    This is a beginner crash course into DIY Hearing Aid Self Programming. I will be making an entire series on how to program your hearing aids and breaking down each section video, by video. I still learn new things about the software all the time and don't know everything but I will share what I have learned.

    Great guide, answered many lingering questions about the basic functionality of the program. So helpful. Very much looking forward to to further guides, the 'Frequency Lowering' sounds very interesting.

    Wow, wish I saw this 6 months ago. I've been doing DIY and to improve the distortion I get when playing guitar. I have two programs that work well but probably not optimal and hope your later videos cover some of this. The higher up the fretboard I play the more distorted the sounds can get. I don't think frequency is recommended for music though. I am now considering Widex moment 440's. I have the Philips 9030 and wonder if the the 9050's will have any improvements related to live music. Obviously Widex VS 9050 is going to be a huge cost difference even with the $3K hearing benefit. Thanks for a great video and looking forward to future videos on this subject. I think a video dedicated to music and more notably live playing and/or listening to moderately loud music would be a huge success for you. I've found a lot but what is hard, for a guitar player like me, is to find just the right gains that improve the sound but no add any note doubling, pitch shifting, or any other artifacts a normal hearing person might experience. Wish I could afford Widex since I've heard those 0.5 msec delays really help a lot and I'm sure Philips is in the 5-8 msec typical ranges. Oh is that audiogram is yours we are almost identical, lol. My loses might start a bit soon but the magnitudes are the same and I also use the open bass domes. Thanks again.

      My pleasure sir! Regarding the 9050 and music, they haven’t made any changes for music so I doubt it would sound any different. I have a video coming out in a couple of days highlighting all the updates for the 9050

      @@HearingClub So probably nothing directly for music but since it's a new chip from the 9030 and 9040, better AI, etc, I'm hoping the overall fidelity might be improved enough to affect how music sounds. I wonder if it's a new receiver or just the same ones? And of course reduced lots of the artifacts I get with the 9030's...wind, hair and movement noises.

    I've only had hearing aids for three weeks, but I'm intrigued by the thought of making adjustments myself. I have watched your two videos on programming several times now.
    I ordered a Noahlink Wireless 2 yesterday and already have the Phonak Target software. I purchased the Phonak L90-RL's, so I would be very interested in seeing you make a programming video using the Phonak Target software. Very nicely done, thanks!

    Current Costco client with Jabra Pro Enhanced. I've been waiting for these diy videos. You are the man! I wish I could get you to adjust mine.
    1. If you didn't select new fitting, would the current settings in your HAs get imported into the software?
    2. Is there a way to import REM data that was done at Costco just as you did with the audiogram data?
    3. With regards to the fitting rationale,
    would you speak more about
    nal-nl2. My Jabra are set to the Jabra proprietary algorithm. I've been wearing aids since 2010 with the Bernafon Juna 9's and I've always wondered if using nal-nl2 algorithm would have made the aids sound better all around. I am a musician and that's just as important to me as speech.
    Oh, 1more question:
    Can the Jabra app's frequencies adjustments be changed to different frequency ranges?

    Excellent video explaining all the variations of settings that can be made. This video made it easy to understand just how fitting software for hearing aids actually works. I am wondering if some brands other than Phillips are "locked" and so DIY fitting software would not be possible to use. We all are looking forward to more on using the software to make DIY adjustments!

    well, my comment was lost but here it is again. I really appreciate your presentation. It's very informative, especially what your experiences have been programming the HA. I was not ready to DIY, but now I think I have to do it to fix my HA adjustments. My story began with me buying the Jabra enhance pro HA. I loved how it improved my hearing. But I quickly found out the Bluetooth connectivity of the Jabra was nowhere near the level of my old KS10s (aka phonak) HA. This was such a problem I returned the Jabra HA and got my money back. I decided I will keep y KS10s another year and hope Jabra fixes their Bluetooth problems. So, I asked my audiologist to tune up my KS10s, which included a firmware upgrade. Well, the firmware reset the HA and no problem, my audiologist simply restored my previous HA settings to the KS10s. But this is not working out. Something changed in the firmware. I asked the audiologist to do a full best practices setup, but she said it would take a long time AND my previous settings should be fine. They are not working well, so I am going to DIY to try and salvage enough of my KS10s to go another year. My previous audiologist always did a full best practice whenever he tuned my HA, but unfortunately, he retired.
    Anyway, again, thank you so much for the information and suggestions.

    Is there going to be a follow up video or videos? This was a great start but it has me aching for more detail in how to cure certain issues. For example how do we determine how to fix situations where we can hear but not understand. The fitting software does not seem to be available currently.

      There will be many programming videos. Unfortunately, my full time job only allows for so much time to be spent making videos and with new OTC products constantly being released and new innovations come out, it’s hard to keep up. I’m trying my best but it all takes time :)

    At around 2 min you said since this was a stand alone version of the HearSuite program you did not need NOAH, which confused me because later you in fact linked up thru NOAH. I do have NOAH and was led to believe that was always necessary to connect and program hearing aids. I do know you can run the HearSuite program without NOAH and that's just in a demo mode which is what I did to become more familiar with the program before I bought the NOAH box.
    Does "set to target" cancel all the tweaked the fitting assistant has made for you? Does it also set to the setting prior to the REM changes the Costco fitter made or does it preserve those REM changes and consider those the "target" settings.
    Again, love this video, thanks. I've been DIY for over 6 months and I'm learning a lot from you. I've made sure to not change the P1 program much and have focused more on my custom music/guitar playing programs. Soon I'll go back in for another hearing test since I'm at about 1 1/2 yrs with these 9030's and really want to get the 9050's when they come out...soon I hope. I would buy the 9040's is knew for sure the 9050's would be available withing 6 months but I can wait.

    • @HearingClub

      I see the confusion and apologize. The physical device needed for programming the hearing aids is the “Noahlink wireless programmer” and this is 100% required to connect and program the hearing aids. There is another Noah reference and what I’m talking about is a program called NOAH, this is something we use at work and not required.

    • @sdcoffeeroaster
      @sdcoffeeroaster 2 місяці тому

      @@HearingClub Yes I did figure that out. No apology needed. You are doing a great service for those of us that need to do some DIY. Oh I've been buying my own domes since my Costco fitter told me I should not have to change them for 6 months or more. I found the almost all the ones on Amazon are not the newer open bass dome but just the older style open dome and then tend to feedback a lot more. Going to get the right ones today at Costco.

      Gotcha and my pleasure! Regarding setting to target, that will overwrite any fine tuning changes for sure, including the fine tuning done while performing REM measurements.

    If you could please address my former questions, I'd appreciate it. 😉
    Also, regarding the REM data in my Costco profile: is there a specific file in the software that contains my HA data? Including the REM? If so, I could place that file in it's proper place in my own fitting software and thus have the complete data. This would be a good question to ask support.

    • @HearingClub
      @HearingClub  2 місяці тому

      Yes you should be able to do this, I believe it’s called auto REM but I never use this feature. I like to program the hearing aids myself. And yes, your fitting data is stored in the hearing aid and in the software. Every fitting session is saved and can be loaded into the hearing aids.

    • @domenic323
      @domenic323 2 місяці тому

      So you are saying that when I connect my hearing aids, that were programmed by Costco, to my home implementation, the REM data is included? I apologize for not being more specific, but I was asking if there was a profile file in Costcos system that I could copy to a USB stick and put that file in the proper directory on my home system so that the complete Costco programming would show up on my system?
