- This concealment mirror / picture frame would be great for your woodworking business or as decor in your own home! The new channel! / @pale-horse-outdoors
In this video, I will guide you step by step on making this awesome concealment decor as well as how to install the RFID lock.
So on this channel, I teach that in order to create a successful product to sell you need to take something that's "hot" or in every home and shake it up. That's what gave me the idea for this build... Everyone has mirrors or picture frames... and everyone loves hidden compartments. So why not make one that's so slim that no one would ever dream that it could be concealing anything!

Clever as usual...at the 27:30 mark there is a wooden ladder in the background...do you have a video for it please?
I love that miter guid
Matt, I did something similar to this but I used pegboard instead. There is NO way on earth that anyone would ever expect it to be hiding a safe. Good build!!!! 😊
This entire mirror can be built using 1 fence picket. Waiting for the T-Shirt
Lol
“This entire shirt/hoodie/coffee mug/holster could have been made with just one fence picket”
Found your channel by accident 8 months ago and haven't missed a video since. Wishing you continued success! Loving your new channel.
Thanks so much! I love what I do!
Great video hope see more on different concealmeant projects
Some very nice looking kimbers right there
Thanks!
Came across your videos by total accident. I had built an arbor for my wedding a few years back. When I put it up for sale on FB Marketplace I had a huge response. So, I built and and sold probably around 20-30 more of them. Then Covid happened and no weddings, so I stopped. Last year I flipped a dresser but it took so long to sell, I quickly lost interest in furniture flipping. Watching your videos has given me new inspiration to give this another go as a side hustle. I especially like the "smalls that sell" videos. Also sounds like we are fellow Kentuckians. I'm a transplant from Cincinnati area while my wife is from Clay County...we compromised by moving to the. Florence area. Ok, now that you know my life story....🤣
Bro. You just gave me a late Christmas gift with the Pale Horse Outdoors channel. I run a woodworking/taxidermy business so what does that tell you? One of my favorite woodworking channels combined with outdoors?! Sign me up all day 🙏🏼
That is awesome! Welcome!
That's an awesome build! And those are nice pistols. 😍
Thank you!
Definitely going to build one of these... Thank you for this!
Hope you enjoy it!
Very cool build love your videos!
That looks amazing.
I have one of those rfid concealment shelves for my firearms. It made me love this type of stuff.
WELCOME BACK! Because of your site I have started collecting idea’s. Come. On spring.. TY ☮️
Wonderful!
Why wait for spring?
I have to work outside ☮️
Ive been waiting on this video ever since i started watching your channel. Ive been woodworking all my life thanks to my dad, and i had no idea stainable wood filler is a thing lol thanks for that too
Right handed glove bandit hits my glove drawer as well
Lol Where do they go?!?!?
This is a great project. I'll be using a magnetic latch instead of RFID so I don't need to worry about batteries going dead (and it will be cheaper).
I just physically squealed with excitement. ❤
thanks Matthew! now i will have custom picture frames all over my house
I love the concealment stuff. I want to make the long gun coat rack at some point.
Wow dude nice! So cool, can't wait to build these! Great explanation as well!
Thanks! Enjoy.
*Real nice project, and your tips show that you're a caring teacher.* 👍⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thanks! And I do love to teach and see others succeed!
Really cool idea. Thanks 😊
I think the profile looks nice for a picture frame. You mentioned prototyping - critical step with any hardware - but the one that’s bit me is when repurpose something like the mirror (or baskets). Buy them and prepare them all before I begin to head off hidden variation and availability (maybe buy 2 mirrors to ensure I have one). Thanks for the ideas!
Nice work.
Thanks!
Would have loved to have seen the mounting of the foam... great build none the less!
I do a full video just on customizing the foam on the new channel. It's an outdoors channel so I can show more. ua-cam.com/channels/FVByOisviL-HiZA04Kf8Mg.html
Oh BTW!! I subscribed to your new channel also!
You're awesome! Ty
Awesome video.
I love the juggling right after we talk about it lol
lol
I'm with you, all my life I have loved anything with a hidden compartment (or secret rooms/passageways) I'm really hoping to see you make a headboard with shelves and a hidden compartment. I'm going to make either this or the coat rack for my son and DIL. Have to ask the little lady 😅 jk. It's more which would fit in with their decor. When I get it done I will post pictures. Thanks for the great videos.
