  • Are you waiting for the right relationship to come along? Sometimes we fall into the trap of believing that's when our life will begin.

Married or not the goal is the same...glorify God. Nothing else matters guys. A spouse will never fulfill you only God can.

PREACHHHHHH - I'm about to be 30 in August... no boyfriend or husband in sight... AND I am having a blasttttttt. Just got back from 3 weeks in Greece and London!! I run my own company... travel doing my music... I love my life! God has done so much through and in me.. I know my husband will come when He wants him to... In the meantime, it's all about Jesus -- getting to know Him, learning about myself in relation to Him, and preparing my heart for what's to come!

I’m 23. I just graduated college and got a Preschool teaching position. I am also getting in shape for myself. I’m single and everyone around me is getting married or in relationships. I am done waiting and I’m going to live, God will bring me my husband at the right time.

As a single 31 year old gone through a test from God of 6 years now, waiting for the one he has for me it has been a battle of the flesh vs. spirit. It is loving God first before any man.
I was single all my 20s and God already prepared me and changed me for my husband and how I can put others first and serve at a homeless shelter while waiting for his promise. It is still hard some days but I know HE is faithful and I can't wait to be married, but until then I can bless others, praise and honor him for all the blessings coming my way.

"I didn't get married until I was 26." This. I needed to hear that today. I am usually the one worrying about the future regarding a romantic relationship and God's plan for my life in general, but God has been giving me so much peace lately, He has been sending people and creating moments to cheer me up and have hope, your channel and We Are the Brave have been a part of this. Thank you, thank you! God bless you.❤️

Thank you, Emily. I had a friend who seriously thought she needed a boyfriend in order to be truly happy. Unfortunately, that led her down a road of hurt, unfulfillment, and her temporarily getting derailed from her education.
I have been single for almost three years now and have LOVED it. Sure, I think it'd be nice to have a boyfriend and get married one day, but in the mean time, I have gone on three solo cross country trips, made several new friends, got a new job in Utah, experienced living on my own, sang at Masses, directed my church's youth chorus for two years, and just enjoyed this time for myself.

Tbh, I think it's easy to do things. To take classes, to go somewhere etc. What's difficult is trying to avoid thinking about feeling that tangible love, to have children etc

So true!! It doesn't/shouldn't take that much work to start doing activities or things you want to try just because you are not in a relationship. The challenge is our thoughts as well as our environments that promote "being married is everything".

I have been trying to live instead of wait but it has been hard and the truth is that all my financial goals, career goals, etc. can sometimes start to feel like a distraction. you think to yourself, "why am i not good enough for love" or "why is it that i am 26 going on 27 and still no sign of anything"? being strong and going through life by yourself all of the time is not as simple as people are making it out to be. but i will continue to try and just live and not think about this topic too much so i can keep my heart from feeling too heavy!

I find that these sort of talks about not living in the waiting for room for Mr Right is one of the things the church gets wrong about singleness. Most of the Christian single women I know have not been putting their lives on hold. They have been living very full lives from travelling to getting ahead in their careers but have still not met the potential spouse yet. At the end of the day there is still a God given longing that women have for a husband, that has nothing to do with really just a longing for God that the church keeps telling us singles about. As a church we need to have more honest real conversations about the hardship and griefs that can come from prolonged singleness.

This is what I'm talking about. I always hear God talking to me about what he has in store for me. I've heard him talk about marriage and I'm only 16. I'm very watchful when he says this because it's easy to sit around looking forward to the day of marriage. I do not put my joy and satisfaction into what he says about marriage because at the end of the day God IS my satisfaction. I always tell God that rather I get married or not, I'll have all I need in him.

  • @ashleyjob3691

This is soooo important. For so many years I did almost nothing, because I was just waiting for "him" to come along and then I would be able to achieve my dreams. I'm still trying to learn about myself and discover what brings me joy. And honestly I'm glad that I didn't get married when I was younger because being single has given me so much confidence in my ability to do things for myself. So now my focus is more on living my best life, and if someone else comes along to share in that adventure, great.

