Hey, I frame in USA and find your videos awesome! Can you tell me the basic structural names of your lumber? Like we have 2x4 and 2x6 studs, what do you call your lumber? What is the actual dimensions of your thickness and width? I have the Imperial mindset here so I'm trying to get a feel for metric. Thank you sir!

      Hey mate, here in Australia our timber sizes are 70x35, 70x45, 90x35, 90x45, 120x35, 120x45, 140x35, 140x45, 190x35, 190x45, 240x35, and 240x45.
All of our measurements in the construction industry are always in millimetres. And all our timber wall frames are built with 90x35 timber wall studs.
All of our houses are built with timber here but steel frame houses are becoming more popular but only in termite areas. But steel frame houses are inferior to timber houses.

What if the length of the wall isn’t equally divisible by 450 or 600?

Have an odd spacing on the end

@@Jack_martin legend thanks 🙏, I was a bit confused because I’m doing a course at a trade school and was told to split the studs evenly but it seemed counter productive after seeing your videos where you mark out standard spacings, thanks for your help man

I might sound like a knucklehead asking this, but what happens when you get to the end of a wall and the stud spacing isn’t exactly 450mm?
For example if you have a wall that is 2600mm long, there is an odd spacing at the end. Do you just leave it or would you recalculate your 450 centre’s to be something else?

      you would just leave it.

but you need a stud at the end

Get a stud at start and end of your plate. Then re space at 433mm centres or whatever it works out to be.

I was taught to evenly space them even if that meant the 450 centres become a bit less. I think you could also just have a small spacing at the end, not entirely sure to be honest. The important thing is that the centres aren't more than 450, as the code states.

Anything under 450c is fine. The point is that non of your stud pacing exceeds 450 and that there are studs to pick up plaster board or your cladding if it’s not brick
