    I have cabbage and some jars, This sounds like it was planned for a reason. I love things to have no matter what time of the year you open it up. A bit of fresh summer or fall just one pop away.

    Most canning projects I do is Prep a day Can a day! Makes canning go so much smoother!

    Thank you for doing this collaboration - I've got a young daughter who needs to watch the beginner videos. I taught her how to water bath peaches last summer but we have yet to get together to use my pressure canner together.

    I bought pressure canners for my two daughters also and they are both on board. It is a great way to keep grocery costs down while providing healthy food for the families!

    Thanks for all of the great info Jeni!. I really wish the USDA would start testing recipes again. I'm not brave enough to stray from the tried and true recipes.

    Last year I canned pickled red cabbage for the first time. Much as I love Aunt Nellie's I knew I could dupe it and for less money. I usually serve with Kielbasa, fried apples, and sweet cornbread.

    Thanks for doing beginner's canning. It can be scary for some of us. I did water bath some tomatoes. They came out good. It's so satisfying to open up one of those jars and use it for my spaghetti sauce.

    I've tried out a hamburg veg soup that includes cabbage as well as your "egg roll in a bowl" recipe. I like cabbage so this sounds good. I think my children that like pickled beets would like this too.

    I'm kind of an in the middle canner lol. This is perfect I have a slew of cabbage that I need to process. I'm glad this is for water bath because I still have a few weeks to wait before I can get a pressure canner.

    I have tried one red cabbage canning recipe and it was a fail but this one seems like the flavor profile I was wanting. I can't wait to try this! We love having cabbage on the shelf for a quick side dish.

    I love red cabbage, and just learned how to ferment it from the Fermented Homestead. So really want to learn how to can it up. Also, Jeni, you rock as a seamstress!

    While cabbage isn't our thing, all of the tips, tricks, etc can be used regardless of what is being made. This was a very enlightening video for this newbie canner. Thanks so much!

    Totally look forward to this series. Bought my 23qt Presto canner a year ago, and have only completed 1 session of ugly chicken....STILL intimidated....plus Im disabled so dont have the physical stamina for a lot of these bigger projects so I have now purchased the 9.5 QT Carey Electric canner so I can do SMALL batches (to help address the physicality of canning but also the Disability low income budget portion of canning)

      Don’t be intimidated. Just respect it you’ll get the hang of it of it! I bought the ball electric pressure canner I love it no noise and work’s like a charm! Happy Canning!

    Thanks for the collaboration. Great idea to have more beginner friendly info. Also, the idea about the vinegar on the rim is definitely something to consider ( I have had several fails recently).

    Ha ha, where we you when I started back to canning. My first years of canning were taught to me by our Mom's. I went to work for a while in town and quit canning. Then I got back to it a few years ago and found out how outdated my information was. I'm really surprised I didn't make us sick at one point. Great video!

    This is something my husband would enjoy, lots of nutrients in the cabbage, apple and onion. My Grandmother used a big pot when canning, she would put towels on the bottom of the pot to protect the jars. Thank-you for sharing with us.

    I grew so much green and purple cabbage last summer. I was able to can the green cabbage as Cole slaw and the purple cabbage as spicy red cabbage. Both recipes were from the Ball book. I like that your recipe has apple in it. I’m going to have to do that next time. Thank you for this video and collaboration.
