Super skyward towers is a really good tower of hell inspired game with platformer elements and it uses an ai generated thumbnail… that doesn’t make me like ai thumbnails anymore more though because it’s just flat out lazy.
back in my days the models were low poly because the rest of the game was so good, and the creator still tried to model something decent, putting soul into it!

@@SK83RL1GHT it’s hard honestly, allot of people can’t draw and learning on how to draw takes allot more than few months, and making a 3d thumbnail is as equally as hard, as it takes skills in editing, composition, and modelling, which all of this costs quite allot of time, and not just few months, and yet if you try to rush this process of learning, you might end up with a pretty bad thumbnail, which won’t grab allot of attention, and there’s allot of competition, in which forces you to make a good looking thumbnail that catches an eye

Can I be honest? I am obsessed with resort tycoon 2, I literally am addicted. But god I almost cried when they started using Ai. As an artist myself this hit me personally. the AI thumbnails seem even MORE lazy when you realize you can just take a good screenshot of the game, and then put some text or the game logo in a corner and it will still look kinda good
ai thumbs are awful because roblox encourages it. they have AI thumbnails for free. this is why so many Roblox games use them, because its easy and free and gets clicks.

7:13 I actually played this one and I found out that the game does more than just be a tycoon as you can play minigames and races to help kill time spent waiting for your tycoon to generate more money. The races are mediocre at best. They have a leaderboard so they can be some source of fun while waiting for your tycoon to make more money but while the go-kart and air stunt races reward you for finishing with fast enough times, The boat race rewards you with nothing. The minigames however are mostly miss. The only good one is the skydiving one since you have to go through rings on your way down and it actually feels unique. The rest mostly suck because rather than having unique control schemes they all either have you timing your spacebar presses to set aim and power or spam it to set power. Not only is the game's use of AI look lazy in comparison to the 1st resort tycoon which kept the AI to a bare minimum but most of it's minigames are lazy.
my rule of thumb is to avoid games that beg me to do stuff. its usually these AI slop games but obbies also do the same. besides begging me to spend money, i get constant pop-ups to like the game, add it to my favorites, or join their group. even when i click the escape key, the game starts pleading for me not to leave yet. pathetic greedy behavior from "game devs" (im being generous... throwing together an. obby with copy-pasted code and UI isnt exactly game development) trying to keep kids playing until they spend money. im not a big part of the roblox community but it baffles me that these people havent been shamed off the platform yet
In my opinion, AI thumbnails are completely fine if you're a starter developer. How else are you supposed to make thumbnails? What if you're bad at making them, or can't afford to hire an artist? AI provides a tool for people who aren't artistically talented or cannot afford an artist to make thumbnails. Of course there's always the developer that uses AI because they're actually lazy, but this shouldn't always be assumed. An experience may seem low quality, but there's the chance that it was because it was made by a starter dev. Some people also say AI is a tool built on theft, but it's only analyzing the images. There'll most likely be no traces whatsoever in the final product to the images used, because AI doesn't directly copy it. You could say it's "inspired" by the images. The thumbnails AI provides are, of course, better than a horrible drawing in MS Paint, and even better than nothing. So please, stop automatically assuming these developers are lazy. A lot of them aren't.
The thing is, he calls them lazy and ignores rational arguments simply because its important for artists to hate on ai art to keep their jobs or hobby profitable, since, if all artists agreed that ai art is not a theft or not a lazy thing to do, then progress of ai art would had been faster as allot more people would had supported it

alright here's something I discovered: so my friend is a dev of a few games and he made a specific game so while I was scrolling through roblox I found what seems to be the game.. except it isn't the game the author isn't the original author, its made by a different person everything from the profile, the description own to the TITLE got carbon copied trying to join the game.. redirects you to something like "space simulator" with an ai generated thumbnail and its basically your average sorta trashy tycoon I went into the profile of the person who "made" the copycat and turns out he has clones of other games too I dont remember his user and we both reported him anyways

7:13 I actually played this one and I found out that the game does more than just be a tycoon as you can play minigames and races to help kill time spent waiting for your tycoon to generate more money. The races are mediocre at best. They have a leaderboard so they can be some source of fun while waiting for your tycoon to make more money but while the go-kart and air stunt races reward you for finishing with fast enough times, The boat race rewards you with nothing. The minigames however are mostly miss. The only good one is the skydiving one since you have to go through rings on your way down and it actually feels unique. The rest mostly suck because rather than having unique control schemes they all either have you timing your spacebar presses to set aim and power or spam it to set power. Not only is the game's use of AI look lazy in comparison to the 1st resort tycoon which kept the AI to a bare minimum but most of it's minigames are lazy.
It's quite nice since it instantly tells me what games aren't worth playing

my rule of thumb is to avoid games that beg me to do stuff. its usually these AI slop games but obbies also do the same. besides begging me to spend money, i get constant pop-ups to like the game, add it to my favorites, or join their group. even when i click the escape key, the game starts pleading for me not to leave yet. pathetic greedy behavior from "game devs" (im being generous... throwing together an. obby with copy-pasted code and UI isnt exactly game development) trying to keep kids playing until they spend money. im not a big part of the roblox community but it baffles me that these people havent been shamed off the platform yet
In my opinion, AI thumbnails are completely fine if you're a starter developer. How else are you supposed to make thumbnails? What if you're bad at making them, or can't afford to hire an artist? AI provides a tool for people who aren't artistically talented or cannot afford an artist to make thumbnails. Of course there's always the developer that uses AI because they're actually lazy, but this shouldn't always be assumed. An experience may seem low quality, but there's the chance that it was because it was made by a starter dev. Some people also say AI is a tool built on theft, but it's only analyzing the images. There'll most likely be no traces whatsoever in the final product to the images used, because AI doesn't directly copy it. You could say it's "inspired" by the images. The thumbnails AI provides are, of course, better than a horrible drawing in MS Paint, and even better than nothing. So please, stop automatically assuming these developers are lazy. A lot of them aren't.
The thing is, he calls them lazy and ignores rational arguments simply because its important for artists to hate on ai art to keep their jobs or hobby profitable, since, if all artists agreed that ai art is not a theft or not a lazy thing to do, then progress of ai art would had been faster as allot more people would had supported it

I think its pretty important to have a good thumbnail for a game, if the game thumbnail look interesting, people would click on it, and if its just garbage AI, people would probably get disinterested and not click it

We have a literal AI helper in studio now, AI generation for Materials, and now AI generated Game Thumbnails. It's very obvious that roblox is still trying to achieve that "metaverse" status even when they said they left it..
The thing is, metaverse and ai are different things, but I do believe that they won’t be leaving idea of turning Roblox in to metaverse
alright here's something I discovered:
so my friend is a dev of a few games and he made a specific game
so while I was scrolling through roblox I found what seems to be the game.. except it isn't the game
the author isn't the original author, its made by a different person
everything from the profile, the description own to the TITLE got carbon copied
trying to join the game.. redirects you to something like "space simulator" with an ai generated thumbnail and its basically your average sorta trashy tycoon
I went into the profile of the person who "made" the copycat and turns out he has clones of other games too I dont remember his user and we both reported him anyways
i once saw some thomas games with ai thumnails once
