Good to see you back in high spirits again Shug. You're a master at the mandolin. Your nose is looking great , can't tell anything was ever wrong at all. Keep'em coming you rock !
No-one beats Mr.Emery. Such a showman, and a knowledgeable one, at that. I've been out of Hammocking for about 7 years now, and am just now getting back into it. One of the best things about getting back into it, is catching up on Shug's videos. So glad you're still kicking around , Sir! I missed all the nose stuff, glad you are better.
You are everywhere! Creators for Linville Gorge site, NC, you live in the great cold north, and your videos are terrific for new and seasoned hammock trekkers! Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work of taking good care of yourself!
Just got back from a section hike in Georgia on the Appalachian Trail with my wife. 2nd night out there was a group of us at the shelter when we all pulled out our dinner for the night and they were all Packit Gourmet meals. Turns out we all were dedicated Shug watchers! Should of guessed from the hammock setups. So your followers are everywhere! Thanks for the update.
Hey Shug! Don't burn your new nose hairs with that fire stick! Remember you can pick your friends, you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your friends nose. I'm glad your nose is healing well. Looking forward to your camping video.
Shug, glad you are on the mend.I enjoyed your mandolin music. Last weekend we took the grandkids to the Circus World Museum and showed them some other Ringling historical sites around Baraboo. I am going to Baraboo to watch the circus parade in a couple of weeks with the grandkids.
JCHaywire/KC7FYS here. Your former neighbor--we moved out to Seattle a couple years back. I had but one chance to jam with you, but I used it to just say hello and take a rather poor selfie. Over at the um... a bluegrass jam at a hotel in the suburbs. Anyway, we wish you the very best--and if you come out to Seattle for a hang, be sure to stop in here for a base of operations. Keep that nose in check, too, buddy. Cheers! -Jonathan
You are always positive, so kudos for rolling with it. Your vids are a happy few minutes every time I watch them (and I can't tell you how many times I've re-watched the old vids to remember how to show somebody a suspension). You're training the next generation, thanks for being you.
Great to see you posting! My buddies and I tried out hammock camping in the boundary waters last year on a whim with barely any research and we're never going back to tents! These were 9 foot Wise Owl, Eno, Grand Trunk hammocks. It took me a while to attempt researching hammock camping because its so niche, so many terms to learn, and some of those forum folks come off a bit elitist (sorry, but I don't think you NEED a $500 setup to enjoy hammock camping!) But after I started making some whoopie slings and a DIY hammock, I started really getting into your videos as well as Nature Calls Outdoors! We are a month away from our next BWCA trip and I can't wait to try some of this newly learned stuff out!
Still tons of snow up there. Late ice out this year. Muddy. Was just driving around up there in my Jeep. Should be fine in a month we all hope. Check this! ua-cam.com/users/shortsv4LUzenI6h0
Great Hammock Setup. Good news your nose is healing up. Thanks for Showing us the before and after close up. I imagine I will have to visit the Doc one day. Cheers Brother. Oh great picking that string instrument!
Veeeery interesting. Thinking of Smothers Brothers German soldier in the fern. Nose is great. Love your club house and mandolin artistry. Plane is awesome. Wonderful share.
Shug, Glad to hear you’re getting better! I have learned so much from your hammock videos and enjoy watching them! Your goofery sure cracks me up! Much health sir!!!
Shug, does this mean you don’t have as many nose hairs to deal with? Haha glad you are doing well. I’m looking at getting the tensa solo. Thanks for a look at the boom stakes.
Good to see you are doing better and the nose is healing well. I always enjoy the mandolin. Never realized how much work goes into building the planes. It must make it that much more rewarding when you get it in the air.
Spent all day sick on the couch watching your videos hoping you were doing well. As soon as I go to sleep you put a new one out. 😆 Glad to see you're doing well and healing up.
Glad to see you with the tensa solo. I love mine. I have one pole and you can always find a tree. Been using mine backpacking for a year now. It has come in handy many times. A small tip always put something under the foot at the bottom of the pole. If it rains while sleeping and the ground starts to get soft it will sink without something under it. I use a trekking pole cleat.
I love my tensa solos, I have two and the boom stakes and 2 "orange screws", they come in handy in areas without trees that I would normally have to tent camp. Glad the cancer has been beat back!
Even now, based on the video, it's scarcely noticable that you had the surgery Mr Shug. Happy to hear you're recovering well, and getting back to the norm.
Looking good Shug. I'm glad you are well and still looking dapper as ever! Happy to hear that you'll be getting out in the woods soon. Take care and stay squirrely!
Ah Shug, when they made you they broke the mold! Then they beat the stuffing out of the mold maker! ;-). Your outdo cracked me up. Glad to hear that your nose is healing nicely. Stay healthy and keep those videos coming!
i admire you and your videos so much! i don’t have a dad, nor a grandfather, nor any positive guy role models in my life…so having you to look up to in such a wholesome way really means a lot to me! i’m so glad you’re doing better with your nose (: looking handsome, playing well, can’t wait to see more from you! god bless!
Those Tensa Solo guy lines can be tricky. I was using the large Orange Screws with mine but if they weren’t at the right angle the heads popped off. I think the boom stakes are the fool proof way to go with those. Glad to see you’re healing up well and putting more content out.
