Building In a HOT Spring

  • It has been 6 years now since we had to start over after a medical release from the military. We moved to a remote location, sold it and moved to a better but still remote location on a small mountain and have been building our own home. We started off living in our RV while we built the first home. We are living temporarily in a farmhouse we purchased while we build this new one. We are finally at the stage to get started on the extension subfloor so we can start raising walls very soon and are that much closer to moving in to our new full time self built home!
    Our names are Ashley & Jeremy and we are building a cabin alone in the Canadian wilderness.
    We're a couple trying our best to live a more self reliant life after a medical release from the army changed everything. We are currently building on a small mountain in the woods. We'll be sharing that and much more, so subscribe.

    Major progress. You all look great and healthy. I can't handle bugs so I give you credit for your perseverance. I'm happy that you film the building process. It will be nice to reminisce a few years down the line, and be able to show Tiffany how her home came to be. love the shots of Sam. She is precious. Love you all so much!

    Sorry to hear the building bug season has started. Great job on the floor. Every time i see you Ashley i think to myself you’re so lucky i don’t live by you. At the age of 3 1/2 my oldest sister got pregnant and i was always hugging the baby, giving it a kiss and talking to it saying i love you and can’t wait until you come out of there. When she came out she knew me. I’ve been doing it ever since with every baby in our family. They really do recognise my voice right away. I’ve always been the designated baby sitter because of that as well. Hope you all have a Great week and Thanks for sharing !!

    Ashley love seeing you doing our bit helping Jeremy, but then you are a Team. I have always said the most precious thing a woman can do is give live, and that’s what you are doing. Love the footage of you gentle rubbing our tummy and so touching when Jeremy placed his hand on it. It’s great to come one this latest journey with the new build. Sending love from the UK 🇬🇧 to you in 🇨🇦❤️💙❤️xxxx

    Ashley, looking good...and sun burned. But hair is coming in nicely. Don't need the scarf.
    Jeremy I am amazed how well the bubble foam does for you. But I think the skirting is a key and the foam allows enough heat to keep the crawl space warmish.
    Good job you two. And I lover your banter. Hence a long time viewer and a Patreon! (when you bring that back). Reminds me of me and my wife.

    Curious why you have foil up on first roll and foil down on second? Noticed second roll was rolled backwards ,but thought you would flip the piece after you cut it. Also wondering would it work if you attached the bubble foil to the sheets of plywood, then set them down on the joists and screwed them? Either way I’m impressed with the work ethic of you guys. Once you put the mud room between the two buildings you’re going to have a ton of space. Great job guys👍👍🇨🇦

    • @MBFModernHomesteading
      @MBFModernHomesteading  29 днів тому +1

      No reason, was just easier to lay the plywood , it makes no difference. And we talked about the new roll in the video, it is just a little bit different stuff. I think it would take more time to cut all the foil and attach, it would also be a pain taping all that up later. Thanks!

      Thanks but we get a TON of comments on our videos, if something is literally talked about in the video in detail it is kind of not fair to us to have to re-explain things we already talked about in the video in the comment section. It takes away from new comments and questions that weren't already touched on in the videos. You could have just watched that section of the video again where we are talking, it isn't something easily to miss as we talk about it for a few minutes. It is a TON of work to put these videos together. If you have questions that weren't already answered in the video, we try our best to get to most comments and answer those. We appreciate you stopping by but hope you understand where we are coming from. All the best.

    Another groaner of a dad’s joke. Have to admit, they do make me laugh. Hope you aren’t impacted by Forest fires or the awful weather many parts of the US is experiencing. It’s scary and wide spread.
    Your pregnancy looks like it’s progressing as it should. Glad to see the floor taking shape.
