Scotty Kilmer will go wild 😅
Lmao immediately what I thought
REVVVV UP YOUR ENGINES!!!
Sounds exciting that the Celica is coming back. I’m also excited for the next generation sports cars from Lexus hopefully retaining that super gorgeous sounding 5L V8.
@@Mark.AUS. Lol bro they’re getting rid of v6s I don’t think they’ll have v8s again unless they’re a hydrogen car 😭
but he won't like the turbo.
In this day and age to see an auto maker like Toyota developing a new ice engine is refreshing indeed!
Theyre one of the few auto makers still making sedans. The big 3 in US killed all their small car sedans
@@anekinoo7 They killed sedans cause Toyota wouldn't stop making them.
Toyota hates EVs and hybrids, which is insane. It’s funny all of the people against PHEVS. You obviously don’t own one. Who would be against owning a car you only have to put gas in once every month to a month and a half and it costs penny’s to charge each night?
Bring it Back in a Manual Transmission PLEASE!?!💯
Why? So the 2 people that buy it get to go back and forth in 1st and 2nd? Or cruise on highways in 4th or 5th? Or to have something to do with their hands while driving?
6-spd with proper "Stiff" coilovers with manual adjustment, no electronic dampers. Proper bolstered seats and 8k max rpm.❤
Oh I agree .
They don’t sell!!
Best theft prevention
I saw a Scotty-Gen white Celica in an accident today. High school girl even had a heart-shaped exhaust on it 😢
That's a tragedy that won't make mainstream news.
Kirk, What about that fabulous Starlet? Toyota needs to get back in the affordable hatchback game ASAP. 😉
Poor girl I bet she was traumatized she probably loves her Celica hope she’s OK
Hey Kirk, I enjoyed your version about the Celica! Great to talk to you yesterday! Time for a collab when I'm back from Japan...
@AutomotivePress The Man From Japn
1986 celica gts was my very first car in 1997 out of high school, and I loved it ( thanks mom ❤).
Mr2 , Celica, Prelude….and more 😇 Gotta be saving until these come out and hopefully pick one up 😍 feel like the early 2000 again
The Japanese makes are restoring the feeling, the American automakers have lost their way
@@LoneWolfSparty Vtec just kicked in yos, Joke aside, I’m feeling like it’s their strategy to leave us craving and wanting something so bad then finally giving us what we missing 😬
Life is wonderful indeed !!! 👍👍👍
Toyota is on 🔥!!
lol.
I have a 90 GT-S and a 93 GT both 5-Speeds. This made my day!!!!
+1 Back in the mid 90s had a '91 GT-S, fabulous car. The quality was unbelievable, including an incredibly robust 16 valve NA 2.2 liter, with a drivetrain feel that belied its front drive configuration, and a luxe interior with a yet to be repeated (by anyone, including Toyota) combo of rich corduroy inserts and knit (what seemed like wool but likely high grade nylon-polyester) bolsters, something you might expect custom order from Porsche--maybe. That was all topped off by a great, then-high spec 10 speaker CD stereo. Despite the expected 16 valve configuration, it was not the sewing machine high rev'er the twin cam Hondas and Acuras would become known for, but what it gave up in RPMs it made up for with great grunt, was nevertheless not afraid to rev and was an enormously satisfying, strong pulling powerplant, especially when mated to an equally robust and willing 5 speed,...all of that seemingly forged from some single indestructable chunk of metal. It at least seemed like it would never break. And it's handling was very solid. I particularly remember a drive up the California coast, sunroof open, as it effortlessly soaked up those curves. It was the widely hailed era of near flawless Japanese cars famous for trouble-free Camrys, Accords and Legends, with those genes thankfully shared with their sportier Celica, Supra, Integra and NSX stablemates.
My only complaint was that I wished for an interior scaled a little bit more for my large (long torso'd) frame, especially wanting in headroom... but once sandwiched in, it was a very comfortable and satisfying ride. The seats were well shaped for most folks, holding you in place while still being forgiving unlike many of today's bricks under the butt where you often wonder if they actually gave any thought to the seats at all? I'm not usually one for rear wing-style spoilers, but the Celica is one car that really benefited as configured on the GTS and GT with its low-profile, well integrated spoiler, as without it it was a bit of a jelly bean, less special IMO. Even if I had a lesser trim, I would have retrofitted that spoiler on it.
Its about time... Toyota going back to it roots. There is hope for the future.
I had an 82 Supra way back. I loved that car and that straight six manual transmission. Killer looks even for today IMHO.
I had a 1985 celica GT-S as my first car back in 1997... and i loved that car.
welcome back Celica! I had one back in the '80s!
So freaking excited. I still love my S185 all tracs, 2004 GtS and GR Supra but been waiting for a new Celica for almost 20 years. Can’t wait :)
Cool looks like life is worth living a bit longer to see the car in action! 😂
It’s all talk at this stage
Well of course since the Prelude is coming back this makes sense. Im very interested!
