  • It’s been a busy week here in the forest! I’m trying to set myself up for success by having multiple forms of heat and power generation. It’s all coming together and I’m excited to give you all another update!

    I'm enjoying your content. It's like following a gamer leveling up quickly on a new playthrough. One suggestion for your channel if you want to grow subscribers, is to show the actual process of building stuff using a tripod with your phone. A time lapse of the container getting lifted to its footings would have been great, for example. Either way I'm interested in following the progress of your build even if it's just updates and walkthroughs... Keep up the good work!

      Yes!! Yes yes! I want to start doing this now that things have calmed down a bit. Go through more in detail each step. I’m just really bad about getting the camera set up to watch while I work haha

    Just found your channel. Subscribed. Fellow off gridder here in Canada, Love your authenticity, your messes
    and your magyvering when needed. Great channel. As a fellow off gridder I find your set up interesting, could you provide a link to the equipment you use, batteries charge controller etc. keep the video's flowing

      Thank you! It's been a wild ride so far and I'm only getting more excited as time goes by! Basically everything I have right now is from Sungold Power, their website being sungoldpower.com. I'm a little less than impressed with the all-in-one charge controller (it's loud and one unit has already gone out on me) but they do have good deals on their equipment. You get what you pay for though I suppose

    Rig up a hand pump for now. Also, rain collection would be great. Doesn't have to be sophisticated at first. Collect rain off your roof and direct it into rain barrels.

      Haha I’ve actually thought about getting rain water collection going! The hand pump idea is a good idea as well! If there weren’t water available to carry in so close I would definitely have to get one.

    Carbon monoxide is heavier than air. So you need to have your detector closer to the floor, usually

      👍Great to know, I have it below the level I sleep at but above the propane heater I've got, I'll have to move it down a bit

    Thinking its possible that the broken unit was cycling on/off an excessive amount due to lower voltage. I bet you'll have more luck with this new board and you got the old one for parts. Grats on the well! I bet it feels good to know the water won't be a problem. I'm curious how does water drain off these containers. Does it pool up on top or what?

    • @FrozenFrontiers
      @FrozenFrontiers  11 місяців тому +1

      It is entirely possible that is the reason it broke. Also, the generator from this new unit seems to be running a LOT better, no major fluctuations which I'm sure is helping.
      This last week has been a major load off of my shoulders because of the various things that have been completed or are in the process of being completed.
      They actually build the containers with a slight hump down the whole middle of the container so that water will filter off of either side. As long as you don't have any dents in the top the water just filters off. I have a dent right near my chimney that gets water to pool on it so when I do my deck on top I'll be sure to have the overhang of the roof cover that section to help mitigate water build up there.

    I would put the am being gassed detector at 6:09, where you are, not where the heater is, e.g. if the heating is on in the night when you sleep, there, and any where else you sleep day watch TV/UA-cam or night your going to sleep? or any one else anywhere?

      Yeah this is a good call. The heater is within 10 ft of my bedroom door so I'll probably get one for in my bedroom and one for in the main area. :)