I would like to say thanks for educating us on your situation with your nose. Not to many people would of did what you did Shug and showed us the affect of the surgery. I think it's healing up just great, looking good bud! Excellent playing, nice sound.
Glad to see you're doing well Shug. Fiancee and I got Solo poles back in 2020 as we don't have enough suitable trees in our yard, and they were finicky at first, but between watching your videos and messing around, we often get comfy hangs! Keep being a good one Shug!
Modern medicine sure is something, can go from a hole in your head to barely being able to tell you ever had one. That looks like its going to heal up nice. Really enjoyed listening to this while I fired up the ol' fancee feest for a little midnight snack just for the heck of it. I'm not a hammock guy but that Tensa solo sure is intriguing. My buddy that hammocks has been foiled more than once by lack of a 2nd tree to hang from. I never realized the control line planes were something you built from scratch, thats super cool, looking forward to seeing how that paint come out.
Ho Shug! you are the most beautiful example of a happy retired man a lot of passion you are interested in a lot of things! interest in everything is a proof of intelligence! I'm happy to see that your nose is better I had colon cancer 3 years ago and that puts things back in place! live one day at a time! enjoyed life, I invite you to Formula 1 in Montreal next year? Je t’embrasse mon ami ! Xxx
Understand the feeling of being in limbo during recovery. Glad it is going well for you. Fear and worry uses up a lot of energy. Give yourself plenty of slack. You deserve it.
Entertaining as always, Shug! Thanks for giving us a peak into your world and glad to see you are giving that control line model a little time! Have fun on your camping trip and look forward to seeing you doing a little turning and burning with that new control line plane! Love seeing Mr. Bean there and just like my dogs, he too knows the word "food". You need a little Jim Morrison and Doors singing "Come on baby light my fire" with the fire swallowing act!
Hey Shug! The beak looks great!!! I went to see Sam at a local Irish pub 18 years ago in Saratoga N.Y. When Sam took a break I found myself elbow to elbow with Sam at the bar rail and he asked me if I knew where there were any dandelions, I said yup!! Sam put on a great second set and we watched the sun rise on the tour bus!!!!! We laughed and had so much fun, like we knew each other for years!! The first time I played a mandolin.....it was his. Now I cant put it down, you have been a great inspiration over the years. WHOOOO BUUUUUDDY!!!!
Thanks for posting. I kept wondering how the cosmetic surgery went and was glad it was a success. It’s amazing how well it came out. I could not tell where the original surgical site was.
Thoroughly enjoyed the update and always love your Northfield and Bean segments. Thanks as always for entertaining me while I try to get through another night shift!
Congrats on the successful surgery! I can only imagine the challenges related to such. So great to hear you playing the Mando!! It sounds pretty great! What is it? Fun to see your other interests also at play. Cool to see the “new to you” equipment. Great to know other options are available for fewer trees and softer soil. May you have continued successful healing
Looking good Shug. Your nose is healing beautifully. Thanks for posting about the one tree hang option. I have often thought about something like that for hammock camping in the desert or at the beach. You could use that with the other end tied to your car.
I could listen to you play that mandolin all day. Thanks for showing us your Tensa set up. I am heading out today to try out my new YOBO Gear Half Freedom Stand today (same concept as your Tensa). Ground is very soggy so I will try using two 12" Orange Screw stakes. Gonna set my hammock height only as high as I'm willin' to fall. Good to hear from you again Shug. Glad you're doing well.
Can't even tell about the surgery unless you're up close. My dad has battled skin cancers since his 30s. Good luck with everything. Love the hammock content as always.
You're a good man Shug. The good news is I finally have some time to catch up on your videos. Bad news is I'm dealing with sepsis right now in the hospital. Take care , be well my friend.
HI SHUG 👋 CONGRATULATIONS ❗ HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🎂!HOPE YOUR WISH COMES TRUE 🎂 BE SAFE 🥳HAVE FUN 🎉 GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS ON YOUR ADVENTURES 🙏 🎈ENJOY 😉! 🎁 🎊 🎂!
Good to see your healing up well! That pole is very interesting 🤔. I might have to look into one of these for my tree challenged yard. Super excited I'll get to be up in your neck of the woods for some BWCA action in late June. I've been seeing some folks getting nervous about their early permits and hoping the thaw speeds up! As always thanks for sharing!
Three week nose job, amazing!!!! Belong to two flying clubs here in Ohio, both are too soggy to fly at...... Great to see your recovery is outstanding.......
Hey Shug. Sorry about your basil cell stuff. Don't feel like the lone ranger cause I had the same thing on my right nostril. They took a price of cartilage out of my right ear to shore up the hole. 40 years of roofing gave me a slew of removal sites. Good to see you on the tube again. You're a tuff feller, mmmhum. NC Moore county here.
The ole shnaz is a looking good Shug! We have Sandy soil down here too. The cork screw kind of stake hold really well and you can get them in plastic to save weight. Since you colors are black & orange, how about a Harley Davison kickstand pad to keep the pole from sinking?
Glad to see you back Shug. Excellent mandolin playing sounds good. The nose is healing great 👍 can't wait for your camping videos again. Be safe my friend ✌️
Sam Bush is one of my musical heroes. Nose is looking good. Be well.
Good to see you back in high spirits again Shug. You're a master at the mandolin. Your nose is looking great , can't tell anything was ever wrong at all. Keep'em coming you rock !
Your plastic surgeon did a great job. What a time to be alive! Modern medical wonders.
I’m intrigued by this hammock pole.
Thank you
Missed ya Shug. Good to see ya back. Thanks.