Yesssss!!! AWESOME News!!!! I still remember the 1st generation od the Celicas…… late 80’s and early 90’s which was the one that I like the most…
You are awesome sir!!! Thank you for your hard work always sharing the best information since you are japanese and speak the language! That’s a huge blessing! I wish I could speak it too! And Thank you for your hard work and sacrifice traveling to Japan to take the factory tours and collecting the information DIRECTLY from the sources, like Toyota, Lexus and others….
I can’t wait to see and hear what you are going to share with us regarding to your next visit to the Tahara Plant, at Aichi, Japan for the Lexus IS500 (that I bought it), and other models like the 4Runner, Lexus GX550, etc…
God Bless You!!!
Always liked the iconic Celica
The 5th gen Celica (especially the turbo AWD version) was one of my all time favorite cars, both in terms of looks and performance/ability, and this new version seems to inspired by that golden oldie. Looking forward to seeing how close to this rendering it will look like in real life.
It's baaaaack!
Thank you for your info.
So, it’s celica all trac?
Greetings from Canada thanks for sharing this video about the future toyota from the past 😊
This is exiting!
If the Celica (especially if it's in GT4 trim), MR2, S-FR. and Land Cruiser come to fruition, Toyota is going to be taking big shots across the bow of other manufacturers.
The American makes have lost their way with regards to affordable sports cars and quality compact cars/sedans that are at a good price point.
David, While I welcome the return of the Celica and MR2, I am particularly intrigued by the Starlet. According to the extensive research I have conducted, the Starlet was last sold on this continent 40 years ago. This means it is really overdue for a comeback. With its winning combination of 67 hp engine, 52 mpg Highway rating and rear wheel drive layout, the Starlet must have been the inspiration for the famous Corolla GT-S/AE-86 which followed a few years later. Finally, let's not forget about the 'Miata-fighting' S-FR, Toyota has been promising that for nearly a decade.🤩
This is great news. I bought an FRS years ago because I always wanted a Celica as a kid and as an adult I could not find one in good condition.
Toyota is killing it recently! Can't wait to see modern versions of both the Celica and the MR2! I better start saving up now!
I had a 1976 Celica GT with back. It was five speed manual and it was the best car ever owned. Plus it looked outstanding. Bring the bring back that model please.
Liftback
Toyota make me happy ❤
David, your videos are amazing. i would love to discuss car details with you. i currently have a GR Yaris and a 1998 ep91 Starlet GlanzaV so the starlet excites me. thank you for all the great info, i might make my way to tokyo auto salon next year. i have not been since 2020.
I'm waiting for a new MR2, midengined, open roof... plse...
This.
I had an 80 Celica. Would buy this new one ❤
Me too. It was a great car!!
Me three!
The Starlet was sold in Australia, before discontinuing its sale and then replacing it with the Echo now Yaris.
Toyota wants to position this against the returning prelude
👍 would be a beautiful dream to see the return of the toyota celica on the road again so many people been waiting for this day, the return of a beautiful car is just the dream we all want.
They are also saying a miata-like sports car coming from Toyota too.
Some many good memories with Celica going all the way back when my parents bought their 1st Toyota 1978 Celica hatchback. Hot car into the 80's. Excited!
Awesome
That's great news, and the rendering looks nice. Also the other vehicles. I really like the new Camry SE.
I own 2 Celicas and I absolutely love them. This makes me soooo happy.
100% Toyota developed + 100% ICE = 100% excellent. Also excited for the MR2.
Fantastic car .
I had a celica supra... loved that car.
Something that’s not boring? FINALLY!
My good friend in college had the All_trac turbo. I couldn’t afford it then, but I’ll get one now.
I wish the new engine was a 2.2-2.4 L engine, rather than 2.0 L since there are/ have been so, so many 2.0 L 4 cylinder engines over the years. Let's say a 2.4 L, 4 cylinder engine not only would allow for more HP and torque; but it would remind us of the engine that used to power the old Honda Prelude back in the 1990s. Can u imagine the power and torque that the GR engineering crew could squeeze out of 2.4 L with all the newest tech?!
Thank you, Toyota for not giving up on the ice. This is exciting.
I had a 78 coupe celica and a 83 lift back loved both great cars.
I had 2002 Toyota Celica and absolutely loved it! Bravo to Toyota for keeping cars and niche ones at that!
Love seeing that Toyota is keeping true to their brand and not running off the EV cliff like so many other legacy auto brands
My first car was a MR2 86' in 1992. I now have a Scion TC 2016. Always wanted a Celica, was talking about the Celica GT-Four to a work colleague not later than yesterday, it's like a dream come true.
Celiac looks simple like the 90s, I love it.
And Look at that MR2! 😳
New BMyota Supra looks so beautiful , especially in that grey
What’s the future of the LS David?
Any news on the Land Cruiser SE
Love all this info especially “ice”
This makes me very happy as my first car was a 1984 Supra, which as any JDM-head knows, was based on the Celica at that time. When Acura brought back the Integra I was happy and considered it, but the limitation to a 4-door (and its rather unattractive rear proportions) had me pass on it. A Celica coupe that is a real 2+2 and with a manual transmission option would get my money.
