Interesting morning,.lots of comments, too. I too enjoyed the farming conversation , more prevalent in the heartland than the highly urbanization area I live in, although I grew up in 50's and 60's in the central valley, lots of tomatoes and rice out in the Yolo bypass, the area was used in winter for over flow from the Sacrameto River to prevent flooding down stream. Now we have dams, flooding not so much an issue. Another great morning, thanks Mike Ted
Good evening, Ted; Thank you for dialing in and the comments. It was interesting to chat with that fella this morning. There was more that did not make it on the video. I wish them a happy time exploring the western slope of Colorado. We did get about 3 spits of rain today. By radar, the area of eastern Nebraska I mentioned did get some rain. Too little too late but they did get some. Oh well. I hope that you have a great evening out there. Please take care and stay safe!
Good morning, Jeb; Thank you for dropping by as well as the comments. The humidity is up, and we are sandwiched between a storm front in western Nebraska and one along the front range that was shooting lightning bolts this morning. Chances of rain here are nil. I did enjoy that chat with the gent and his family. I am hoping their stay out here is a wonderful experience for them. Have a great Monday. Please take care and stay safe!
Good day Mike. A nice busy day on the platform and some friendlies to chat with. Always pleased when Ric brings the #5 in with minimal groaning and squealing, great job. Lovely day outside here today, so getting the fall chores done. Hope you had a good start to the week, thanks and stay well.
Good evening, Dan; I thank you for tuning in along with the comments. I did enjoy the chat this morning. Not often I get a chance to chat with someone from Illinois here at the depot. Ric does have a flair for operating the Zephyrs in style. Although well before breakfast hour i=on the train, I don't think any coffee or other libation was spilled in the making of that stop, LOL!! Have a great evening and a super Tuesday. Please take care and stay safe1
Good Morning, Mike. Great start to the week. When you hear that "Aaw right!" from Ric you know it's going to be a good one. Based on your international viewership & the nice folks you get to chat with on the platform, you truly are a blessed individual enjoying himself as well as making alot of folks happy. Thanks for the efforts. Stay safe & please be careful. Enjoy the Day!!! 😊
Good morning, Jimm; Thank you for stopping by along with the comments. I am always in awe of the numbers that seem to enjoy watching the Zephyrs make a stop at a rural station. I am humbled by that and considered myself blesses to have that viewership. It is always fun for me to interact with the passengers as well as the train crews. I hope to enjoy doing this for a long time to come. Have a great afternoon and evening back there. Please take care and stay safe!
Good morning, Carolyn; Thank you for dropping by as well as the comments. All is well here. It was a nice start to the week. Have a great Monday down there. Plese take care and stay safe! 🤓👋👌👍🐓😎
Good morning, Mike; I thank you for tuning in as well as the comments. That was a nice sized crowd this morning. Just about right size for a rural station. Both arriving and departing. Have a great Monay. Please take care and stay safe!
Good afternoon, Ken; I thank you for dialing in and the comments. I did enjoy the chat this morning. Kinda covered some horn music but oh well. Have a great afternoon and evening back there. Plese take care and stay safe!
Good morning Mike. I hadn't heard that departure before. I'm sure he said approach medium. Interesting. Nice visit you had with that gentleman. Have a great day.
Good morning, David; Thanks for dropping by and the comments. Yep. Flashing Amber with solid Amber at east Bijou. The Brush sub is busy this morning. Doesn't look as though that slow order did much to the schedule for the Zephyr though. I did enjoy the chat this morning. He does look in from home. Looks like another nice weather day. Getting spoiled. Have a great Monday up there. Please take care and stay safe!
Good morning Mike: Nice video this morning. Nice conversation with the passengers this morning. The Dodgers made it to the world series. We should see Darrell tomorrow or Wednesday if I count right. Can you believe train 4 was over 12 hours late yesterday. You have a great day and be safe.😊😊😊😊😊
Good morning, Gerald; Thanks for stopping by along with the comments. It was nice to chat with him and his family. They were going to Glenwood Springs and to return tomorrow evening. More road trip beyond that. I wish them the best in their tour. Not too happy about the Dodgers but don't care for the Yanks either. Oh well. At least the Avalanche won and are trying to even up their record for the year. I did see the SWC was running really late again. That is a lot of traffic on the Transcon down there. PSR (Precision Scheduled Railroading) really does a lot for the freight roads and hampers AMTRAK tremendously. Anyway, I hope that you have a great Monday down there. Please take care and stay safe!
Good Monday morning Mike! A beautiful 56 degrees here at 08:24 AM! Should be 80 today easily! Not humid either. Got to hear Ric this morning on the radio! They are running a bit early again. More time for breakfast and rest after they get into Denver! Have a great Monday out your way Sir! I definitely am here! Mark in Iowa.
Good morning, Mark; Thank you for dialing in and the comments. I think that crew is off for a couple of days before they start again. Could not miss the white towel and the vocal. Anyway, have a great Monday back there. Please take care and stay safe!
