Majestic - The Toccata a towering pile of magnificence. The ensuing Fugue like a mighty pronouncement from God. And this performance is up to the task.
@@dreadnaught90 Yeah too many factors. I find older recordings tend to have better tempi, but modern recordings tend to have better quality. And it's rare to get to hear performances on proper baroque organs.
I LOVE THIS MUSIC, BUT PLEASE,--- SLOW DOWN JUST A BIT, YOU ARE GOING TO LIVE A LONG TIME, SO WHAT´S THE RUSH. THE MUSIC TAKES ON A FINAL BLOOM WHEN IT IS GIVEN TIME AND SPACE TO EXPAND. IT BECOMES SENSUAL.
Un grand organiste, très virtuose, qui n'a qu'une faible idée de ce qu'est la musique de Bach et surtout pas de ses rythmes...Par moment dans la toccata on est plus proche de la java ou du tango. Tout cela à cause d'une bête précipitation.
Mr. Preston, what a blessing to hear you play and to hear you play a Bach masterpiece!!!
Thank You Simon and God bless!!
fantastic recording, some breathtaking stops in action here! 😁💞😁

Great performance. Fast but safe.
This is truly a performance worthy of all the superlatives that can be heaped upon it,,,,,
and then some more,,,
for good measure
Awesome
You are always welcome, Gerald !
The best version EVER of this monumental work, Bach used to test the "lungs" of the organs with this magnificent piece of music.
don't you post this again and again?
NO, only picture is the same. Write the number of work (BWV 540) in "Search" in my profile, please. Have a nice day!
There is never a BEST version. It's all personal opinion. But I would offer Helmut Walcha's recording of this piece as a definitive version.

The fugue is extremely well-played. The toccata a bit fast.

I dunno, this is pretty sexy if you ask me.
