Colt and Jason tell the story about how the 385 came to be. We also had Chavez Soliz, Chase Kerby and Alex Fatkin come in and we were able to capture their unfiltered first reactions to the pedal.
    ------
Dynamic, responsive, tube-like, and amp-like. Walrus Audio is extremely excited to announce the new 385 Overdrive that is boastfully responsible for all those adjectives.
For decades now, guitarists in search of pure tone have been taking the tube-powered audio sections of vintage film projectors and using it as a guitar amp. Heads up - it sounds amazing. After endless hours of research on vintage Bell and Howell 385 Filmosound projector, Walrus has created a fantastic new overdrive modeled after the projector’s tone. The Bell and Howell 385 gracefully lends itself to create an amazing guitar amp. Its simple, but effective controls, plus dual 6V6 output section make for a simple and extremely responsive amp that has an amazing compressed overdrive when cranked.

Since I've discovered this pedal I've bought 3 vintage filmosound projector amplifiers. A 285, a 302, and the coveted 385. Converting all 3 to guitar use.

Let me know if you want me to do a comparison video with my 2 Krinard Filmosound amps - in this video we dont even hear the Filmsound amp so would be good to hear how close you got - thanks!

Started playing again during Thee Lockdown so I'm a touch late to the party.
If you're still accepting praise the voicing of this pedal is amazing (and Exactly Not a Tubescreamer, thank heavens...)
Whatever sorcery was involved in getting an 8" alnico speaker caving in on itself while trying to keep up with dimed low wattage 6v6 push-pull drive tube break up INSIDE a pedal enclosure is admirable and just sorcery indeed. Thank you.
    (Which jfets did you pick??)

I literally just discovered this pedal and purchased the last remaining demo pedal at a local shop in Holland Michigan (R.I.T. music). The boys there are great and ripped it off the demo board for me because I fell in love with it. Was looking at a vintage tube screamer, put that one back and then my kung fu grip would not let go of the 385 ... this was THE ONE. My board is now complete (well maybe 🤣)

I use the 385 for bass. Nails the MM The Beautiful People bass tone, and THEN some!

Love it! Does it stack well with a boost or fuzz into it or does it have a lot of "sag" like most tiny amps would? Thank you!