Good morning, John; I thank you for stopping by along with the comments. Yep. I do like his station stops. Professionalism showing thru. I have only visited Galesburg via the Zephyrs. I would like to visit long enough to tour the yards and other rail facilities. For now, watching thru the Virtual Railfan cameras and other videos will have to do. Hope that you have a great Monday. Please take care and stay safe!
Good afternoon, Paul; Thank you for tuning in and the comments. The sun is shining with a clear sky. Seems to be headed for a really nice day again. Should stay around 70 F. for at least another week. I can deal with that. Have a great evening over there. Pease take care and stay safe!
Some pleasant folks on the platform with you this morning Mike. Great video. Thank you and have a great day. P.S. If I might ask a question Mike, when the train leaves the station, we see it knock down the closest signal light then after a minute or so, that light goes out. Sometimes, after it goes out, it will come back on showing red. Does that indicate another train in the block? I noticed this morning that after it came back on, we could hear a train whistling grade crossing but it sounded pretty close, like it was inside the no-horn zone. Was that just the CZ with a favorable wind and atmosphere sounding louder than usual this morning? Just wondering and thought you might know. Thanks again.
Good morning, Lou; Thank for tuning in as well as the comments. It is always neat to have a chat with a viewer traveling thru. I hope they enjoy their stay and tour out here. Have a great Monday back there. Please take care and stay safe!
Good morning Mike from 41 clear mid Tenn. The #356 loco, I thought the 300 series # were for the new ALC42's. But this one was definitely a P42. Ric sure does a good on time, fast in ,fast out operation doesn't he?
Good morning, Ben; Thank you for dialing in as well as the comments. We re warmer than your area? There is always something. LOL! We are spoiled with the mild temperatures here. My error and has been fixed. A typo that got by my proofreader (me). The # sign didn't transfer, or I didn't get the Shift button pushed. Yep. The 300s are for the ALC42s. Like many others, I wonder when or if we will see them in revenue service out here. I am not going to hold my breath. Anyway, I thank you for catching the typos. They have been amended. Have a great Monday back there. Please take care and stay safe!
Good morning, latecomerr6270; Thank you for stopping by and the comment. I am very familiar with Wilbur. I was born in Fairbury. Have driven HWY 15 for many years. Used to be thru Crete to Lincoln and back. Last time was all the way to South Dakota and beyond. I still have many relatives down in Jefferson County and that area. Anyway, have a great Monday. Please take care and stay safe!
Good evening, megindenver; Thank you for looking in and the question. I know where Red Oak is at. I am from a bit farther west in a small town of Fairbury, Nebraska. I still have many relatives in that area. Have a great evening over there. Please take care and stay safe!
Good morning, rsbennett6589; Thank you for looking in and the question. I have no idea as to why the Approach Medium and Approach signals were lit today. The Brush Sub has been bust all morning and the Zephyr may have been diverted thru the Bijou siding around a BNSF freight that was too long for the siding. Anyway, I hope that you have a great day. Please take care and stay safe!
Good morning, and thanks for dialing in. I appreciate it. Yep. Those two things kinda go hand in hand out here. Got me to the coffee shop in time. LOL! Have a great Monday. Please take care and stay safe!
Do they ever run ALC42s on the Zephyr? I know the Empire builder switched over a couple years ago. Will also be riding it in December, though from Denver to GJ and back the next day.
Good evening and thank you for stopping by as well as the comments/question. No ALC42s are slated to operate leading the Zephyr yet. To my knowledge, the snow ingestion problem has not been addressed by the manufacturer. The Empire Builder does use a Charger in part of the consist from Spokane west on the section to Seattle. The snow is much more sticky there than it is east across the interior to Chicago. There are 3 locomotives assigned. Two P42s and a single ALC42 included in the package The snow quality is a much finer and dryer type than the concrete stuff on the east side of the mountains to the Pacific coast. Once they get that issue addressed and fixed, I am sure we will see the Chargers heading the Zephyrs as well as the other two long distance trains. I hope that your tour with the Zephyr is a good one. Have a great evening and a super Tuesday. Please take care and stay safe!
Yeah Mike I'm catching yesterday's video today. Yeah I get that about the corn and beans. I remember as a kid saying a lot more alfalfa and Milo and a lot of diversity in the fields. Even some clover. But I go out there all to Nebraska and they talk about clover as a cover crop in the winter time. But you know you don't hear about all the other stuff that they used to grow out there I guess you know that the corn and beans are required for all of the industrial things that people do nowadays. And you know I miss the smell of it. I was in beamer and West point and it all smells like hog poop. You know and I remember growing up out there you didn't smell that hardly at all. And it's kind of disgusting because I can't breathe with all that stuff in the air.

What part of eastern Nebraska?l. I am from SW Iowa (Red Oak / Villisca). Greetings again from Rome, Italy.

Good morning, rsbennett6589; Thank you for looking in and the question. I have no idea as to why the Approach Medium and Approach signals were lit today.
