Love your channel. And I love Card Driven Games (CDGs). And I consider Combat Commander and Commands & Colors CDGs. I noticed you didn't mention (unless I missed it) GMT's CDG Solo System. It is a mechanism (originated by Stuka Joe) for playing various CDGs solo. And there is a CDG Solo System #2 coming out soon that adds even more games to the system. P.S. When you were wondering about a CDG about the end of the Third Reich, my first thought was WWII Barbarossa to Berlin which is the WWII version of Paths of Glory.

1960 is my #1 game (right now, anyway) and I love it. So much more than the Twilight Struggles and such, mainly because when your opponent plays your event, you *can* play it but you have to spend a Momentum token to do it. If you don't have any, I guess you can't play it.
That difference where it's possible but not automatic makes it that much more enjoyable for me, and makes it a bit more tactical if your hand is full of opponent's events (which one can I tempt my opponent to spend their 1 token for and then play the other more devastating ones after that.

    Two thoughts:
Here I Stand can definitely accommodate several new/casual gamers. There are two factions that need an experienced HIS player--the Hapsburgs and the French. The other 4 don't even need to know all the rules and/or they are somewhat shielded by other factions such that they can focus on one thing. I've played many HIS games with n00bs, and the Papacy won one of them.
A somewhat obscure CDG is The Trial of Louise Real, which portrays the treason trial for a Canadian revolutionary. Experienced trial attorneys (like me and my Navy JAGC friends) love this game. It allows you to use cards for evidence during the trial on the merits, or tuck them away for closing argument.

I was 10 years old in 1986 and I sort of remember getting ready to go to school that February morning and was told to stay put instead. The radio and TV was ON in every household following the latest development of the coup that was underway. Jaime Cardinal Sin called on the people to gather in the streets of EDSA to block the government troops that are supposed to attack the 2 army camps that sheltered the coup plotters. At first there were hundreds of protesters but as the day wore on it swelled to thousands. The scenes from the TV was incredible. People stopping armored carriers and tanks. Putting flowers into machine guns. Praying and Singing as one. Not really sure who named it People Power though but the name stuck. Me, the 10 year old boy back then was only happy that school was out for several days! When it was all over and Marcos fled the country, I remember seeing a TV news anchor crying tears of joy. Some months later, the Malacanang Palace was open for a brief time to visitors and I did get to see the 3000 pairs of shoes of Imelda Marcos and their opulent lifestyle!
Fast forward 30+ years later and I'm waiting for the game to arrive thru my friend who ordered a copy for me as well.

Prelude to Rebellion is my favorite CDG. It seems to me after 5 plays solo and opposed that the Patriote player wins every time unless perks are used. There are balancing rules on BGG posted by the designer that gives either side initial perks. You bid for a number of perks. Perks might be the Loyalist player starts off with 3 extra rural counties cubes, for example. Still love the gameplay, though I've yet to finish a game that didn't end in an automatic victory . My opposed play was via the excellent Vassal module but FTF would be the best way to play. Love the map layout with all the scoring tracks, urban and rural counties tracks. Looking forward to Prelude to Revolution also.

Richard III is such a tight game. Fantastic game. Converting a noble is a major event, because its like a +2 advance (+1 to you, with a -1 to the enemy at the same time). Great game. If you ever get a chance to play Cousins' War (from Surprised Stare Games in the UK), that is a great War of the Roses Game too. Small box game. They have a new one out set around the El Cid era; possibly called 3 Sanchos. Its on KS soon.

well Im filipino Chinese born in 67 Manila now living in Vancouver Canada for like 30 years and yah I grew up in Marcos martial law, protested vs. Marcos in 85-86 go involved in the street protests in Mendiola bridge Recto got tear gassed and chased by riot police everyday for months of protests and watched movies like Django later and back again the next day marching towards the Presidential palace and I took part in the EDSA march vs. Marcos during 86 people, and Im a board wargamer and RPG enthusiast since 1980. So Im not offended by the ignorance of the Players aid commentators but I can tell you that the People Power game is very historically accurate, yah the Opposition reformers had a tenous alliance with the NPA communist guerillas vs. the Marcos gov. but after Marcos was kicked out and the opposition reformers took over Cory Gov. things very much soured between the opposition and the NPA and the NPA actually launched a urban guerilla offensive in the late 80s vs. the Cory government which failed badly for the NPA. Well in my opinion the period of the Cory gov 1986 to 1992 is probably the most craziest time when I was growing up in the PHilippines, its even crazier than the 1981 to 1986 game. from 1986 to 1992 I went thru: two bloody coup attempts, a failed economy, high crime rates , daily blackouts, political chaos, an earthquake, a volcanic explosion, NPA assasinations in Manila , flooding of Manila. etc. etc. etc. My family immigrated to Canada starting 1989(we tried to get USA green card but failed starting in 83) to get away from the perceived politicla economic and social problems in the Philippines. Interesting that now the son of Marcos bong bong is President of the Philippines.

'Sword Of Rome' looks like a fun multi-player CDG (5 or 6 players max) but for some reason part of the manual was confusing me the way it was written. Been quite awhile but I recall having to read a few parts multiple times. It doesn't seem to be too difficult compared to some other CDGs but some bits didn't stick in my noggin very well. Perhaps it was just my reading comprehension or focus failing at the time. Looks great, though.

Loads of great comments saying how great the channel is….are you all mad!? These guys are sending me broke! They only seem to play good/great games and their enthusiasm and side humour makes every game appear on my wish list. Then, to add insult to injury, they’re actually right. The games are great which means I never want to resell them because one day (maybe) I’ll play it again. Not to mention the way they flaunt that impressive games shelves causing ‘collection envy’ thus leading to more purchases!
And another thing! These 2 cause me to be late for appointments too. Many a time I have just the audio of them playing in the car, only to arrive at my destination not wanting to stop the video. I’ve sat on car parks waiting for the end only to be late for something or have my wife ask why I’m still in the garage when I get home.
I would delete you tube off my phone but I think Players aid have another big video coming out next week and I’ve a lot of gardening to do…..

if there is a 1986 to 1992 scenario: it would be the PH gov(used to be the reform opposition in the 1981-1986 scenario). vs. the opposition(an combination of former marcos gov. and opposition and disgruntled military men angry at the Cory gov) vs. the NPA. the PH gov in this scenario would be weaker vs. an opposition with more teeth that can do coup attempts and a stronger NPA/Moro faction. In this scenario its not 2 vs 1, its more 1v1v1. each trying to achieve their victory conditions. the PH gov wins by surviving until game end and getting Ramos elected int he PH presidential elections of 92. Opposition wins with Ramos losing the PH presidential election of 92. NPA wins by a revolutionary victory. communist takeover of the PH gov.