You need to use a closed cell foam or the foam will retain moisture and lead to rust.
Dope AF results @MatthewPeechWoodworking!
Haha! I also have a pile of left hand gloves. I always take the right off for added dexterity or to use my phone when working and I inevitably lose them
Nice project. Go 2A! JimE
Thanks 👍
Pretty cool
Looks good. I have a full length mirror I'm planning on making a built in concealment mirror. The lock would make a nice touch.
Pretty cool idea. 🦾🦾🦾
Love the design. Practical in both ways. A small cargo net or two may be an option, if not using it for pew pews.
What a great idea I’ve seen the shelves before but not a mirror. I’m definitely going to give this a try and also your new channel Congrats on that 🍾🍾🍻 Thanks for sharing
Good Morning, Thank you
Mornin'. No worries!
Mathew peach sir this is a dope build I got to build great work sir
Great videos enjoy watching thanks
Thanks!
*Nice Build I’ll have to give it a Try!!!*
Thanks!
LOL the infamous 10MM. Awesome.
Great idea! I just subscribed.
I’m making this out of some red oak I had. I don’t have a braider so just a quick tip that helped me with glue up. When you get to the first glue ups, 5:50 on the video, A&B I put the slivers that were cut out when you cut part A at 14 degrees back in place to help the clamps hold while the glue dries.
Another Great Project Video Brother.
I appreciate it!
Regarding your glove issue, you better call Ghostbusters! I think the ghost of Michael Jackson is haunting your shop 😂. Keep up the great work brother!
Lol thanks!
I have the same problem. I am right handed, and wear out the thumb and index finger on all my right hand gloves. That is how I get a pile of good lefty's, and no righties!
you could run electrical behind the wall, for those who hate replacing batteries.. and make it a permanently wired lock. you have inspired me to make a gun concealment/medicine bathroom mirror cabinet
Good Stuff
That's where all my left hand gloves went... I'm in the same boat but I have all rights.
0:39 that intro with the moving reflection and then the concealed shop most coveted item! Lmao😂
Hey Matthew you obviously did a great job on this one Walmart is completely sold out of mirrors even on line!!! LOL
This gonna be my next project. I saw a concealment picture frame that used soft close drawer slides and it the frame would slide to left or right to open. I would like to see your take on a design like that. Thanks for the video
Sounds great!
Literally couldn't find a right handed glove yesterday
When I close my eyes . . . I hear Billy Bob Thorton teaching me how to build a concealment mirror.
Subbed!
I have been struck by the right handed glove bandit as well.
0:55 set up for a Haaaaay! 🤣 keep teaching
I am getting ready to remodel a few rooms in my house, and was thinking, with a few tweaks, the main body of the concealment portion could be sunk between the studs, leaving more room for whatever goodies will be placed inside.
Great option, I’ve looked at doing a larger mirror for longer options but I struggle with cutting 45’s to line up correctly on picture frames etc, any good tips been a big frustration for me!
Also subscribed to new channel, want to start building more concealment furniture as too many other woodworkers in my area doing other little projects to make it worth while to compete
The glove thing. As far back as I can remember it has been that way for me.
Holy crap, This product was designed by James Bond. The James Bond mirror, brilliant.
I have the exact same glove issue.... I only ever find left hand gloves 😂😂😊
I can't figure it out... it's one of my life's mysteries. Dealt with it my whole life. No clue.
Awesome video, as always, and great editing. Two Peech's in one shot is pretty danged cool.
Also, what is that soundwave above the mirror at the beginning of the video?
Lol thanks! Its a song- I made it on the laser for my wife for our anniversary.
That's where all my left-handed gloves went😢 😂 ❤
Bahaha.. I'll send them to ya! We can trade.
Rumor has it that Matthew Peech can build any modern Tesla EV out of 3 x cedar fence pickets and a few pocket holes.
Bahaha... 😐. That a challenge?
@@MatthewPeechWoodworking I would not doubt you by this point!
The glove bandit is real - I have the same issue!
