1+1=2. Genetics is a concrete deciding factor to success. I am a runner, I've done cross country for over a decade and ran for college. I worked harder than many and gave it my best. I made progress and dedicated myself to the grind. I will never be the best even if I took gear and should not do so. In my life I will never run a sub 25min 8k. Have humility in life and aspire for a grind that brings you joy.
Really happy that I'm not instagram and have stoppes watching a lot of bodybuilding content on YT in the past few months. My mental health feels way better. In fact, now I've started to prioritize my health (diet, cardio, longevity) instead of optimizing muscle mass. And that happened on its own after I stopped giving two fkks about influencers on gear. Great video, btw, Josh.

Absolutely love the final reminder ❤🙏🏼 it's about yourself. Respect yourself at least half of what you respect these elusive / fake figures and you'll go way further 🙌🏼
I've worked at a gym before and I can say pretty much everyone with an elite physique is taking something. You can tell the ones who are vs those who aren't, and the ones who are maintain a very high muscle mass while remaining shredded. While it is 'possible' to do that naturally, it's incredibly difficult and certainly not something maintained year-round. I've heard too many guys claim to be natural and then change their tune a few months down the line to really believe any of them. And I just think it's a silly thing to risk your health on. I train 5 days a week, and have a decent muscle mass and size to me. I understand if I try to get too lean I'll lose a lot of that. And so be it. I'd rather have that than turn my body into a ticking time bomb. A lot of these young guys arent aware of the long term effects of steroids and just mindlessly take them. They're worried about looking good now, and dont mind dropping dead at 50. Well... 50 will be here before you know it, buddy.
Thank you for spotlighting Hunter Moore; he is very inspiring. And I was a bit confused that you blurred Dylan McKnight in his video clip but didn't blur out him (or his name) in a later screenshot. Great work either way.
This really enforced my mindset of not comparing myself to others. When I got to a point where my after 5 months of lifting, I thought I was doing something wrong. My family did not have any experience with weightlifting and I only had the internet. Luckily I had good fitness UA-camrs that simplify things for me (trainer willy, max ecueda etc) and kept me pushing. My friends also kept me pursuing me goals, because I also help them pursue theirs in their weightlifting journey. And as of today, after 7 months of determination and perseverance, I finally lost almost 13 kg from when I started, I currently weigh 81 kg and another reason for why I don't compare myself to people is because I don't have tik too and Instagram, just plain old UA-cam without shorts.
Regardless the unfortunate reality of juice being so widespread, I can’t shake the fact that genetics do matter. I, for example, would not look the way I do now if I did not have the bone structure / frame, height, muscle bellies, natural vascularity, etc. Without these foundations laid, things that are mainly or completely out of my control, all my hard work through the years wouldn’t have got me anywhere near my current look. I think it’s important to set realistic expectations as to not have people become discouraged from lifting if they happen not to be capable of producing a top 10% physique. We don’t try to convince everyone they can be a pro basketball player, so why does the fitness community, including the natties, try to sell dreams out of reach to most? I can’t help but feel we end up pushing away most people from lifting when we have overly optimistic messages of everyone achieving top physiques. There is this undertone that runs through natty channels like this that are selling blind optimism. I’m in no way advocating for a black pilled message to be spread, but I do believe we would do the most amount of good for the most amount of people if we put out a more realistic message.

A problem is people labelling bodybuilding as “fitness”. A recreational triathlete or sportsman would be “fitter” than these guys in every metric except for strength and muscle mass.
Totally agree. I have been saying this for years. It’s not the fitness industry, it’s the lift weights overeat and take gear industry. Back when I started fitness meant at a minimum being proficient in one or more sports - bodybuilding is not a sport - or having cardiovascular fitness. Gym work was part of it too for strength but building kilos of muscle for purely appearance has nothing to do with fitness.
Peak content! Especially young people need to see it. You all can build a good body but it wont look like that fitness influencer body. But make sure you have other hobbies too and dont buy into all the fitness bs (supplement, copied and pasted bs social media content).
I'm not one to comment much on videos, but this one was honestly pretty good. I'm not a big fan of people vilifying comparison, people should instead be elevating context and perspective. I wish you had emphasized readjusting your perspective more towards the end. It's literally mandatory for us to compare ourselves in some way to others, but the important part is to add context for that comparison so instead of making us feel down or nihilistic, we can instead use it to learn and better ourselves. Our brains are hardwired for hierarchies to maintain order, so we will always compare lest we actually go insane.
9:37 sooooo true man love for this big, huge truth in this video, and... 10:07 its simply you against you so true, even you find that fact in religions (evil inside everyone of us) thats inssuch a hard fact, keep on having focus on you, your goals and what you see for you in future "no one can be you instead of you"

