- There's A LOT to talk about when it come to Kris's soul, how are we controlling them? How did we gain control? Is the Soul ever Kris's to begin with? Are we the only one's in here?

Kris, Neolle, Dess, and Asrael were said to have hung out as kids. Its also said, if i remember right, that Kris was always following Asrael. We know Kris liked to Prank/Scare Noelle when they hung out. We could infer that they were friends mainly because Asrael and Dess were Friends as the two would be the oldest and would have known each other long enough to be friends while Noelle and Kris were only little kids hanging out with their older siblings. Not to say they werent actual friends but it could go either way.
I would like to see Kris moving close to Asriel all the time, preventing us from moving 😅
Andrew just makes such good videos presenting every detail about a topic, discussing it and give his thoughts about it. xD
Oh don't I know it!!
Now that you've been doing so much Deltarune stuff, have you considered reacting to some HalfBreadChaos videos? I think the theories on that channel are some of the most interesting out there, with "What is the Nightmare in the Shadow of the Knight's Hand?" and "What is in The Closet Dark World" probably being my favorites.
I'll definitely have to check them out. I've been getting alot of suggestions so It may take me a bit to get to them.
@@Fort_Master I know you said it may take you a bit, but do you still have this on your list?
@@SuperRayman001 yes it is, sorry it's taking so long...
@@Fort_Master I do not want to be pushy, but is this on your list still? It's been over half a year lol
@@SuperRayman001 It's recorded and edited, just some things infront of it
The fact that Kris can get out of our control at such specific moments in the story makes me think that Kris already has a stronger determination than ours, but every time we save we acquire a "Zenkai style" determination boost that makes us the dominant consciousness most of the time.
7:10 the reason everyone thinks kirs is acting differently, is because we are making decisions for them, and most likely decisions kirs themselves wouldn't make.
correction on flowey. he can feel emotions, just not love. im sure he felt fear when he realised i was going to kill him during the murder run :)
i dont think thats typical tho, i think even he was surprised that he was afraid
@@gristen i mean of course hes surprised hes scared. he hasnt been scared since his SUI attempt probably. hes all powerful and has met his match. a match thats very unhappy with him.
Fear is not a emotion, its a instinct, like hunger or pain, thats why flowey can feel it
Reminds me of alphy's review of mew mew kissy cutie 2 in the library of deltarune chapter 1. Just like the bead toy in the hospital is a metaphor for the game, i think that review is also a metaphor comparing 2 games, Alphys goes hard on the point that the second MMKC is darker than the first and that in the second the main character is actually a character, and that inthe first one the protagonist was really stale
7:25 Its because the player its clearly making choices of what to say and what to do that are out of Kris' character. We take control of Kris, while Kris takes a backseat in his own mind and watches us make choices for him, thats why sometimes he sounds weird, in like he says he likes Ralsei, but he says it in a confused tone, while he clearly seems eager to say he likes Sussie, but cant quite express it to the full extent he wants to.

Kris is exclusively referred to with they/them pronouns
I'd like to recommend mollystars' videos on their Device Theory for Deltarune. While they haven't uploaded a video on the theory itself yet, parts 1 & 2 are both a very good summary about most things interesting in and around Deltarune and are also very well made as well.
You should take a look at The Device Theory by Molly Stars. Its very long, but extremely well sourced.
god this andrew video always had 1 major flaw that seems so obvious, that being the possibility that kris had their own soul before, and it was removed and replaced with the one we control.
andrew keeps saying we only have 2 options if the soul is the players "kris was soulless before or kris has 2 souls now" which kept annoying me for ignoring that possibility
Oh he brought that up in the comment reading livestream, he just assumed that possibility was implied but realized after the fact that he should have specified that in the video.
Like another commenter said, that possibility wasn't discounted in the video, it just wasn't brought up since it didn't affect his conclusions, Kris having their own soul is part of the "Kris was soulless before game start" hypothesis, the soul was simply taken beforehand in this scenario. Andrew later realized it was a mistake not to mention this.
You should watch Berdly: Deeper Thank You Think! It gives a whole new layer of depth and intrigue to his character. I'm sure you'll thank me later.
Thank you Roserade, whoever made that video must be very intelligent and cool.
Can I recommend
Deltarune theory: The Universal Mother by Kooki Autumn
She doesn't do alot of videos, but this one has alot of great character speculation especially about Toriel
Yes, it's such a good video
I believe we the player have taken control of Kris’ soul, and that’s why he shuffles around all zombie like without it and needs to return it after doing his business, like a puppet trying to move without its strings. I also agree with Andrew that there being a 3rd controlling entity… would be stupid. I don’t think the narrative genius that is Toby Fox would write something so contrived as it would further undermine the whole point of the character. Now this does have some serious complications in regards to Snowgrave, but I’m not personally playing the Snowgrave route as it would make me sad, therefore I don’t consider the Snowgrave route as canon. As far as I’m concerned, my opinion of what’s going on with Kris conforms perfectly to the pacifist run and that’s good enough by me
Having watching this video again I've kind of come to a new interpretation of how Kris creating a Dark Fountain after Snowgrave makes sense. For one my interpretation involves the idea that the player's soul control on Frisk is limited to an extent, yes it can make decisions but as far as text/story related decisions go it can only choose from pre-made options that are reasonable in the situation. Where I'm going with this is that said reasonable options are what Kris would deem as reasonable responses. Yes there are options you're given that Kris seems to object to, but they're never unreasonable, it's fair to say they're something Kris would think of even if he'd object to it.
