One tip early on: There's two 2000 coal piles at the extreme back of the map that are easily overlooked. One Gathering Post placed there early can cover most of the coal need for ventilation plants throughout the early and mid game - I tend to a couple hundred coal gathered up by the time I actually needed to start running ventilation plants, and basically don't need to order more coal via the docks until very late, meaning more wood and steel there.
Also, reloading stations feel very not worth it to me. Those steam cores could be ten more workers each, and a couple gathering posts on double shifts will get everything off the piles fast enough that there's little wasted if you run regular shifts on the docks themselves. All the steam cores you need in TLA imo are like four or so for generator parts manufacturing buildings, three for the ventilation plants and about two or three more (plus what you get for recycling the ventilation plants after stage 3) for infirmaries. Not having to gather up a huge load more for reloading stations is what allowed me to actually win the scenario on my first successful run. It's crazy how much of a difference getting in a huge workforce and just running a lot of double shifts *outside the generator construction site itself* can make.
Also, erm... I don't think you can actually reach the shipwreck with gathering posts. It's *just* outside the posts area if you build it was far to the edge of the buildable area as possible.

Yeah, so I find the 4000 coal is good for picking up after the sea has frozen over, just because this becomes your only source of coal. Good shout on the reload station, but you do have to feed and house the extra workers.
You are 100% able to reach the shipwreck with the gathering posts, the ocean has to freeze over first though.

@@Logistical The thing about going for the coal piles early is that your docks can concentrate on rushing in all the steel you need sooner instead. It's during or after stage 3 that I start importing in coal via the docks, often while cutting wood imports entirely because I tend to have a couple hundred wood or more at that point with nothing to even spend it on anymore.
Then on the final days before the freeze when I also start to have enough steel I start switching another or even both other docks to coal and run them on 24-hour shifts to have maxed out piles sitting there by the time the docks stop working. That generally leaves you with more than enough to keep the braziers and heaters on.
Basically, the whole way I found to work best for TLA is that you want to approach it like a marathon and avoid treating it like a sprint as much as possible. The best way to do that for resources is to be strictly methodical about it: Wood via sawmills and one dock, steel via two docks and then you sequentially switch to coal later on after you have enough of those and do a final sorta sprint to max out the coal piles just before the frost.

while i did complete it on medium, I did find a few tricks that helped out immensely at the end. Also, the engineer version of the council square is the overseers post which gets upgraded into the security outpost later on though the motivation buff from it only lasts for 24 hours.
    1. Only build 15-20 more structural profiles then you actually need, this is for helping with safety, if you need more, you'll get 20 total from site 107 and 120, I highly suggest deconstructing the Profiles manufacture after you've done this.
    2. Run 2 fishing harbors for as long as you can, food is a limiting factor as there is a finite amount your foragers can send you, stalk up while you can, if you're bringing in to much, swap to hardy meals.
    3. Build as many steam exchangers as you can! if you get the superchargers upgrades, you can accelerate the progress of the generator construction by 10% for first upgrade and 20% for the second at the cost of 5 exchangers every 2 day, so it's great for beating deadlines!
    4. Coal is key! save as much wood as you can and when you are sure you have more then enough steel, switch a dock or 2 to coal and stockpile as much as you can before the frost!
    5. You only need 1 Vent in medium difficulty when taking the engineer path, the Factory Inspectorate increases up to 3 gas zone buildings safety ratings by 1 level, combine that with short shift , vents, protective structures, and maybe safety measures if you can spare the 25% efficency debuff to keep your generator construction sites safe!
    6. get workers in mass until stage 3, since you can aquire 50 workers by going through the Site 120 nodes. Spend those logi points of steam cores and prostetics if you took that law route.

Awesome tips here!!! Next time I play I’ll take all this in to account. Really want to get back into Frostpunk before number 2 comes out!

Unless you go absolutely bonkers with serving only hearty meals ever or a stupidly massive convict labour force, one fishing harbour on double shifts tends to be more than enough that you don't need to forage before the frost in my experience.
Like, I my last medium run I did a ~50/50 mix of gruel and standard meals with going up to close to 300 workforce towards the end (had ~250 after I let 20% of them leave on the last ship), used one fishing harbor and no foragers before the frost and I had around 2000 meals stored up by the time the seas froze over. At which point those 15 guys in the fishing harbour immediately got handed forager gear and sent out to fish some more from the lake just because.
Also, it bears saying often: Do not overlook the two massive coal piles at the back of the map. They are so easy to miss, it's kinda ridiculous, and they allow you to delay having to get coal via the docks for so long, it's a total gamechanger.

I had an easier time mid game by not keeping people always on the generator. I'd keep nobody on the generator until the deadline was close or the gas went down to level one. Then I'd put loads of people on it, use all the efficiency and safety bonuses, and turn the ventilator plants on. This way I didn't need to worry about coal very much the whole playthrough and I could focus on stockpiling loads of resources while the gas was high. Never really had a timing issue since I could just pull people off resource gathering and do double-shifts on the generator and get it done really fast. This also let me take a lot of safety "get out of jail free" cards when bad things happened during construction.
This was on medium, I donno if it holds up on harder difficulties.

Oh interesting tactic! I think things take longer on harder difficulties but this may work if you go double shifts and use all the efficiency boosts you can! Thanks for comment!

For coal, there's something people really tend to overlook: There's 2 massive coal piles at the far back of the map containing 4000 coal that you cna start gathering up with a post right from the start. That's enough that you don't need to ship in anything before 3 ventilation plants if you put a gathering post on double shifts up there. Hell, do it early enough and you might get away with it alone until you finish stage 3 if you get lucky with your gas levels.
I cna see how burst construction on the generator can pay off, but I personally would say I prefer the slow and steady approach. Short shifts and safety measures can allow you a lot of constant progress while keeping safety on the site mostly maxed out. What messes you up in TLA the easiest IMO is if you fall dangerously behind the dealdine and are forced to run your site on low safety all of a sudden, and then people start flooding your medical buildings and it just starts a downward spiral where you're left with only bad options that drive you further into the hole. The slow and steady approach tends to minimise the chance of that happening in my experience, because it allows you to keep up with the deadline more consistently and gives you room to maneuver if something goes wrong.