Sometimes it is nice to step away then it seems all new again. Nose healed up well. Thankee.
Love your video's, nominate you as one of the top ten people to have dinner with 👍

Nose looks great! Thanks for sharing. Give ole Bean a treat from me. 🙂
Wow looking good, thanks for sharing.
Looks good buddy!!!
Shug, you should never worry about your content, it is always informative and entertaining. Good health to you and a speedy recovery.
Hey Shug! Don't burn your new nose hairs with that fire stick! Remember you can pick your friends, you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your friends nose. I'm glad your nose is healing well. Looking forward to your camping video.

Shug,
Glad to hear you’re getting better! I have learned so much from your hammock videos and enjoy watching them! Your goofery sure cracks me up! Much health sir!!!
I can't even tell where it was now! Been healed. But I reckon skin cancer will visit me again. I get yearly body scans. Thankee.
Awesome news, cool idea with the pole, Mandalin is beautifull noise BUT, art work is waayyy cool Mr. Emery. WHOO BUD-DAY!!
Shug, does this mean you don’t have as many nose hairs to deal with? Haha glad you are doing well. I’m looking at getting the tensa solo. Thanks for a look at the boom stakes.
Now it is ear hair.
Good to see you are doing better and the nose is healing well. I always enjoy the mandolin. Never realized how much work goes into building the planes. It must make it that much more rewarding when you get it in the air.
Righto~~ Thankee. The planes are fiddly. But fun in its own way.
Lookin' good! Always a nose ahead with those knots. Go, go slippery half hitch!
Music sounds great! Good show!
Planes all secure and more!
Bravo!
Righto~~ Thankee.
Love the Mclaren color scheme at 14:34!
Spent all day sick on the couch watching your videos hoping you were doing well. As soon as I go to sleep you put a new one out. 😆 Glad to see you're doing well and healing up.
Any time is a good time for a visit with Shug. Thanks Shug!