Now to explain why this is relevant, in Chapter 2 there's actually a really interesting hidden interaction in the game. During the first Annoying Mouse puzzle, there's nothing actually stopping you from skipping it all together. There's no gate or anything, Noelle simply gets spooked by the maus when you step on the switch and requests for you to finish the puzzle. If you ignore Noelle's wishes and attempt to leave her in the room, she will call out to ask you what you're doing, and after repeating this interaction multiple times eventually a dialogue option of two choices "Sorry, I'll Do the Puzzle", or "Proceed". You even have to choose Proceed multiple times until Noelle commits to it, and this is completely unrelated but obviously referencing the Snowgrave route.
I can not stress how this might be one of the most important lines in the game despite how little people know it even exists. For one "Sorry I'll Do the Puzzle" is such an out of character line for the game. Not because it doesn't fit Kris's character, but because unlike most other choices in the game, this isn't an action Kris gets to interrupt, this is just what he's going to say out loud. The player wouldn't come up with that, Kris did on his own. Which also implies he came up with "Proceed". Given we know Kris is a bit of prankster, I think it's clear this is Kris battling with two different sides on themself on how to tackle the situation. He knows Noelle is being overly unreasonable in this situation, it was demonstrated you can just leave the room without hassle but she's trying to make you complete the puzzle anyways, of course a part of them would want her to just get over it already. The fact the other option is Kris apologizing, despite it being the player attempting to make this decision and not themself is just as telling, is he apologizing on behalf of the player, is he apologizing because part of them is alright with this outcome occurring, who knows.
What I do know however is that where I'm going with this is that the unlike what the video says, Snowgrave isn't some horrific story about Kris being forced against his will to brainwash his friend, it's a story where Kris against his will gets to enact a side of themself he typically can't go through with. Yeah maybe that Spamton Neo fight at the end was a bit scary, but Kris is traumatized by the encounter normally anyways. Yeah Berdly is in a coma, but in this timeline Berdly was just some jerk who bullied Kris, he doesn't get any redemption. I can't imagine Kris would care that much if the same outcome happened to Susie back during the first half of chapter 1. As the Snowgrave route continues, Kris is changed as well his role on the stats menu changes and everything, it would make sense why the options Kris would come up with would get more and more unhinged. Yes I'm aware Noelle mentions how Kris's voice sounds different as the route continues, but I don't think that's because it's the soul speaking directly, simply Kris himself is also being affected by the player's influence. Note that in the same vain Ralsei tries to send the soul off so him can speak to Kris directly, the lack of Ralsei during Noelle's section is likely why this is the first time we're capable of making such a huge change in the world and over a full weird route playthrough of Deltarune the soul will corrupt Kris more and more whenever not under Ralsei's guidance to get more of what it wants out of Kris.
Great video! :))
Thanks man!!
Next, you should watch Andrew's Deltarune Narrator video, its really good.
Ok so this entire vid is easy to explain. In the game believe it or not we the player are a character. We the player are the red soul whicb is very clearly not kris's since they can remove us. Hence why sometimes the game will use You and not Kris. You is literally You the player. Things seem out of character for kris because its not in character because We make those choices.
Now who are we the player? Well, personally i think its obvious we are the knight. In deltarune there is a theme of good people pretending to be bad. Example susie and lancer meanwhile there is a theme of bad people trying to be good. King and berdly are good examples however i believe we the knight are a bad person trying to be good.
Hence why noelle in snowgrave is afraid of our voice.
Kris doesnt rip out his soul. The heart is the player. There is a reason Kris and the heart can move independently in the ending of chapter one. And the heart can move to other places away from Kriss, even when the heart should still be inside Kris, like the scenes with Sussie and Jevil and Sussie and Noelle.
Well ya, but there's a noticeable difference between it coming out to partake in battle and Kris shoving their hand into their chest to forcibly remove it themself.
@@Fort_MasterYes. The working theory is that it is easier to ceperate in the Dark World.
In the Light World Kris CAN'T make a choice whithout our input.
In the Dark World (Particularly in SnowGrave) Kris gives us mannny outs whit what they want to say in that situation.
You'll notice if you say something to Susie at the end of CH2 ,if Kris doesn't feel like it they answer it in a ,, confused " manner or in a way to convey that's NOT what they want to say.
Here , easy experiment, Boot up CH2 and go to class, then speak to Alphys and say you want to ,,Swich Partners" .
@@zeo4481'switch partners' is not really an option the game even gives you
Alphys does ask Kris if they are sleeping well, since they slept through the whole class, but usually is just the beginning, and you then have the options 'actually my sleep quality increased' or ''lost sleep from being susie's partner"
Saying your sleep quality increased makes Alphys be like 'okay?' And question that maybe you were more tired due to talking with Asriel, before mentioning that's not possible due to the internet being down
Saying you lost sleep has Alphys remark it's strange you said that with no negative tone at all, and admits it exceeds her role as a teacher to help you with that
@@zeo4481 its not even a separation you are just going into battle mode with Kris as your mecha suit
20:50 it is also possible that Kris opens the fountains either as a way to "escape from his problems" into the dream world, or because the only place where the player can die is in the dark world, or because Kris WANTS to do this considering Kris already has a save file by the time you get there.
