Like the fact you bring them in the parlor before they freshin!!! That takes a lot of stress out of them after they calve. Its one thing to freshin them in and makes it even more stressful after they calve and they have to also go into a place they never have been before and handled!!! They know the sound, they know their herdmates are there, good way to do it. Nice Nice group of 2 year olds, nice bunch of cows period!!! Kevin
Kip , your heifers are huge and are nice and calm. It’s nice to see the farmer who raised those heifers milking those heifers. No yelling, no whistling, just calm and kool. They know you and trust you. Great job. Thanks for the video.
Enjoyed seeing your parlor and I love the simplicity but efficient working of the cattle. Continue on and teach the next generation of dairy farmers. Thank you.
you are calm and easy with your girls. Very nice to see. How about a radio in your parlor. Cows love music and will look forward to coming in to hear the hits. haha . You treat them with respect and dignity.
I only know 2 things about a cow they eat a lot and they crap a lot but i sure do appreciate everything that you and your cows do when i sit down to a nice hot dinner with a tall cold glass of vitamin d after a long hard day of framing houses so all you wonderful Farmers out there you keep me fed and i will keep a dry warm roof over your head to lay down after a hard days work on the farm
Excellent video - again! Keep it up as your technique with your animals taking your highest priority is heartening to see. (From an old dairy farmer kid with Surge milkers - no pipeline!)
your cows are so clean.I like how you actually do care about your cows.looks like you have your farm running like a oiled wheel. Thanks for explaining your procedures.Nice video.
My dad had to sell our dairy herd about 10 yrs ago. We had a side by side 4 on each. Almost always had 1 new heifer we had to put a rope up to block her leg from kicking the milkers off. I've been kicked more times than I can count. Dairy farmers get all my respect. Your herd looks really good, esp for how many head your milking.
Great video. I have been in a lot of dairy barns and have milked many many cows. I have never seen a dairy barn set up like yours is. Also I never saw anyone lay down newspapers. The dairies I worked in back in my younger days were double 4 or double 6 herringbone barns. Your heifers look really good. Good job sir
Nice looking herd you have Kip!! Nice and calm too. They (cows) feed off the energy people radiate if that’s the way to say it. If you’re calm most likely the cow will be calm or remain calm. If you’re mad, upset or excited the cows will feel that and react accordingly. Generally that is. Great vid! Cheers
Great videos. It's good to have a guy like you making these videos to show the animal activists that us farmers do care about animals very much. You've done a good job training those heifers.
Nice job getting the heifers to run the gauntlet a few times before they get introduced to the milker. I just chuckle when they swing their head down and look at ya with the come-on man, how about some more feed!
Really cool video ! That newspaper would make awesome red worm bedding after your done with it . I use red worms to compost so I see little things like that .
My uncle always tought me and my cousins to pet the heifer and talk to them and be very calm and gentle when she didn't come in are parlor right and and I guess my uncle was right because those heifers learn really quick
Thank you for sharing. Very interesting and informative how u milk 🥛 heifers. I enjoyed your videos. Heifers did well in the parlor. Whole lot different from a tie stall barn . I milked 70 cows auto take offs
Good job Kip, steady as U go. The new heifers react 2 the people around them, obvious they R pretty calm, good job! I had the pleasure (LOL) of being kicked couple of times by new heifers in old stanchion milk barn. That will light up UR day! 👍👏😊
Hi Kip, I enjoy your videos! You have a nice farm there. With those Nupulse milkers, do you have to re-time the pulsators very often? Anything you really like or dislike about them? Thanks!!
I know I keep repeating but that yet to calve heifer is a tank!!! Amazing how a little feed can sooth the wild beast , my dad always called that kind of feed for the bucket calves he raised Cracker Jack's because it was real was real sweet to get them started ! I'm just gonna guess that pig pen my not be the cleanest heifer in the lot !!! Hahaha Thanks for the very interesting video !!
Nice and calm heifers, we had some really bad ones. Dad would take a rope and put it around her in front of the udder. Tighten it as tight as possible, then when she tried to kick she could only jump with both feet . She might kick off the milker but not kick us. Great video, thx!!!
We herded the cows but never chased them, we petted but didn't hit them, matter of fact we petted everything on the farm including the hogs, tame animals know pretty much your there not to hurt them, their maybe scared of something new but your there and it calms them. We always brought the heifers in before they calved and they got use to the barn and what was going on around them. The only thing left was the first milking and that was always exciting but they always calmed down with a few pets and talking to. They all got their own habits and quirks and we knew each one of them. It's what makes the herd.
Kip you are so calm and talking to them helps the beauties to relax good on you i got a few kicks from first time milkers but the worst kick i ever got was from my girlfriend over xmas your not with the cows now she said ha ha ha
Hate to see that poor heifer with the torn teat, bad enough when it's an older cow. Tough break. Heifers look good though, nice and calm, hardly see them lift a hoof. We get the odd one that likes to do a dance as you put the milker on lol.
I watched and listen to what you said and they were very calm...I liked the way you do these things so I subscribed to your channel...your the reason I drink so much milk ...God made the best drink...MILK...
it's great watching your videos and see how you are always so calm with everything. The one with the water breaking started getting little jumpy, was there ever a time that you had one freak out and what would do you do get control? thanks
Do your Milkers automatically retract when finished. I work on a dairy farm. We milk from behind .. id be scared to go in on the side like you do.. you need a football helmet for milking 😊
Great job you got a great dairy farm kip we do commercial hay and beef cattle but we have one Holstein nurse cow named daisy I can get her to follow us anywhere I have always liked the dairy outfits we had them at one time but it was before my time I always keep one around here for twins or orphans she usually raises 3 or 4 calves a year and she spends her winter in the garden behind the house she doesn't seem to take the cold as good as our Angus based cows but like your setup and cattle handling I can't stand people screaming and yelling darting cows and chasing cows I can put 120 in the barn lot faster than you can say let's go reason being as soon as you say that here you 100,000 pounds of cattle come barreling off the hills and terraces and they 'll be waiting in the bunk feeders
Keith great job. The cows are calm you guys are calm. You might have edited it out 😜 but did not even see one cow lift her hind leg. Great job. How many pounds on average are you getting per cow? Love the videos Thanks
Good lookin heifers! Freshening heifers is one of my least favorite things to do. Very necessary though! What kind of production do you see out of them?
Yep that’s what they were. The neighbors made fun of me for buying them because they had just came out with them. Can t believe they are still out there and you can get parts for them they worked great for me except for when it got below 10 degrees or colder they would freeze up sometimes Thanks for the reply brought back some good memories from the milking days
Even though they are calm though doesn’t mean they won’t try to kick the shit out of you if they get the chance. How many cows do you normally let in at a time and why not just 1 at a time?
That's the advantage to feeding them in the parlor!!! Said it time and time again cows that are eating are more calm and content then cows without feed !! The feed is almost a distraction from the fact someone is touching them not to mention the 8 pound milker under them that they cannot see!
I still think the "Cow" is the best animal that God ever invented, although it might be a close tie with a good dog!
Agree with that!
My Grandpa would have put his team of horses first. The team feed the cows that brought in the money. Friendly cows and a loyal dog are best animals!
@@kswaynes7569 My Grandpa & Dad would give a big THUMBS Up 2 UR comment!
@@KipSieglerFarming1 of course I never milked a dog, not yet anyway,

Nice looking and clean cows for winter in a free stall with tails. It looks like they are cranking. Are those Universal milk units ?
They’re nupulse milkers