Liking mine. I did have a chuck of wood under it to keep it from sinking in. A handy addition.
I love my tensa solos, I have two and the boom stakes and 2 "orange screws", they come in handy in areas without trees that I would normally have to tent camp. Glad the cancer has been beat back!

Glad you’re healing well. Thank you for all you’ve taught me. Whenever I see something new for hammocks, I search for your video about it.

made me LOL ... hilarious (and i still watched the full upload) :D
Thank you for posting my friend! Glad all is well in Sector 7!
Thank you Shug! Happy you're on the mend. Godspeed!

Hi shrug I've got a hip replacement surgery next week at age 63 so good to see your doing well matey
Thankee. It is a Northfield mandolin.....ua-cam.com/video/Z6q5DAfSG4o/v-deo.html
Glad you’re OK Shug!
Looking good Shug. Your nose is healing beautifully. Thanks for posting about the one tree hang option. I have often thought about something like that for hammock camping in the desert or at the beach. You could use that with the other end tied to your car.
I forget my nose was even done now. Tensa has a lot of good no-tree hanging options.
Lookin good shug! Surgery is never easy (coming from someone in the medical field) but I’m glad you made it through! Love your videos, keep it up
great to see nothing stops Shug keep on keeping on!
✌Shug, glad you're all healed up! Thanks for showing us the Tensa technique, very cool!
Seen those. Glad to hear it is working for you.
You are an inspiration for old(er) dudes like me. BTW I saw Aldi (West St Paul) has a 5 pack of Knoppers and immediately thought of you my man!!
Impressive juggling and glad to hear the surgery was a success. I hope we cross paths someday cause you rock sir! 😊
Have to really look to see the scar. Skin is a bit white there.
Thanks! Less to fear now.
Skin Cancer ...done it.
I like the color scheme for your plane. looks like you're making the best of things💪💪💪
Thankee!
Glad to see you back Shug!
thanks for another great video. Glad your snoot is filling in nicely. Thanks for always making sure we know how to poop in the woods.
Can't even tell about the surgery unless you're up close. My dad has battled skin cancers since his 30s. Good luck with everything. Love the hammock content as always.
I went out and bought the tensa solo, waiting now for it to come in the mail. Thanks so much for the inspiration!
You're a good man Shug. The good news is I finally have some time to catch up on your videos. Bad news is I'm dealing with sepsis right now in the hospital. Take care , be well my friend.
Here is to a good and speedy recovery. No pop tarts in the hospital I reckon.
The Tensa setup looks very interesting.
Nose seems to be healing up nicely as well. Thanks for the video

THANKEE SO MUCH.
Good to see you back. The nose looks great. it always knows. Nice mando practice too!
Dude there's nothing more recognizable than a sam bush lick. That was cool.
The man sure does come up with twisty licks.
Looks like you get to enjoy many different creative pursuits in retirement. Your nose is looking great.
Righto~~~

Same here. May....May!
Always so happy to watch another Shug video! Thank you for sharing. So happy you're progressing well!! :)
Hey Shug. Sorry about your basil cell stuff. Don't feel like the lone ranger cause I had the same thing on my right nostril. My plastic surgeon did a good job on my honker. Folks don't even notice now...nor I.....
Don't expect it to be my last bout though.
The ole shnaz is a looking good Shug! We have Sandy soil down here too. The cork screw kind of stake hold really well and you can get them in plastic to save weight. Since you colors are black & orange, how about a Harley Davison kickstand pad to keep the pole from sinking?
