- How to replace the lower control arm bushings and sway bar bushings on a 2011 GMC Acadia. There was a clunking noise coming from the front end of my GMC Acadia. I replaced the control arm bushings first and that solved most of the noise. I replaced the sway bar bushings and that stopped the noise.
Great video! I changed the control arm bushings on my wife's 2013 Acadia. I did find it easier to take out the old bushing and install the new ones by disconnecting the upper sway bar from the top which allowed the control arm to move up with more clearance. Easy job and no more clunking! Thanks again!
I’m glad it helped! The disconnecting the upper sway bar is a great idea. And thank you very much.....
Great to see you working on cars. I work on cars everyday.
Well my guess is you don't take 4 hours to change sway bar bushings, LOL! I love cars and plan to restore my 1987 Trans Am when I retire. I've been trying to learn the skills needed before I retire. I'm pretty good mechanically because my Dad had my brothers and me under our 1966 Chrysler 300 with a bent drive shaft all the time. We were changing U joints every weekend it seemed! Plus before he put a 383 in it, we were helping with the bad engine. Anyway, thank you very much....
A man of many talents!
Nicely done.
Safely done.
Can still wave to the lady's with all your fingers all intact.
LOL! I still have 10 and 10. Thank God! And thank you very much.....
Thanks for the instruction. Today, I did both (control arm links & sway bar bushings). The sway bar bushing took more time, especially on passenger's side because the exhaustive pipes runs next to it. Overall, not bad process. I thought the bushing is hard to get in both I squeezed from the end of the sway bar and moved to its position.
Unfortunately, these did not fix my clunk noises. I still hear the clunk when driving slowly and passing small dents. The noise is gone when driving fast. But, I hear less braking noises and no scary sound when I go over a big bump (my sway bar bushing was really bad before replacing).
Awesome! The last thing I know that could be making that noise is the sway bar End Links. I would try replacing those and see what happens. It’s great to have a non clunky car again! And thank you very much……
@@jster1963 I checked the sway bar link. I don't feel any shaky or any movement while tire is removed. The clunk is very clear when driving slowly and passing a small bump.
@@TyzFix I’m not sure then. I’m not a mechanic. I’m just a DIY guy. I would keep checking online and see if someone else had the same issue. Good luck…..
replace all motor mounts trust me i rebuilt the entire frontend it was all motor mounts are hydraulic and are gone !!
eventually I replaced both front struts. no more noise. 😃
It's always nice to have a trade to fall back on! Hahaha! Looks good!
Are you hiring? LOL! After I catch up on all the things that need fixin', I will qualify for a journeyman card ;-) And thank you very much....
Little late to the game, but was the clunking before replacing the sway bar bushing happening when turning the wheel side to side as well as hitting little bumps?
For me it was only hitting bumps.....
what part did you buy specifically and how much did it cost?
I’m not sure. It’s been a long time since I did this. Sorry….
👍
@@Runelnybx Thank you!
That new blue part looked like it was 3D printed. Great video but it would be better if you came and did a little work on my Enclave
Enclaves are for chumps, LOL! And thank you very much.....
Will this help with my 2010 acadia shaking at certain speeds? 🤔
I’m not sure. It could be many things that cause shaking. I’m not a mechanic, but my father taught me to start with the cheap stuff first. I would check tire balance first and go from there. Good luck…..
Hi, how much are the costs of both bushings, control arm and sway bar?
Stabilizer Bar Bushing 04 / 20 / 2020 Shipped $22.47
Control Arm Bushing 04 / 14 / 2020 Shipped $53.73
I bought there from Rock Auto online. And good luck.....
Thanks, stay safe👍
@@rogepunzalan You're welcome. And you too....
what kind of impact driver you used?
I used a Milwaukee Fuel M18 (I think M18). It works great.....
@@jster1963 thanks! great job!
@@TyzFix Thank you Sir…..
@@jster1963 Did you jack up the vehicle using Jack stand, or just work with the tire on? I am afraid the control arm has some force against the link. but looks you took it off so easily.
@@TyzFix I jacked it up and used a jack stand, but I left the wheel on. It wasn’t very hard at all. And good luck….
I have a 2011 Acadia Denali has over 200,000 miles on it. But sometimes when I'm driving it down the road I get a vibration from the seems like it's coming from the front right tire I let up off the gas and it stops I accelerate and it goes on like nothing ever happened but the minute I hit a bump I feel that vibration again can someone please let me know what it may be thank you
Good question. I’m not a mechanic, but I would look and see if something is loose. I would also check the bearings. And if the tire was changed it may be out of balance. Good luck......
same here its all motor mounts
Why didn't you ratchet them down at the same time? A little on the back, a little on the front.
It's so tight that I couldn't get something to hold it down on both sides. If it were on a bench where you could hold it in place with a clamp, you could do that. Anyway, thank you.....
Great reward in the end, silence...!!!
Just wondering... For you, is it called a "Runway" or a simply a driveway, and, who is operating the "Control Tower"..... 😂😂😂
Good luck with your cleaning up, here it's going real SLOW... 😴😴😴😎👍
LOL! It's a runway and my wife is the chief controller, ;-) And I love the silence. Take your time and thank you very much! Ps. We had rain mixed with snow here today. Keep your snow up there, LOL...
Spraying some wd40 on metal parts would made life of putting those bushings on so much easier.
I never thought of that. That would have made it a lot easier. And thank you very much........
No clue what your doing so much more complicated than it has to be
You're right. I hope I didn't come off like I was an expert, because I am not. I'm just a regular guy that manages to fix his own things. And there are times that I do it the hard way......
