Oh, NOW Interplay starts to give a damn about their own dead franchise that they haven't even bothered to touch upon since the N64 days of the 1990s... To think that I now feel dirty newly getting into this series starting this year... Never would have thought that a company could be worse than Nintendo for filing something like this at a MUGEN AUTHOR for a non-profit engine out of all things. My condolences to Basara-Kun for all the hard work he's been doing to show support for the whole series. R.I.P Infinite Clayfare, you we're taken from us way to soon...
Well, he isn't out of the game yet, he responded to Interplay and he could always just work on the game in secret and have someone else release it if Interplay doesn't listen to reason.
@@Macaulyn_97 I hope that's the case for Basara, keeping it secret and not telling anyone could have a chance to save it purely. As someone who's been with MUGEN for years, just hearing this about what they did to him hits me hard and I had to come out and respond sharing my thoughts about this monstrosity.
when you make your own franchise, you can decide what to do with it. But you can't just appropriate a franchise and give it away for free lol, there's rules that need to be played by.
Reading the description really hurt me and I COMPLETELY AGREE. For years I've tried to defend the actions of Interplay (especially since they own the Earthworm Jim IP and the only other option for the franchise is...THAT GUY...*Shivers*), but after what happened to ClayFighter: ReSculpted and now this, a harmless MUGEN fan project, I cannot anymore. If you're not going to do anything with the IP, for fuck's sake, GIVE IT TO SOMEONE WHO WILL. I mean, hell! You even planned to market off your IPs at some point, so what stopped you?!
I can't believe Interplay really threatened Basara with a C&D for this non-profit project while stuff like mugen compilations being sold online for ridiculous prices is something that exist Are they really petty?
It seems that they are, I mean, its not like they're doing anything with Clayfighter, so it feels like a "its my toy, so I don't want you to touch it" thing, I've seen children more mature.

Yeah, its pathetic. Like a child who doesn't play with their toy, but doesn't want anyone else to touch it, except this "child" is a bunch of adults.
