Air Canada A321 Flight YYZ-YVR

- Come with me as I board a Air Canada Airbus A321 from Toronto's Pearson International Airport to Vancouver International Airport. After leaving our previous flight from Boston we head towards customs and security and then off to our gate! I was able to catch a sharp corporate-looking A320 taxing by and a 777-300ER which probaly came from London or Frankfurt. Once onboard the A321, our pushback was delayed for about 20 minutes while the pilots were getting some info on the cargo they were carrying. It would appear that the pushback awoke the barking dog from its sleep ;-) The infamous Airbus PTU (Power Transfer Unit) was followed by the Air Canada Dreamliner taxing by us along with other assorted AC aircraft. While taxing we pass a Jet Airways 777-300ER and the Dreamliner again. We hold short of the runway right behind it! After takeoff my sister gives you a brief demo of the IFE, followed by the meal service. I ordered pizza, a chocolate bar, and a coke. The meal was all together delicious. I watched a few movies on the 4 1/2 hour flight to YVR. Upon arrival in YVR we pass some absolutely gorgeous lakes surrounded by mountains, and a bit of turbulence. When we landed in YVR, one of the first things I saw was a Japan Airlines 787! I had no idea that JAL was doing 787-ops to YVR! We also pass a parked British Airways 747-400 and see a ANA (All Nippon Airways) 767-300 on final approach into the airport. Once we had parked at the gate in the domestic terminal at YVR, the engines shutdown and ended with a quite entertaining show by the A321's PTU! It was going on for so long that a lot of the passengers started making jokes about "dogs and wolves in the cargo hold"! Stay tuned for more videos from My 2014 trip to Vancouver!

I always have my lunch (PBJ) when I watch your trip reports. Keep up the great work!👍🏻
fantastic video with lotsof fantastic "extras" and a special call out to some very hilarious comments..."Oh crap" when seeing the 787 taxi by :-D added a lovely "personal flair" ! Cheers dude!
I actually have this same itinerary in two weeks! BOS-YYZ-YVR.. only difference is that I'm continuing on to ICN after! :-) Thanks for giving me a rough idea on what to expect for my first Air Canada Experience! I'm trying out a whole bunch of airlines now instead of sticking with United or Asiana for all of them, but Star Alliance always :)
"Oh crap" when the Dreamliner appeared. I laughed so hard, because that would be my exact reaction too.. Cool video mate! =)
Thanks dude :-) yeah I was so surprised to see AC Dreamliner at YYZ considering that back in July when this video was taken, that plane was brand new! It was pretty cool! Thanks for the nice comment!
AirlineTraveller dddddffffffffffffff
Gotta love that approach and taxi mid-wing engine noise
You have the best aviation trip reports!
Nice video!
cool video
The black A320 at the beginning is Cubana Airlines, on behalf of Avion Express
Yikes! Must get hot if it's in the sun too long! ;-) thanks for the info! It's a pretty sharp lookin' jet!
al380boy You beat me too it Bill :) Yes Cubana airlines' roster is comprised of Russian Jet's which are not allowed to fly in Canada due to noise restrictions. As a result they Lease A320's for flights to YYZ and YUL. About 6 years ago i flew to Holguín on a TACA A320 operated by Cubana. However the aircraft was in TACA colours Cubana's logo was added to the the sides and the engines. :)
VeoliaSouthwest That is very interesting. I am surprised that they can't even fly their Aeroflot 777's.

I always take air canada airbus 319-320-321 i like this airline. The only thing I remember from my last flight on this plane is the security thing and it is a lot in french but it's correct for me I am french Canadian and I speak english.
great video!
Amazing and complete flight report. That A321 looks so nice at that age. Also amazing views you got there though. Love the A321. I'm flying on it the 2nd of February in almost the same seat as yours. Cheers from Chile!
You're not the only one with an ice chewing problem xD
very nice journey
Waooo good. Bay nyc
Air Canada Toronto is flight to Vancouver.Wow!
You did a great job capturing video of the different planes. Was the pizza any good? It sure looked good.
+Jeff d'Hedouville yeah it was delicious! It definitely exceeded my expectations for economy class food! It was just hard to cut with the plastic utensils that were given to me! Thanks for watching! :-)
+al380boy I am glad that you had a great trip.
good vid bro
i will be flying on caribbean airlines
Nice channel. liked n subbed.
Haha, I flew BOS-YYZ-YVR 3 days earlier on the same planes basicaly :P except it was an A320 from YYZ-YVR instead of an A321 :P
Yes, I originally booked seats on a A320 but I think that since more people wanted to take this flight the airline made a "equipment change" and we were put on a slightly bigger A321... Thanks for the comment! :-)
The screen interface looks very sluggish esp compared to the newer ice systems like the Panasonic ex3 and Thales i800. I was Singapore airlines recently and their 77ws and a350-900 have the ex3 and man that system is so fast and responsive.
Zoraver Singh they've upgraded to the Panasonic ex3 no?
Sdingapore Airlines has the Panasonic Ex3 and Ex2. I know that Air Canada's Wide bodies are equipped with Panasonic IFE. I think that Panasonic's IFE system is better than Thales
What were the other food choices
Nice flight but correct me if I'm wrong, at 25:53 it sounded like someone sneezed pikachu
@Mr. Jet 2017 XD
I think Air Canada should really at least offer a snack for a 4hours flight!!
I live in Vancouveer but air canada isn't my favorite airline
My favourite airline is WestJet. Snacks on a 3 hour flight from Edmonton to Ottawa
Matthew Walsh But Westjet, doesn't offer tv's, I prefer air canada. but i prefer Encore to ACExpress
+DErek Maunder WestJet has Tvs. But they are moving over to their new inflight entertainment. Where you either rent or bring your own tablet and all the tv shows and movies are done through the WestJet app. Also they have wifi.
Matthew Walsh most people like the fact that aircanada has a tv right their ready to use, I can't stand westjet ES but i like their OS
We are taking this flight. Is there a meal at least? The ticket didn't say
I'm curious: are french announcements on AC flights between two non-French-speaking cities like YVR and YYZ always made?
Jm Lim late reply but yes required by the Canadian government all announcements must be in English and French for any Canadian airline. Since Canada is primarily English and French. Correct me if I’m wrong.
My mom used to chew on ice all the time... until her tooth broke
how long was the flight?
From Toronto to Vancouver is 5 hrs
What's the noise at around 5:41
That "barking noise" you hear is the Power Transfer Unit or PTU...is a device that transfers hydraulic power from one of an aircraft's hydraulic systems to another in the event that second system has failed or been turned off. On the A320 family the PTU has a very distinctive "bark" when it is turned on but it is completely normal to hear that briefly when the engines are starting up! Thanks for the comment!
al380boy Thanks for that information. I flew down to California in an A319 and I heard that noise, but didn't here it in any other planes. Thanks