😢😂😢😂 i just replaced ANOTHER 10mm socket! But thanks for the concealment mirror info! Also appreciate your complete, clear lists and instructions👍
I actually lost that one while recording the intro 😂
@@MatthewPeechWoodworking 🤣🤣
Im missing a bunch of left-handed gloves. It's your dominant hand that you tend to lose, taking it off to write, answer the phone, or any dexterity needed that the glove doesn't provide. Great build!
I’m glad I’m not the only one… your explanation makes perfect sense.
@@MatthewPeechWoodworkingI enjoy the same surplus of left handed gloves. But … it’s because I’m right handed and I wear out the finger tips. Can’t toss the left glove since I might someday need to replace a left. Not so far.
hahaha same here usually i go thrue the right handed ones faster than the left handed ones too :P
Another awesome video, thanks. Do you need to use the struts, cant you just pull it open easily?
Liked and subbed❤
Love these projects, If I’m correct this is your third concealment build.
6th actually.
@@MatthewPeechWoodworking now I have to go back and look for them, I’ve seen the shelf, side table and this one. 👍🏻👍🏻
You've got to call that your Kimber 3822 mirror!!! Blessings!!!
lol, I like it.
Very nice! I think I'd prefer the slower opening gasket rods. With my luck, it would fly open and hit me in the head 😆
👏👏👏💯💯💯 the redundancy is on point. Now we need a tech nerd to go full Juan Wick, Siri I need guns 😂😂😂
Add a easy grip hole by the magazine and handle of the gun.
Mark me down as subscriber 975 over at Pale Horse!
I really need to make this concealment mirror asap, for reasons.
Any reason is a good reason. Thanks!
Hi Matthew, Great build and tutorial. hey, I noticed that both of the RFID kits on Amazon are not available presently, Do they often run out? Are there other kits that you could suggest that work just as well? With regards to the ply to protect the mirror and make it a more secure area, Would it have been possible to use a thicker mirror door frame so that it would accommodate two pieces of ply instead of using the small strips as per the video? Thank you
Can you do a video on how you built your miter saw dust collection shroud
Great job Matthew ,, I watch almost all of your videos and love them ,, I just wanted to ask if these shocks are adjustable for the speed that they open
The shock itself isnt. You wold just go down in N value. These were 50N. But you have to have enough force to overcome the resistance of the hinges.
Another place to look for mirrors is as
Salvation Army or Goodwill
Hey Matt. Is there a router bit you'd suggest for doing the profile cut instead of using the table saw?
It was me. I stole all your gloves! (Really I only have my right hand)
On the glove thing, being right handed you wear out that glove faster. Being men, we won't throw away something that is still usable. So we pitch the worn out right glove, grab a new one and continue using the same left glove.
Depending on your hand dominance this could be a 10 to 1 ratio.😂
Could buy the mirror, modify the mirror, or buy a picture frame with those swivel pieces on the back, add a mirror to the picture frame, and modify the picture frame. Tons of old prints sold at 2nd hand stores.
Denatured alcohol also releases hot glue.
This is good to know. I tried using a heat gun on one of those mirrors, but the glass is pretty thin, so it cracked almost immediately.
Thanks for the tip!
I vould see using this by the door to hold car keys. Could you line it to create a Faraday Cage to revent thieves from accessing your car key codes?
Yep! And that's a really good idea.
I have a piece of oak that 1.25” x 11.5” x 60”. Am I missing something or can’t I use this by cutting it lengthwise in half? It doesn’t have to be 1.5” thick right?
Lmao the missing right hand glove, a recurring issue, and always a mystery!
Glove disappearances in my shop seem to have a direct correlation with my missing socks.
I know right... But how... why?
I have a question as a beginner. How thick should a board be to make cutting boards out of it.
What's a rough cost estimate to build this?
What could I use for these cuts if I don't have a table saw
how does the emergency no power work great job
You just plug up any dc adaptor (the round ones) and it will supply power to the lock.
Do I have to buy the plans to find out the width of the board he used?
Great build! How much can you sell one for?
So many variables that would go into it. Best advice I can give is test the market near you.
Lost me for a second. Once you set 14 degree angle. Do you line the mark on the board with bottom of the blade?
Yes. Basically you want to leave 3/4" of flat on top.
