5:17 The correct claim is "the first documented decorated Christmas tree". So, it answers your question if it's possible to know - it is, because it's documented.
As a Latvian absolutely love your healthy nihilistic shit is everywhere you just have to climb and try to have fun with it energy...One of the best travel videos about Latvia.
I like your traveling style, of just picking something weird on a map and going there to see it, while also just wandering around the area. I think you're the first UA-camr who's shown so many lesser known spots around my home country. Thank you!
The guy who was not accepted into the guild, built a bigger one next to it with cats bottoms facing that other guild. Now they have turned them facing that building
Man.. as an Estonian, Latvia just.. is special. It really is a beautiful country and has a really pleasant vibe to it. Would move there if I spoke gobbledygook...
I'm so glad you're back showing us your adventures! Love the history, so interesting. I didn't know Latvia kept being overtaken but I'm glad they were able to rebuild. I could live in Kuldiga, it's so beautiful! I really like your style, wide shots, getting lost as usual and the animals: statues, cats and dog. Thanks for bringing us along!
41:03 I felt that! Great to have your whole travelog in one omnibus, but I also enjoyed the shorter ones. Glad to have you back on thsi side of things and that you're travelling again.
I am so happy to see new things here! I loved the Les Stroudesq walk away from the camera shots. Especially knowing you had to go back and get that camera and then walk the same route again. Still only a third of the way through, and it is so great. "And this tastes like an assault!" I love your descriptions so much. They just make me laugh every time. I really missed this kind of stuff from you. Back to the rest of the video. Some of the places/things you traverse make me nervous even to watch. That is great filming. Love it. Thanks for showing us places that might be much harder for us to get to. So fun.
I'm really working on making those incremental improvements with things and I was trying a bunch of new ideas in this one so I'm glad they seemed to work. Thank you.
Hi Matthew, it was great to see a new video this morning from you. Enjoyed seeing all of the different cities across Latvia that you visited. You always have many interesting History facts and interesting stories about important events that occurred in the places you explore. Always enjoy your reactions to your Pop in a Bar segments. The way you described that Licorice Drink it sound pretty thick and strong. Looking forward to your future exploration adventures. Onward and Upwards till next time Matthew.
The amount of times you go "oh this isn't a path, oops" and the real path is RIGHT THERE and you just keep going down the non-path... "The only thing gangster about this is that it tastes bootlegged" made me laugh And lastly: How quickly you forget our jaunt up a lighthouse on PEI
Dang, that's true actually and the little guy that worked there was nice. But this was a 'lighthouse' lighthouse, you know. Like a lighthouse lighthouse lighthouse
Enjoy your interesting travel vids Matthew, and your humour and history you always provide. Just wish maybe when you find the cool place you're looking for (like the lighthouse, castles etc) that you film a little more of it? Often it's spend ages getting there and then film for a few mins and move on :) Also just curious is the country/towns really that empty or do you cut out parts when people don't like you filming? I notice your videos in general don't have much locals interaction which is the only thing I feel your videos miss- though don't know what level of English locals speak in Latvia. Lastly where do you stay in these videos? Would be nice to have a quick look at the quirky accomodation in future :)
Ah-ha! I thought the dearth of ‘Remember, Remember’ pieces meant you were abroad in the widest sense of the word! Memories here of my own travels in Latvia. Recognised the castle and the heavily carved caves and downtown Riga. Thought you might have visited the all weather Bobsleigh run (not far from the caves if I recall correctly) - looked like fairly lethal fun and not for the inexperienced! As for the Black Balsam, I missed (swerved!) that one. I have tried Friars Balsam for colds, which a) also clears your tubes and b) ruins your kitchen work surfaces and c) is so noxious it encourages you to both never use it again and never get another cold in case someone suggests you try it again! Also, I have got liquorice in ‘twig’ form, possibly from a chemist and, while old, I can’t claim it was in the 1920’s! 😂
@@YesLandTravel I, like you, found Latvia impressive scenically and kind of quiet. Bit flat mind, for my liking. I’m a pointy and jagged man if I’m honest!
"I came here to see some cats." That's my kind of vacation. Then you said castles and caves and hiking. I'm already jealous and I'm not even half way through the video yet!
This was awesome! I have been collecting Jesus on a Surfboard sightings and I needed one from Latvia to complete my Baltic set! Halleluiah! I still need one from Liberia if you happen to be headed that way next. Cheers!
I just don’t know … I feel cheated that you rented a car! Although watching you start it made up for the betrayal of not walking! So happy to see another episode! I loved it! Such a great mix of facts and humor and emotional (heartbreaking and uplifting history)
Haha, thank you for watching and honestly the car was something I wasn't sure about. It let me get to a lot more places but it's not something I always want to do.
Huzzah! I have never been up in that area of the world. I would love to. I have many friends that work for the Canadian government and get posted somewhere different every few years, and several of them have requested Riga in their top 5 each time.
The doll section reminded me of a norther Japanese town with a big population shrinkage issue and an older woman made a bunch of straw people to place all over the town as it disappears. Hundreds of them.
ngl, for the opening shot I thought you were being pursued. I had so many questions. I also had respect for the journalistic integrity to film it going down. Matthew didn't choose the Skux Life. The Skux Life chose him.

