Superman is a superhero character who first appeared in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character was created by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster, and first appeared in the comic book Action Comics #1 (cover-dated June 1938 and published April 18, 1938).[1] Superman has been adapted to a number of other media which includes radio serials, novels, movies, television shows and theatre.

I think he’s the best Superman we’ve had in a long time, because he plays Clark Kent Quite well. And that’s really the thing you need to nail with Superman is Clark Kent.

The Kingdom Come suit Brandon Routh wore during Crisis is straight up on of the greatest live action superhero suits EVER. It’s even more impressive that the CW made it.

@@mattbunky no actually a movie studio, named "Ironhead Studios" if I remember correctly, made that suit. The people who made the Titans suit made suits for Stargirl and Superman & Lois I think.
@@Dhruv-qw7jf Ironhead Studios really made one of the best Superhero suits ever in Live Action. They did the BVS Batman suit, the WW suit, the Civil War Black Panter suit, they have helped with a couple of Spidey suits, they also developed helmets
Honestly, I think the modern day Superman and Lois suit might be my favorite.
I, myself, prefer the suit he wore at the beginning montage of the first episode.

@@GiraffeGuy631 That's fair. I can understand why some might find it off putting. But I just find the overall simplicity of the design to be a breath of fresh air, as I feel a lot of the big budget Hollywood movies are trying too hard to try and modernize Supes' costume.

I really do enjoy it, I feel it's really accurate and has a cool modern feel, while still maintaining essential elements to superman. I really like it, although it's my second favorite as I really love the Snyder cut one, I love having a black suit

Pretty sure Zack Snyder said the Man of Steel suit had absolutely no muscle padding in it. He wanted to show off Cavil's hard work by making the suit as thin as possible so Henry's physique would show through. I could be wrong but I thought I read it somewhere.
I read that the muscle suit was what made the suit so glossy. It was a shiny padding underneath
@@immersivecomics1603 it wasn't padding, it was actual crome metal. Imagine putting metal plates on the padding, to get shiny abs and shoulders on the suit. Those fake muscles always remind me of Joel Schumacher batmen suits, absolutely atrocious.
And nope, you can see the behind the scenes featurette. The suit is padded, it always has musculature whether or not a person is wearing it. But the padding the relatively less compared to BvS and JL suits.
There's a little bit, especially on the thigh part.
When I saw you place the current Superman & Lois suit lower, I was confused but curious as to what you're number one would be. But seeing as you had place the Fleischer suit, I wholeheartedly agree. I remember as a kid watching the older cartoons in my grandma's house. So seeing that suit brought into live action was amazing

Also I think if DC makes a new Superman movie they should take the Fleischer suit from Superman & Lois but just modify the chest emblem and make the belt black with a gold or bronze buckle

It's not off-centred. The muscle padding isn't symmetrical.
Honestly the Superman and Lois suit is the best it's like the character was ripped straights off of the comics. A close second would be the Superman Returns suit, I just really don't like the underpants at all and every time I see it it's just corny but everything else on the suit is great. If it weren't for the underpants Superman Returns suit would be first.
My ideal suit is just the new CW suit with less padding it's modern bit classic at the same time I know channel pup likes classic spandex looks but I've always just preferred classic inspired looks with modern materials like the mcu spiderman suits or honestly most of the mcu suits

But Dean Cain's suit wasn't black, it had all the classic colours. How did it not count? And George Reeves' suit was in colour for the second half of the show.
I have to disagree with your thoughts on the BVS suit. For one I think the colours are better as they are more vibrant, yet still dark, the symbol on the chest is a more appropriate size as is not too big or too small. And the trade from the oval shaped buckle to the rectangular buckle just works better for me. To me I consider it to be my personal favourite on screen super man suit.

I think that the MoS suit was a perfect modernisation except for the faded red used for the chest symbol and cape colour. I think that there'd could have been little brighter. but otherwise it is perfect
I feel you about the Fleischer suit. Dean Cain is my #1 suit. It's fabric, it's tight, it looks good on cam. Then probably Reeve, Fleischer, Kingdom Come Routh, MoS, Hoechlin S&L, BvS, Routh SR, JL, Hoechlin Supergirl.
My personal favorites are the crisis suit and the new cw suit though there has to be less padding on the shoulders looks unnatural

My favorite live action Superman suit is an obscure one. It is the suit Dean Cain wore in the pilot of Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. Just the pilot. In pretty much all subsequent episodes, it was a different suit, and it looked kind of bad. But in the pilot, there is a montage of Martha Kent making costumes for Clark. The one they finally decided on is my favorite suit. The blue is darker than the pale blue of Christopher Reeve's suit, but the red is still bright. The symbol is the right size and height on his chest. The trucks look less like underwear.

Good news is that coming tuesday this suit is returning. It is flashback episode. (that's not a spoiler because it is not related to any plot thread)
I just honestly LOVE seeing different adaptations of Superman’s suit. Because there’s some good within each suit. Although the MoS suit is my favorite, and I take most inspiration from that suit in my own Superman design, I still take inspiration from the other suits, especially Christopher Reeves’ suit with the trunks and yellow \S/ on the cape. I honestly do agree with this list and honestly I feel the same way with this list. Also, Superman and Lois is just… so good, it’s so good and so perfect, it feels so different from any other CW show and I love it! Can’t wait for the next episode

What’s wrong with the Dean Cain suit? I like the live-action Fleischer suit the best. The TH Superman even quoted the Dean Cain Superman with the “My mom made it for me” line from the first Lois and Clark episode.
One of Yvonne Blake’s designs for the Christopher Reeve suit was to have the S shield on the heel of the boots and on the belt buckle itself

My favorite is easily the Kingdom Come suit. Which was also the most popular in the poll I did in a big group.
The Justice League and Man of Steel suits are my least favourite. JL went too far with the fake muscles, and the MoS suit is far too muted.

What I don't like about the Cavill suits is the belt area. It is atrocious and doesn't break the blue at all. If it had a bell like Hoechlin's it would be pretty good, just make it a bit brighter.

If they tweak( adjust the padding, adjust the neckline, remove the shading around muscles) the current superman and Lois suit, it'll be the best live action suit. The Fleischer suit is my current favorite, cuz it looks so old timey and cheesy, yet iconic in its own innocent way. I always hated the cavill suits, the fake abs remind me of Joel Schumacher batmen suits. And Chris Reeves will always look like the definitive Superman, so he'll always be the winner.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks that about Brandon Rouths crisis suit. I couldn’t figure out what was off about it for the longest time until I compared it to him in 2005
I did not like the Man of Steel suit. In fact, just the DCEU Superman costumes don’t work for me. Even the logo in the DCEU, I dunno, I just don’t like it. My favorites have gotta be the modern-day Superman and Lois suit and the Kingdom Come suit. And this is gonna be controversial, particularly under a channel pup video cuz you love Henry Cavill’s Superman, but honestly I feel much more like I’m watching Superman when I’m watching either Brandon Routh or Tyler Heoclin and feeling like that really helps sell me on the suit they’re in as well.

I actually really like the metallic muscle suit for Henry's Superman. Obviously it looks like trash in JL, but the BvS suit is perfect. It really ties into him being the "Man of Steel"

I think the only suit I don't really agree with you on, entirely at least, is the Superman Returns suit. I like that it looks like a normal suit that a dude could wear without the really obvious muscles, and it contours "respectfully" vs when you can tell there are pieces in other suits, if that makes any sense. The colours and belt/briefs, I mostly agree with, though.
The Kingdom Come suit with the classic logo would be perfect
i really liked the justice league suit, but like a really specific version that's on a few of the posters, it's the look against the black background that i think really works and just looks great, the colours especially work against the back background, it's just the right mix of modern day update while still staying true to the original comic and being a nice homage to the chris reeves superman suit, it's just got the best of everything

For me, that Kingdom Come suit is the best live Superman suit. It's right out of the comics like the 78/80 suit was, but I don't like that era.
I think superman should look goofy, because, to me, it brings more hope. If this man wearing a brightly colored punchline can defeat gods, I have the power to go to work today.
Also, a lot of the trunk-less superman suits do not do a good enough job of breaking up the blue (I think the Man of Steel" suit is the closest), so I will always prefer the trunks, until I'm given another option.

I couldn't agree more with #1. Personally I think all the CW suits are phenomenal, yes even THAT one, but I can at least agree with the #1 pick being the BEST Superman suit
I really like most of the Arrowverse suits as well. I don't know something about them comes off as it's ripped right out of the comics. My problem with things like the MCU costumes it's just they are not always in costume. It seems like they are more focused on showing the actors faces instead of having the moment where they are all in comic book costumes. Most of the interactions they take off their mask which annoys the crap out of me but in the Arrowverse all of the character interactions feel like comic book characters coming together and it's awesome. The suits are not too modernized but it's not too fake looking. Sure some of them are not great but Arrow, Flash and Superman's suits always hit the mark in my opinion.
@@CometStar100 Yeah I have that issue with MCU Spider-Man. Peter Parker is supposed to be fiercely defensive of his secret identity, to the point that in the comics the Avengers wouldn't let him join because he wouldn't even tell them who he is. But in the MCU it feels like he always has his mask off and he's telling everyone his real name. Like that scene with Dr. Strange in Infinity War. Yeah, it was funny, but completely out of character. Luckily it looks like the goal of phase 4 costumes is comic accuracy
@@zachclawges6932 Yeah it's annoying with how much Peter is willing to share his identity. Also when they have the final battle in Endgame Peter kept on taking off his mask and it was really annoying. It's like I want to see these heroes in their suits and every time we see a character speak they took their masks off for no reason and it killed the vibe. Don't get me wrong I still love that scene but man it sometimes feels like they are more focused on showing the actors then focusing on the scene where comic book characters are meeting for the first time. The thing about the Arrowverse is all of their team up scenes they always have the mask on and it's like I'm seeing the character and not the actor. Yeah it seems like the costumes will be better in phase 4. I just hope they show the costumes more than the other Marvel movies.

Have you seen how strong Tyler's naked torso is? I don't believe it. I'm telling you, it's not necessary to give him fake muscles, just give him spnadex attached to the body, a collar at the level of the clavicle, a cape gathered at the deltoids and with a good long and prominent fall, and a symbol the size of his pecs, and his training will do the rest.
The Christopher Reeve Superman suit is the best live action Superman suit.
I believe Tylers suit that he wore on Supergirl was designed to only be worn for a few days and not multiple seasons.
For me, the modern Superman and Lois suit isn't perfect, mainly because of the shoulder and chest parts of the muscle suit that making him look a bit disproportional, but I feel a really good feeling when looking at it.

the best SUPERMAN suite Ive ever seen to date is...the MAN OF STEEL costume (I don't know if it was changed any in subsequent films or not) he is after all an Alien & so the costume should have that...over worldly metallic look to it & UNDERSTANDING this it did, the chainmail look worked symbolically as well (I didnt like the...Angel type references in the hip waste areas though) they wisely understood that he needed to be a more believable shade of blue as well, unlike in the original 1978 film & so he was.
plus they dropped the lifeguard 50s trunks belt/pants look to.
Superman returns suit is Good
I love the yellow. here's my philosophy on why the black only works on kingdom come. black is associated with darkness or the absence of light. light is a way or form of hope. the black represents a dark void/ absence of hope. therefore with hope not having a colour you use the colour of earths source of light and superman's source of power, earths yellow sun. I like a slightly desaturated yellow just to contrast the bright blue and red. kindom come was black to show the absence of hope or light in superman after the daily planet attack. explained by brandon routh also in crisis on infinite earths aswell. so I do love the black but to me it doesn't really fit superman or the overall suit pallet either.
also his favourite spider-man is ditko, his favourite ironman is mark 5. his favourite superman is fleicher. so literally he likes classic costumes but you change the secondary colour.