Amen!! I’ve recently read a book called “7 Myths About Singleness” by Sam Allberry. It’s very good! One of the things he says is that if you think about statistics it’s possible that you will spend more years of your life as a single person than married. Eg if you marry at 25 and your spouse dies when you’re 65 and you don’t remarry and then you die at 90, that’s 50 yrs single and 30 yrs married. Despite how much of a pedestal marriage gets put on, the many of us will spend more years single so it’s best to get good at living in that state. Ps: The hat is AWESOME!

Emily, I watched this despite feeling called to religious life. I thought, “Ya know, I shouldn’t watch this. It doesn’t apply to me right now” because you’re only supposed to discern one vocation at a time. But oh boy was I wrong! Everyone needs to hear this, regardless of their vocation. We can’t sit around and wait. As my vocation director says, the only place you can meet Jesus is the present moment. I’m attending four years of college at the recommendation of my vocation director (and my own hesitance to take the leap into religious life), and I need to think of this part of my life as my life, not a waiting period until my vocation is revealed. Thank you for the beautiful reminder!

Beautiful video Emily! Thank you! As someone a few years older than Emily and single, I actually think it’s easy to say “easy for her to say”, because this can be applied to ANYTHING in life (not just marriage). A man, a job, another child or a difficult season of life. No matter where we’re at, we all need to LIVE in our own way, the best we can!

This is pure providence. I am going through not the easiest time regarding my love life right now, and as always God is guiding me and showing me what He wants me to know. One of the tools He used was this video. Praise the Lord. God will not always tell you what you want to hear, because He loves you so much and He knows that what you want is not always the best for you.
Please, if you’ve watched Emily’s video, read as well Luke: 12 (I recommend the NIV version).
God cares for you and He will provide what’s best for you if you leave it all in His hands.
    Amen, Hallelujah.

Very well said! I feel like many people put their lives on hold in hopes that they will meet someone, rather than being proactive. Sometimes being proactive and enjoying a life full of joy and adventure can be just what you're supposed to be doing. Woo knows? Maybe you've missed an opportunity to meet the one that God has in store for you by sitting around being complacent. I had no life for a handful of years and decided to get back into mountaineering and it sure kept my mind off of pining for a relationship. Backpacking also gave my life more meaning!

I was once told that my life could end tomorrow if that was God's will for me (which we don't know for certain) and that it'd be perfectly and totally ok, that means I'm complete as a human, as a person, just as I am, not because of what I have or what I've accomplished but because of Him who loves me and gives me my dignity and worth. That changed my perspective on things tremendously, I still struggle with "waiting" and I sometimes find myself doing that instead of living to the fullest of my potential and taking full advantage of the time I'm given, but I remind myself of this I learned once and the Lord, in His faithfulness does that as well, like through videos like this one.

Great video! I know too many women who are downright depressed and serial dating in a desperate attempt to find a partner because they feel like their life is somehow incomplete if they're single and over 30 which is complete nonsense. Even God says that both singleness and marriage are equally good. In addition, there so many things that you can do when you are single that are more difficult to do after you are married and have small children and your time is no longer yours alone.

I agree. I thought, @ 30 sonething, that if I was married and had a child my life would be full. I ignored things I was doing for me before I got married because I assumed marriage and children would fulfill me. As a divorced woman, I now see that my life isn't about my husband and child. Yes, I enjoyed being married and if that is Heavenly Father's plan for me wonderful. But I see that feeding me helps and I work hard at living my life while I wait for that spouse from God. I also see that I will be more ready for the quality relationship with a Godly man that I desire.

That hat looks so chic on you! (: I'm traveling next Monday on a road trip to Oklahoma! My friend lives over there and can't wait to see her.
This message is beautifully said. It's easy to catch up on worrying about our future and the phrase of "getting behind" at a certain age. But I try not to give into that because the future is unknown and only our Lord knows it. May everyone blissfully live each day as our last, just as Emily stated. So motivating and full of God's love. I certainly see it. Thank you and God bless always!! (:
