thanks for uploading. i love films from the 30s and 40s. everything about the culture of those times was classy. people spoke and dressed so elegantly.
This popped up on my UA-cam feed and it was delightful. Love these 30s comedies! Fast paced witty dialogue, and getting comfortable means she gets into a night gown and he changes from one coat and tie into another!
I love this movie so much, I watched and rewatched several times. Great light comedy. One of my favorite movies! Anne Nagel is beautiful with tragic life. I saw her in several other movies.
His daughter wrote a book about his life, and she tells what a marvelous husband to her mother and a superb father to her and her siblings....and so accomplished professional🎉🎉🎉
**** NONspoiler Review*** What a clever script with an outstanding cast. I loved this movie...not only because it was black and white, but because of the time period and just fabulous clothes. It was funny...Not laugh out loud funny, but clever lines said with perfect comedic timing. I chuckled to myself throughout. Perfect lead actress Anne Nagel plays the spoiled, complaining, bossy socialite bride to a Tee. She's obnoxious, but at the same time likable because her requests are so absurd. Oh handsome Henry, played by Warren Hull was such a delight. He is the type of man that you would bring home to mother. He has the patience of a Saint because he put up with Shelia's nonsense. All others were equally cast beautifully. I would recommend this movie 100%. I hesitated at first because I'm drawn to drama, but this just hit the spot on a Saturday evening with a glass of wine. Enjoy. Thank you Timeless Classic.
Cigarette smoking was very common then, surgeon general's warning didn't come along until the 60s. Single beds were the only beds allowed in movies thanks to the Hays code of movie morality that lasted until the 60s.
not me... i was hoping the script would have spoiled brat Sheila fall off the ledge and the people below would continue laughing as "The End" flashed on the screen.
let me check...I think Anne Nagel must have started in the silent movie era...because her voice is a bit sharp sounding. No, I was wrong; she started in movies in 1932.
When Shiela Curtis’( Anne nagel) fiancé doesn’t show up for the wedding, she drafts her lawyer,Henry Tuttle (Warren hill ) to stand in for the missing groom! When he groom( Henry mollison) finally shows up after sleeping off the bachelor party,Shiela intends to get a quick divorce and marry him after the attraction dies down-Henry has been in love 😻 with her for years.he gets fed up with her and spends his honeymoon with his old girlfriend. (Claudia dell ) and some beauties! Shiela gets jealous, realizes Eric and she are not suitable for each other, while it’s Henry she counts on. She wonders if she’s taken Henry for granted for too long! The end was pretty good 👍! Anne nagel and Warren hull were great in this movie 🍿-I don’t understand the criticism over her-well, it was the character they were mad at-not the actress who played her-and I think it was undeserved! The two were in another movie again in 1939-and the subject was marriage-I have to see that one! ☝️
@@dontaylor7315 Thanks. I don't know where I got the idea that Anne Nagel was in "Armored Car Robbery." I will correct the misinformation, And I ended up deleting the commeent,
Yes. They literally did not know it caused any health problems. The tobacco companies bombasted the public with pro-health propaganda for decades, and even hired doctors for their commercials, to tell us how healthy it was to smoke.
nice, no worry about war, or the Great Depression....all to be shattered within a few years. Ho-Hum, at least WE are having a gentle time of it, right?
Warren Hull was gorgeous. I saw this movie a few months ago on another channel. Sheila was a jerk 🤣 funny fun movie though. Warren died in 1974. Age 71
@@janethartwig774 Heart failure can be a result of smoking, of course. Liver cancer usually does not originate in the liver, so without further information it is hard to assign a cause.

@ Timeless Classic Movies DO YOU HAPPEN TO HAVE THE HENRY ALDRICH MOVIE "WHAT A LIFE?" WITH Betty Field? Can't find it anywhere!!!
Claudia Dell brought me to this fun romantic romp with a swell cast. Really enjoyed it from beginning to end. Not a wasted minute. Thank you
thanks for uploading. i love films from the 30s and 40s. everything about the culture of those times was classy. people spoke and dressed so elegantly.
It's all fantasy
I love that genre, too!
In the movies,
Mate, none of this is real. It’s a movie. It’s make believe.

These old movies are just sweet and absorbing. Thanks, a wagon load, to the uploader/s.

Wonderful movie, all three played their respective roles with perfect flavor. Thank you for uploading.
Wonderful movie. I miss those decades.
Their very rough on flowers in this movie🙂. I enjoy old movies very much. Thanks for posting🌺🌺🌺
Yes they are! I noticed that too. I love flowers and they're too rough, haha.
What a living doll!!! Henry that is!!!!
Thanks for posting such wonderful movies as these.
Henry (Warren Hull) is awesome....what a great looking guy... need to learn more about him.
Ginger Haydon Quite a talented man. Four wives, four children.😊

My favorite line was, "I don't think you're perfect. I do think you have possibilities. " ❤

I got this movie on dvd a few months ago.it is fun and fast paced.
That hotel suite is like 3 times the size of my entire house!
Although Sheila is an annoying character, the actress who plays her does a great job! She carries her solo scenes quite well :)
If she annoys you, she is/was a great actress. It's her job to make you annoyed by her.
This was an outstanding 80 year old movie which seems up to date on the social scene now days.
I am still watching this movie. It is so funny and wonderful.
Right off the bat the Monogram Pictures grafic is great!!
Poor Henry, he deserves better.
No he doesn't if that kind of trash is what he likes
pthaloblue100 Hopefully he’ll be able to help her grow up. After all, he was successful in getting her to realize she loved him.
These 30's movies are a delight. They do seem to smoke a lot of cigarettes....lol. Did anyone notice the single beds in the honeymoon suite?

Love this movie I give it 5 stars
the lady's charms utterly escaped me. these depression-era rom-coms of the foibles of the rich are fascinating.
Monogram put out some very good films, surprisingly. Thanks for this. 😊
Awesome movie !! Loved it 💖💖💞
Thank you for uploading these are great.
We're just slobs compared to those days
True
drama drama drama.... but you still love it when they get together in the end... **sigh**

Really like A Bride For Henry
Thanks for th movie :) It was about time for something different. Love the movie :)
Simple plot. Great movie!
"Oh Henry! I didn't know you knew how to fight"
Wonderful. Can't help thinking it's a Carole Lombard-type leading female role. Would have been perfect for her.
And I was thinking Henry was Cary Grant's kind of role - but as it is, Nagel and Hull handle both parts just fine.
I adore Carol Lombard
I love this movie!
Great movie
Wow! Henry’s punch was so fast I missed it! 😆
Another Fantastic TCM movie
sheila's a spoiled uppity brat. henry's too good for her!..still a cool movie!

Henry is cute....
lovely
Hilarious!
Great movie. 😊
Anne Nagel the lead actress had a tragic life from what I heard. Cute ending.
@@StevenTorrey I just looked up Armored Car Robbery and didn't find Anne Nagel in the cast. The leading lady was Adele Jergens.
@@dontaylor7315 Thanks. I don't know where I got the idea that Anne Nagel was in "Armored Car Robbery." I will correct the misinformation, And I ended up deleting the commeent,
N.B. started the line with "Anne Nagel the lead actress"--so blame him/her... But I should have been more attentive,
@@StevenTorrey Anyway thanks for calling my attention to Armored Car Robbery. I like a good film noir and haven't seen it yet
Didn't know homebody was a slang back then.
Nice movie
Singing oh i do lot of things fascinating
The British actor was on a destroyer during WW2 and became a POW when it was sunk by the Germans. Never returned to acting after the war.
Henry's plowing everybody !!
Warren Hull and Anne Nagel appeared together again in a 1941 Universal serial "The Green Hornet Strikes Again"
I say--good show! Killer fight scene. : j
Dear Lord, did everyone smoke?
Yes. They literally did not know it caused any health problems. The tobacco companies bombasted the public with pro-health propaganda for decades, and even hired doctors for their commercials, to tell us how healthy it was to smoke.
Yes. One was sophisticated if he/she smoked.
My parents and grandparents never did but they were in the minority. I remember people smoking in elevators and hospitals.
In the early 90's I was in Texas and they were smoking in Walmart.
Having a cigarette in your hand back in the day, was like having a bottled water in your hand today.
2020 here
Nice to see that the hotel staf accept coins for tip...
A couple of quarters would buy you dinner then.
A dollar in 1937 is worth $21 today. So a quarter is a pretty good tip.
Now Eric could marry Henry and ditch Sheila! Now that's modern!
All dressed up and no one to blow !!
didn't like this movie but loved Warren Hull
nice, no worry about war, or the Great Depression....all to be shattered within a few years. Ho-Hum, at least WE are having a gentle time of it, right?
Out at 20:00.
What the? At 42:03 it sounds like Henry Calls Helen a prick!
Michael Lee no he said brick. It was a term of endearment back in the day.
Love this movie but god that actress is getting on my nerves
I agree, just like carrol Lombard. Would've been perfect for her!
..lol..lol..henry's got a "bruce wayne" limited edition white dinner jacket on....lol..lol..dance with her, henry!..lol..lol..dance!...
I got confused with the other Neagle
💗💗💗💗
Turner the best I think classic of an area of mob job hunting people comedy
Enjoyable
What a piece of .........
He’s the sap…

I noticed Henry giving a quarter coin as a tip. That won't work today.
A quarter would buy a lot of things back then and probably was a great tip!
A dollar in 1937 is worth $21 today. So a quarter tip is a pretty nice tip.

Carole Lombard perfected this type of role. imo...Anne is a poor imitation.
horrible acting, especially the bride. rushing thru all the lines too quickly.
I disagree.
I kept thinking "Hepburn in Philadelphia Story" :)
Didn't care for this movie the leading lady was rude and self-centered.. Thumbs down 👎 on this movie..
That was the lamest movie ever, cant act their way out of a paper bag so why the hell did i enjoy it?
She is a horrible actress.
I assume they all died of lung cancer.
J Prall Don’t forget heart disease. Hull died of heart failure at 71. Nagal died at 50 from liver cancer.
What kind of mind would only remark on that?
@@janethartwig774 Heart failure can be a result of smoking, of course. Liver cancer usually does not originate in the liver, so without further information it is hard to assign a cause.
@@OEllsworth I only commented that Nagal died of liver cancer, not where it originated. Wikipedia isn’t specific.