I need that car!
2.0L Turbo4? ( like is200t, nx200t?)
Nice looking Prius coupe.
Speaking of sports GTs can we please get a side by side comparison of your new LC 500 and SC 430?
I had a 93 GTS and loved it! I always wanted a GT4. Looking forward in seeing Toyota going back to its roots! I hope it doesn't impede on their GR86 sales.
I want this. I think Scottie will buy this one!
I have had great memories having owned the manual Celica for 12 years (same as Scotty) It was a great sporty car! But I have moved on and feel much better in a comfortable SUV now. Best luck to all future Celica owners 👍🏽
Im really interested in the mini land cruiser. Hopefully it will come to the US.
Celica, my first car in America. It had a manual shifter. Can’t wait for the new one tocome.
Icons don't die. They live on. The Celica is an example.
Cannot wait for the new Celica had mine for 25 years and can’t part with it. Will buy the new one at the drop of a hat. counting down the seconds.
I can't wait to see the new celica. I love the superas too .
Think the 2.0L turbo will pair nicely with the hybrid drive train for the NEW RAV4????
AS LONG AS it comes with a 6-speed manual as at least an option. And, I'd really appreciate Rear-Wheel-Drive, though if it looks like that red, sleek car you've shown here, it would matter a lot less. Very gorgeous car!
Would AWD suffice if they can't make RWD?
Celica was RWD before 1986
@@LoneWolfSpartyno
Whoo-hoo, now I'm excited. AWD Celica and MR2 is fantastic news. Glad I've been saving up. Toyota listened.
Fabulous David, Toyota will dominate the car industry, with their high quality and excellent engineering.
A Celica model from the late 80s or early 90s offered AWD as I recall. I hope it has a manual transmission.
Toyota's motion ❤
Hopefully they aren't too conservative with the styling, the Celica has always had a pretty unique visual language for its segment, so I'd like to see that carry through to this new version.
I truly love this all out offensive from Toyota !!! It’s truly a blessing to all Toyota fans !!! Just don’t make us waiting for long !!! 👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️
Its surprising that they are not putting a hybrid in it.. But that is exciting- also with that new 2 liter Turbo it makes me wonder if they are looking at deploying that across the range as an option for people who are not fully on board even with Hybrid? I could see that being deployed in the Camry and the Rav 4- as I am sure that it will have enough power for both of those vehicles... To be honest I have often wondered if at some point they would offer the 2.4T in the Camry as a TRD model?
I think they will need to keep the Camry 100% Hybrid to keep CAFE space for all those gas guzzling 4X4s they just introduced.
Any news on FJ Land Cruiser?
I had a 1997 Celica GT Limited Edition convertible in black with tan interior and tan soft top with the 5 speed manual! I miss that car so much, I regret it to this day for selling it. :(
My first car was a Toyota Celica, this is exciting news, and maybe, just maybe I may drive one!
Yes Thank You Toyota❤❤ My first car was a 7th gen gt Celica in Red
Had a Gen 5 with popup lights in my early 20s. Beautiful car and wonderful memories. But times have changed, this is just old tech, high powered sports EVs are the way of the future.
That’s good news. But if celica doesn’t looks like a sport car, it’s not celica please don’t bring sedan and call it celica avoid CVT trans. I own 2 celicas I love them
It is so cool what Toyota is doing. I can't wait for this car, I hope it releases with a manual transmission.
If they make it available with retractable top? I’m in!
Great News.. but most won't be able to afford all the dealer mark ups.. The Prius is still limited and still commanding the high prices..
I see lots of Camry in the front end, so if there is a maybe 4 door version the revival of Camry Celica?
Really waiting for the new Land Cruiser FJ.. 🤞🏻
So it will be replacing the GR86 I assume since it will so similar in size?
I have 5th gen, and it's the best
I love my celica!! - been driving them for the last 23years!
(On my second one 😂)
Best Web magazine indulges wild rumours.
Is it rear wheel drive? From the looks of the engine it looks like it might be. My questions is why don’t they put this engine into the mr2?
Mr2 would likely have a powerplant it can share with lotus
If the FJ mini Hooper, Celiac and MR 2 arrive in the USA, Ford, Buick, Jeep, and Chevrolet will have to cancel their car vehicles. Jeep already cancelled their Renegade upon seeing the FJ cruiser mini Hooper out of FEAR:)
Toyota would have the biggest fan base and the highest loyalty from customers out of most manufacturers. They have announced EVs are off the table. ICE & Hybrid is the answer. This combination will leave EVs in the junk yard !!!
Coming back in 2 to 3 teats? Hopefully it has a gas engine, manual, non turbocharged option, and looks as good as the pics.
Don’t know what’s going on up in Canada - but in the U.S. we always pronounced it sell-i-ka with emphasis on first syllable.
This could be my next car.
My next car could be a 1965 Plymouth valiant slant 6 found in a barn
So the Alltrac Celica is back ! Still have 2 ST165’s. And Yes they both run and drive.
I find it hard to believe it won't have a hybrid available at least as an option
