Kaikavashi: This raagam, known to be a derivative of the 60th melakarta Neethimathi, is one of the ekaika ragas from Shri Tyagaraja’s big basket. The aarohanam and avarohanam of this raga is given as SRGMPDNS- SNPMGRS. Though this is the broad structure, the phrase SPMP is observed in the composition. Similarly, the phrase SNDNP is observed as well. The essence of this raagam has been aesthetically depicted in the composition Vachama Gocharame.
