I have a lot of difficulty with things like cleaning and tidying, due to depression and the fact that I'm partially blind. I have no family and no one to help me outside of one person who visits me sometimes. I always apologise whenever people come to visit me and I've had people outright tell me that my home is disgusting because the main issue I have is washing dishes.
But watching your videos, seeing you help people just like me with no judgement, no strings and telling their stories, it makes me feel like I'm not a failure for things getting out of hand, that it's okay that things do and I need to be able to forgive myself for it.
Since I started watching your videos, I've been able to take things one step at a time with cleaning, and it's made a huge daunting task a bit easier to do. The way I've been handling it is by thinking one step at a time. If I enter a room, like my office or living room, I need to do one thing to keep it clean. Is there some rubbish on the floor? That's okay, just pick it up and put it in the bin. Are there some dishes left to clean? That's alright, you can clean those quickly before you grab your meds. It's been a life saver.
Genuinely, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for your kindness, your compassion and your generosity. You change people's lives for the better, including mine.

    • @bionicmaleficent
      @bionicmaleficent Рік тому +2

I agree completely!! I was disabled in a car wreck 12 years ago & even with surgeries to help "fix" some problems, there's still mobility & pain issues.
It definitely makes it harder to do tasks that most find simple to do. But when you can barely walk, much less get out of a chair or from a sitting position, it's hard to do the simplest tasks!!
Over time, my mobility has decreased in many ways & when you walk with a cane or have to use a walker, it makes some things more difficult to do, as most things you need both hands, but one is usually occupied holding your body up!!
I love that she helps so many with mental issues, but I hate that many with physical & mental don't always reach out. I think having the combination is a much harder ordeal to overcome. The mental can be repaired in many situations, as my therapy has helped many of my trauma issues, depression, anxiety & PTSD. Although they are not gone, they're much better than they were & better than the physical issues. The physical issues are much harder to fix. 🥺

After watching your videos I have come to realize that there are many people who wind up alone when they get older and aren't able to take care of themselves. Many people don't have family or friends nearby so they have nowhere to turn when life hits them hard. This gave me an idea that I can't believe no one has thought of before. Nowadays there are apps for everything so why can't there be an app specifically designed to match people together who would be compatible roommates. I'm thinking of a "Golden Girls" type of situation where aging people who are alone can pool their resources and help one another. For example, a neat freak who can't afford groceries, a person who is financially stable but can't walk and a homeowner who loves to cook but can no longer keep their finances straight could live together and create a new kind of family. Of course they would have to agree to a background check get to know one another before moving in together for their own safety. I think that just knowing that an option like this exists would go a long way toward helping the elderly keep a positive attitude and avoid the depression that comes from watching everyone you know begin to pass away.

This apartment has the semblance of a home. There's a bookcase and some plants. In many of the homes you clean, there's a shabby sofa somewhere under the trash and very little else, many people don't even have a bed. Despite the trashes, it still looks like someone could live there.

My mom lost her mobility as she arrived in her 80s. It was a constant source of frustration for her to not be able to reach a set of clean sheets & change a bed, or wind the clock, or take her trash outside, or clean her door glass, or tote a load of laundry. I was her caregiver for the last five years, and I know how much it means to less-abled people to have that non judgemental help. You're so right that the world is largely designed for mobile, strong people, and the despair that can set in from not being able to do what you know needs done can absolutely set what you see in this house into motion.

A little tip for those who feel they have trouble keeping the kitchen clean, and have plates etc piling up. Try to reduce your equipment like plates, forks, spoons etc, to an ABSOLUTE MINIMUM. If you are one person, see how you get along with ONE of each. Eg: One cup, one fork/spoon/tea spoon/knife, one soup plate, one normal plate, one bowl, one pan, one pot. I can truly recommend this. If you got a cellar, you can store excess utensils there for example if you have guests come over, but then, when they are gone, you store them away again.
To Aurikatariina I wanna say: Thank you for your work and your videos. I'm really amazing and in awe and hope that your videos help a lot of people. @@AlexxWretched I live with my boyfriend and we have mostly 2 of everything. Just two additional "sentimental" mugs, and for the cutlery we decided on the following: 4 normal breakfast-knifes, 4 forks, 2 spoons, 4 teaspoons. That is because of our personal preferences of food, so we know we can eat with this setup for a full day. Also, we have as a rule that we do not go to bed without the kitchen being clean. because coming to a clean kitchen in the morning is amazing ;) We arranged that in the evening we do the kitchen and we hover the apartment real quick (it has to be done here everyday because i have a skin condition and also because we live in a very small appartment and it collects dust etc REALLY fast). so in the evenings we share the "work", one hovers, one washes the dishes and afterwards we dry up together. We still have a drawer with the type of "additional utensils" like a bread-knife, a small teasieve, wooden spoon etc, but for my taste that's still too much stuff, so there is improvement possibility there. We continiously look at the cupboards and see what utensils we DIDN'T use at ALL for months. These type of items can go into the storage/cellar/etc.

Mylate aunt had been living like this,we had been able to move her to a assisted living facility near family for a new start in a clean home. She had mobility issues as well, this video brought tears to my eyes thinking about my aunt. I'm so happy you could help this woman.

If you ever started a “bedding and mattress” fund, I would gladly contribute. All those poor people trying to sleep on moldy, worn out bedding. So sad.

Auri, I just wanted you to know that you inspired me. I’ve struggled with cleaning and have been keeping my home clean now for a few weeks. I deep cleaned and organized everything and that was inspired in part by you. Thank you so much for your inspiration and for helping other people! You really are doing so much in the world. May God bless you! ❤️

I agree with you that people shouldn’t have a lot of things if they can’t or don’t clean. I always say that less means little mess 😊

Love the tips about reducing clutter to make cleaning easier! And I also like the song you featured in the middle. I'd love to hear some more of your favorite tunes in future videos!

I love her bookshelf! That is so nice to see a at home library. Sometimes I feel a little sad watching the videos because the homes are so filled with trash but they also seem to have no belongings either. It’s nice to see people who are not materialistic but also makes me sad that they do not have hobbies that they enjoy.

My favorite parts of your videos are the stories, the before and after pictures and when you explain that you recycled their bottles and show what you got for them. I also like that you describe differences between acid/base cleaning products and how to clean.