Man, i know im old and don't like excuses, but i travel a lot and go to 8 to 15 gyms a year and i can tell you either the info out there in the last 5 to 8 years is unbelievably superior or access to gear is getting better and easier.
Another thing is that a lot of people think their genetics are way worse than what they actually are. I thought I was doomed to always look bad and be weak, when I joined the gym 2.5 years ago I literally couldn't bench press just the bar alone (probably because I was a nerd who never trained for my whole life), had noodles arms and just looked super skinny and weak. Thankfully I sticked to it, went to the gym 5 days a week every week until now, started eating more and learning about macros and exercises and did massive progress. Turns out my genetics are actually very good considering I've had multiple people questioning if I'm on gear. I also recently hit a 110kg bench press PR while being 65kg :)
The “problem” with natural lifters and social media, is that they’re documenting a lot of what they do for years…and they still look natural! I don't really care if I won't ever look as good as them, at least I will be able to tell myself that I never went for a shortcut.
And shaved a few healthy years off your life in the process. All for walking around with a few extra kg's of muscle mass. It is never worth it.
@@Magnusfication It doesn't even look good in most cases to be honest. If you only focus on the muscle mass, sure, you'd think "huge guns!". But if you look at the person as a whole. It's often an absolute babyface screwed on top of Arnold's body. A complete visual discrepancy. Like a toddler in a muscle suit.
Shortcut to gains and a shortcut to the grave
Also jt bugs me why Elon Musk is shown in this video, he's probably just commenting about it as an excuse not to better himself, although I agree with his points, he's not the person I should take as an inspiration to better myself 😅.
what a shitty way of thinking. Your reason should be health and longevity, not fake virtue points. Conversely if you get old and it gets more benefitial to your health to take gear, you should do it without any shame
There are no short cuts in fitness or in life…..none worth taking anyway. Put the hard & smart work in consistently, & you can achieve some incredible goals naturally 💪
PS: The fact that I saw 3 different VShred ads during the course of watching this video is a big part of the problem, but the irony gave me a little chuckle…
There literally is, they're called steroids, lol. All 3 of the guys in the thumbnail are on gear.

Comparison truly is the thief of joy. We dont need to look for perfection. Just to try and be better than we were yesterday. Thank you for the video 🙏🏼
Stop comparing yourself to your past self if you think comparison truly is the thief of joy.
Please more documentaries like these. The quality level is unfanthomable.

Anabolics are great. Ive literally trained with ppl who eat junk , hardly sleep properly but yet put on twice as much muscle and recover like Wolverine on them. It's amazing tbh.
i really needed this video man. after months of natural lifting it gave me such a new way of thinking. as someone in comments said comparison is the thief if joy.
This is my favourite natural cope channel.
Eat Clen, Tren hard, Test your limits, Anavar give up.
Love these videos. They’re always so well made

Mike mentz on the end made me tear up bro, that line by him is unfathomably hard and obnoxiously beautiful

And as always, mike said it all at the end
Great Video, thank you very much
Brilliant video!
I’ve been given horrible genetics. This is what I needed to hear. Thank you!
I’m in no way advocating for a black pilled message to be spread, but I do believe we would do the most amount of good for the most amount of people if we put out a more realistic message.
wtf, this video is so good, should have more appreciation
Steroids. It's steroids. All ages.
I knew a kid in school who went from chubby to built between 10th & 11th grade. The roid rage changed his entire personality so quickly. The entire school knew he did steroids and always denied it.

I banned all social media from my life ages ago besides youtube. I feel that especially the short format is lethal. And never on my phone.. People have such a warped reality these days it bleeds into the actual world. We need to return to reality as a society before it spins beyond our control.
I just wish there wasn’t a stigma around admitting PED use, because it gives bad actors the opportunity to take advantage of people and giving questionable advice.
It's mostly the fact that not a lot of people want to admit to a crime in front of an audience since in most countries PEDs are not legal.
Blame the US Government starting with Reagan who (the first of several US Presidents to declared a war on steroids as way to deflect attention away from many other domestic policy problems. This caused them to be stigmatised way beyond the norm
@@marcdaniels9079 the US is not the only country where PEDs are illegal and stigmatized, for example they are illegal in the whole european union
@@marcdaniels9079 they are stigmatized because they cause detrimental health effects and can easily be abused by people with mental health issues. If blasting gear didnt destroy your organs and reduce your life expectancy by 10-15 years then I think the stigma would be less.

Bro your videos are SOLID!!!! God job!
I have been traning hard for 4 years, 100% natural, and its become so easy to spot people that are on gear because you know whats possible in a given timeframe.. the mental benefits of the gym are why I wont quit
Nah thats observer bias. You just think people are on gear b/c you are jaded about what you havent accomplished in that time. I will tell you openly there are very few people going to commercial gyms taking gear. In non commercial gyms there will be a higher percentage for sure but in commercial gyms 99% of people are just there for fitness. The bigger guys you see are just normal people putting in harder work than you, or utilizing a better diet than you or a combination of both.
@@BigronnieTriceps I’m already ripped though dude. Even at 48. My transformation would impress you, . So this is not the case. And trust me nobody in my gym is out working me. I’m a sadist when it comes to working out
@@BaseRealityVR Genetics are a factor too, as is ur age. Don't bring down others bc they are 28 and hit the genetic lottery.
Being 33, almost 34. Most of the time, people who are lifting super heavy weights but are able to bounce back day after day, not resting makes me suspicious of them.
@@wylfo That guy @BaseRealityVR sounds like he is the genetic lottery just not juiced. It is possible to be quite big, fit and strong natty at that age, just not as big and lean as those "natty-look" roidheads. People these days have warped perception of what is natty what is not, what is good genetics and what is not. It is either naivety or blatant idolatry. If you are a man of truth, then just get those huge 'natties' tested randomly and you will see. You cannot measure genetics, but you can measure the parameters on blood and size of your balls.

Get out of the gym and measuring your left delt.
SUCH an insightful video great job man
A problem is people labelling bodybuilding as “fitness”.
But make sure you have other hobbies too and dont buy into all the fitness bs (supplement, copied and pasted bs social media content).
appreciate the video brother. needed the motivation thank you.

Man, i know im old and don't like excuses, but i travel a lot and go to 8 to 15 gyms a year and i can tell you either the info out there in the last 5 to 8 years is unbelievably superior or access to gear is getting better and easier.
In #5 of your video description you forgot the best part of Menzter's quote. "So let's get with it."

It doesn't make sense for someone to get defensive about steroid allegations unless they are actually using them.
Who is that guy in the old-school video at 11:00; I think his grounded motivation thing might be my jam.