It`s great that You saw more then Riga and Sigulda! Greetings from Latvia!
The guy who was not accepted into the guild, built a bigger one next to it with cats bottoms facing that other guild. Now they have turned them facing that building
Yes lad! He's back baby! 🎉🎉
Yuhh yuhh!
Man.. as an Estonian, Latvia just.. is special. It really is a beautiful country and has a really pleasant vibe to it. Would move there if I spoke gobbledygook...
A new video?! I'm grabbing a coffee and watching it right now!
I really hope you enjoy it! Thank you
Glad to see you back Matthew. This was entertaining and inspirational.
I'm going to be doing a lot more here from now on, thank you for being here and watching!
Yesssssss. I love having your commentary as I work
Cheers man, that makes me very happy.
Wonderful! Great to see you back in your element again, and apparently with a runner who can set up wide walking shots. Nice touches.
Yes, no one had to go back an retrieve any cameras at all...
Oh I just got back from Latvia today! Loved it!
And welcome back, yay! Looking forward to more travel vids
I hope you had as good a time as I did! There's lots more to come! Thank you for watching
You’re back! Love the gladiator reference! Lolol
It's impossible to resist when in a field of wheat.
this is a welcome surprise
I'm back baby!

I honestly took me a hot minute to realise how much that hurt.
Yay! So wonderful to see you back, your videos always make me smile 😊
That means a lot to me, thank you for watching
Thanks for the video! You always find such interesting places to show us. I feel like my kid would like the doll place in Sabile.
Hey Ambie! It was a lot of driving but I'm glad it was worth it. I'm sure they would have like it!
“And this tastes like… an assault” 😅
-Matthew, lost in Latvia!
It did the trick though. Thank you for watching man!

I have watched A LOT of Les Shroud in my time. I love him! Thank you for the kind words and I'm really looking forward to filming a lot more.
Best one yet! The editing was top notch.
I'm really working on making those incremental improvements with things and I was trying a bunch of new ideas in this one so I'm glad they seemed to work. Thank you.
Beautiful
best one yet, Matthew!
Thank you! I'm really trying to improve with every video.
Great to see you again! Love these travel vids
Thank you so much for watching. I'm doing my best to make this more regular for sure.
Great show. Good to see you on the road again.
I'm going to be on the road a lot, thank you for watching Frank

Thank you Ben and yes! There are more plans being made!

Great video Matthew - thoroughly enjoyed it. Would love to visit Latvia - you make it so intetesting.
Thank you for watching!

I was thinking just last week…where’s he been? So glad to see this post 😊 As always, moving, educational, and hilarious. Well worth the wait.
Thank you, I appreciate the support a lot
Woohoo! New video! I shall watch this later 🎉 😁
Well this is a preemptive thank you for watching!
It was nice to see my country Latvia from your perspective. Great video, thanks :)))
Oh thank you so much! That's always a worry when a local watches!
I love these videos
And I love that you love them! Thank you for watching. There's lots more to come!
A new adventure, great stuff, more exploring, more pop and bar 🙂
and lots more to come! Thank you for being here James
14:00 i think you are going to the third castle here. Second one was where the wedding was
Well done
Thank you for watching!

Haha, yeah it's an acquired taste but I did kinda like it. I really enjoyed my time in Latvia and would go back for sure. Thank you for watching.

I'm always on the look out for cats! Thank you for watching
Was gonna complain about the lack of cats, then he hit me with a solid "deedle deedle deet" of a cat painting. Well played, sir.
I'm always on the look out!
This was awesome! I have been collecting Jesus on a Surfboard sightings and I needed one from Latvia to complete my Baltic set! Halleluiah! I still need one from Liberia if you happen to be headed that way next. Cheers!
One day I'll get that ticked off for us both. Cheers for watching mate
@21:46 Scritches 'Round the World returns!
And, no, porcelain cat, bronze statue cat, and painting cat do not count.
Ok good to know, they were just a little bonus.
"sweet, syrupy, and on fire" sounds very attractive as beverages go. Ok, back to the watch.
Look, it grew on me. I liked it

You approach getting lost in the real world like I do with getting lost in an open world RPG (but I travel with waypoints) LOL
Huzzah! I have never been up in that area of the world. I would love to. I have many friends that work for the Canadian government and get posted somewhere different every few years, and several of them have requested Riga in their top 5 each time.
Latvia is one of the most unexpectedly beautifuly places I've been for sure.
Still watching and laughing at you making things more difficult than necessary. "Why did I just come tramping through that thicket!?" hahahaha
The doll section reminded me of a norther Japanese town with a big population shrinkage issue and an older woman made a bunch of straw people to place all over the town as it disappears. Hundreds of them.
Ok, I'm going to need to look in to that. Sounds like my kinda weird.
ngl, for the opening shot I thought you were being pursued. I had so many questions. I also had respect for the journalistic integrity to film it going down.
Matthew didn't choose the Skux Life.
The Skux Life chose him.
Ha, I on'y filmed it once so I'm glad it worked out haha.
Creepy Doll Museum is a horror movie waiting to happen.
That was the feeling I had...
New video who dis 👀
It feels good to be back at it!
Team metal detector!!
Heck yeah! Thank you for watching!
I'm a Latvian and most likely I have had less Black Balsam than you :D
Haha, good to know. I kinda liked it. Thank you for watching
I think its meant to be mixed with something - like cola - then it's ok. try 50/50 with cola.
Your like a not creepy bald and bankrupt. Hope your channel does well.
