This song fits X incredibly well, the heroism and hope, the hints of sadness for unnecesary violence, and the strength to continue fighting for the good of all.
That's true, but it feels a little too lighthearted. It would fit him better back in X2 or X3 if you ask me.

I like the optimism and hope in X's theme. It fits him really well here.
In stark contrast to Zero’s opening theme, which foreshadows something ominous.
I think this one has a different kind of “something is not quite right”, specially at 0:40

Zero gets an optimistic theme in zero 4. It matches with most of his memories recovered, understands clearly what he's fighting for, and the area of the crash from this game became a new paradise for humans despite the tragic past. I like the contrast between this song and Esperanto

The first part sounds like adventure and experiences , 0:40 Here sounds a bit sad, that tells you that there are many obstacles on the road and stumble, 0:52 But this bit gives you value, you should get up and strive to protect you want and fight for what you want. I love this song :D

X4 and x5 are really beloved games, but it's amazing to see how nostalgia is unique for everyone with the intro stage themes from both games.... Personally i love Zero's intro stage from X4 more than X's, but in X5, X's theme is the superior one for me.

I love this theme I have this theme to mp3 player since 2006 and now I still keep on listening to it.
To me, this intro theme fits X better than any of his other themes, being hopeful, determined and mournful all at once, like how Zero's intro stage theme in this game fits him best.
X4's Zero theme is better in my opinion. Same with X4's X.
But this one is good too. It's just that X4 X has a much bigger umpf.

Not true, friend. Zero is older than X. Zero was being built around Megaman and Bass' time. Zero was created with the same material Bass was created with. He was made to destroy Megaman, but didn't wake up until later.

This and Ridge Racer Type 4 were the best pickups my uncle bought from GameXrazy back in 01 - 02 . Made me garner interest in PS1 library as I was still into Nintendo & PC Gaming. Ah how I would go back and be 4 .
Of all the themes in all the X games (and they are numerous and awesome)... this... this is Theme of Megaman X to me.

Uma das melhores músicas da franquia. Esse som combina heroísmo, determinação e esperança mesmo diante de uma grave crise.
Gosto bastante das intros do X e Zero do X5, é diferente do resto da franquia...Não são músicas tão animadas quanto as dos jogos anteriores como X2,X3 e X4, principalmente a do Zero...É mais suave,"madura" e até meio melancólica, combinando perfeitamente com o enredo desse capítulo da franquia q deveria ter fechado a série X

Dude, the original series is supposed to be lighthearted.
I always imagined that Light finally confronted Wily himself and convinced him to give up his evil ways. At the last moment before unleashing the then finished Zero on the world, Wily sealed Zero deep underground, only to be awakened years later to infect Sigma.
Light forgave him, and Wily vowed to uphold what he stood for even after his death. Or alternately, they spent their last years together as tinkering, doddering old men.
This is the best intro theme out of the entire franchise.

@Johnrobot5623 That's a good question, and I personally think that because of the 20xx to 21xx time gap, the X series could take place only a few years after the Megaman series. It would explain why Dr. Light seems sentient whenever he talks to X and doesn't seem like a completely taped-over voice. It also explains why he scatters capsules based on places X needs to go to. Megaman could've been upgraded to X after all. As for everyone else, who cares-it's an excuse to say Wily's still alive!

actually, he was made some time after Power Fighters. in Power fighters, he showed Bass Zero's blueprints. during PF's ending, Light also began conceptualizing the idea of a robot that worries. eg: the suffering circuit.

@cameltoejoe69 from what i read in the art book..x was supposed to mean limitless power..and zero's name's meaning was supposed to nullify x's power..so they were evenly matched once x caught up. I believe however, that zero was around first since he was almost like an older brother in x1 to x..saying he might became as powerful..and x was doubting his abilities..

X's theme is more happy and innocent, while zero's theme is More serious. That's why Mega Man X5 is my favorite Mega Man x on ps1.
technically, zero would be a variant Megaman design if the Original and X timelines are indeed connected. A robot twice removed from the original megaman(with Bass as the first deriviation)
@GravianS Yeah.. but Wily is still alive in Megaman X2 as Serges, in X5 he spoke with sigma, and in X6 he is Isoc. It's apparent because Serges leads the team of mavericks who are trying to recover Zero's parts, turning him maverick if you fail to defeat them all (Serges also gets Wily's music theme), in X5 it's part of the dialogue, and in X6, Isoc is able to shut Zero off with a touch, implying that he knows Zero inside and out. Wily keeps himself alive through the whole series.

It is entirely speculative whether or not Serges is a reincarnation of Wily, so that can't exactly be proved.
X5 is canon. However, Dr Light's capsule recordings ALSO know about X's whereabouts, and we KNOW Light is dead. Sigma may have learned from an old data record of Wily's, rather than Wily himself.
In X6, implying that Isoc knows the workings of Zero doesn't mean that he is Wily. Serges knew Zero as well, but we can't prove that he is Wily, despite the resemblance.
