A split barn find in 20 years, he’s not gonna touch it. Interiors usually go anyway, sometimes if they are in average condition for a used car they are kept, but most of the time they are replaced, the car is not matching numbers so there’s no point in saving it’s engine. If it can be fixed, great, if it can’t, it’s no big deal. That car is waiting to be bought and restored, but Mike and Frank just don’t have the time or money to do it.

1975 my dads colleague told him he had an old Vette that he wanted to sell. My brother was 16 I was 15. The price was $1500. The goal was to buy the car, get it running and driving. Then sell it and use the proceeds to buy us both cars. We went and looked at the car parked in a garage. It had been sitting and was covered with junk and dust. All 4 wheels were locked up and it had been in a minor accident. But it was all there. As I recalled it was a 63 or 64. We ended up passing on it and of course years later they are worth big money.

You can't buy a running driving split window with nice paint and interior in a 4 speed with option engine even non matching for less than 85-90k
Those offers are insulting.. 40k will buy you a low horsepower 64 or 65 roadster with bad paint.

TODAY, not a decade ago, prices on American muscle cars have gone back to the early eighties.............for SHOWROOM examples. Corvettes are probably an exception as they usually weren't driven like McQueen in Bullet: IROCS, Camaros, Chevelles" lot of parts..........in the wrecking yards......as they were wrapped around telephone poles. IF you could buy this car for 40 dad could put another 10 as we know our uphostelry, body, glass, chrome, and other shops, while OUR SHOP would do the DRIVETRAIN, so basiclly no cost for us on the mechanical. NOW you have a car. DEAL with selfl appointed wannabes on body and you'll cause more damage than improvement. It's 'worth" forty grand IF YOU HAVE A SHOP and DO YOUR OWN WORK. if not, you need to but it for 25 "kash" NOW, TODAY. not twenty years ago prices.