18:MoS Black suit (it’s just the Man of Steel suit in black, not very appealing in this case for me unlike other black suits)
17:CW V1 suit (I really like how the emblem looks but yeah, some things don’t come together for this that well)
16:Justice League (2017) suit (I like how the colors look on this suit, but the main thing holding it back is the fake muscles, what is it with DC even after the 90’s and just seeming to be obsessed with fake muscles on their live action suits, I mean I guess I somewhat get it with Superman (even if Cavill doesn’t need it) and Batman, but why in the heck did Flash have that?)
15:MoS suit (the opposite case of the last suit, I prefer the colors on the JL suit (seriously the yellow on this looks like it’s verging on grey), but the fake muscles actually look somewhat believable)
14:ZSJL Black suit (I think it’s the silver that does it for me with this one unlike the MoS one, I would prefer Superman looking more classic alongside the League for the first time (hallelujah, something I’m somewhat grateful to the 2017 version for, never thought I’d say that), but whatever, cool suit)
13:S&L S3 suit (ok, my opinion might change on this when I finally stop stupidly procrastinating on seeing this season (and Season 2), but this does feel like a bit of a downgrade from the previous two suits on the show but I’m not entirely sure why honestly)
12:Dean Cain suit (I mean, it’s classic Superman, just that the blue looks shiny or something, I like it since I like classic Superman, but if I wanted to see that I’d look to two other versions, and speaking of which…)
11:George Reeves’ suit (once again, classic/Golden Age Superman, not much wrong with it I just prefer other suits here)
10:Superman Returns suit (I do very much prefer what it tried to modernize, but I still really like this suit)
9:CW Black suit (definitely my favorite live action black suit for Superman we’ve had so far, it feels like this suit was made for the black and silver more than the blue, red, and yellow somehow, plus I prefer the boots on this one)
8:BVS suit (I would’ve like brighter colors, especially with how dark this movie looked and it really started the weird fake muscles thing with DCEU Superman but I still prefer how this turned out over his first suit)
7:DCEU Black Adam suit (fixed my one big issue with the MoS suit, the colors are actually bright now, and in the process, the yellow doesn’t look like it’s almost grey now, would’ve absolutely loved to see more of this, but…well yeah)
6:S&L S1 suit (they did kinda go overboard on the chest area but I don’t really mind much mostly because this seems to mainly take inspiration from the Rebirth suit (the second one, not the one with the blue boots (though I honestly really like that suit)) which is one of my favorite Superman suits so I loved this one)
5:S&L S2 suit (improved the chest area and gave it more classic boots, definitely an improvement)
4:S&L Fleischer suit (I would’ve loved to see Hoechlin wear this for the entire show, it’s looks so dang good)
3:CW Kingdom Come suit (if it’s not a perfect recreation of the suit from the comics, it’s dang near there)
2:DCEU Shazam suit (yeah I’m including this, why not, I wanted to talk about it, get off my back. I seriously wish we could’ve seen Cavill wear this, it’s still got the fake muscle problem, but aside from that I love how the colors looks and I really like the red on the belt, weird that my favorite DCEU Superman suit is from a very quick headless cameo, but well here we are)
1:Christopher Reeve’s suit (absolute perfection, pure classic Superman and I could not ask anything else from it, especially not when it’s perfectly worn by Christopher Reeve, it’s up there with the Flash’s Season 8-9 suit and Spider-Man’s Advanced suit 2.0 for my favorite superhero suits of all time, this is what I think of when I think Superman)
If I’m being honest, this is my top 3 list
1. Henry Cavil (in the man of steel)
2. Brandon Routh

I'm afraid that you missed two live action suits. Unfortunately I cannot remember the name of the actor wore this but it was the classic black and white first live action suit that was also featured on I Love Lucy. The second suit was actually from the avengers of Lois and Clark New adventures of Superman. Not going to count the Smallville suits because they're not the classic Superman outfits. May want to actually update this list just because they also featured the Superman live suit that was featured in The flash movie.
Note: I don't know if or when they're going to do the black and silver Solor suit in the future but I'm still waiting for a classic Doomsday to appear. I know one was featured in Smallville, the movie one don't really care for, and the newest one was pretty good, haven't seen krypton's doomsday yet except for some clips.
I had an idea if they were going to make a new Superman and they're going to, for the suit. The suit would actually react to Superman's charged level from the solar energy and his emotional state of mind. Certain colors would be more vibrant than others if he emotions or state of mind is altered. Do you think it's a good idea?

Why aren’t Kirk Alyn, George Reeves, James Haymes Newton, Gerard Christopher, or Dean Cain brought up at all they all played Superman and had suits that can be judged the only person to play a live action Superman and not have a true suit is Tom Welling. It seems unfair to leaves these suits outs as there are many people who grew up with these suits
