I thought I as the only one who did this, I work in a bus garage so I have access to plenty of old engine oil, if I’m putting fence posts in I soak them for a few days, just the 2ft that are going into the ground, if it’s a shad base I mix with creocote, stops any moisture getting into the wood.

With so much clay in your soil, you could extract the clay out of it, build a kiln, and make pottery. So many possibilities: plant containers, bowls, mugs, dog bowls, outdoor oven, etc. All basically free.
You need a dirt processing plant to get the nonsense out of the clay clay doesn't just come out of the ground ready to be turned into Pottery it actually has to go through a whole water process kind of like gold but you want the heavier clay left behind and it's a mess to get 10 lb took us 3 hours😂😂

your gate will sag over time. if you had made the cross member start at the top by the beam and end at the bottom near the connector it will last longer. when it starts at the bottom it helps keep its shape but the support isnt there for the bottom over time. when you make a gate that is not temporary make sure you put the support at the top connecting to the beam.

Ooh, are you gonna keep bees? Grow fruit? Dang it. I'm invested now. Also, my woodworking teacher would go off at you about the pallets, and any recycled wood with metal in. Can destroy your tools or injure you. Otherwise, I'd recommend learning some nail/screwless joinery. You could make some amazing furniture that'd outlast your future grandkids. You could probably get a production line going with splitting long logs into rough planks. When you're ready to move from temporary structures to things that will last for generations, the art of the plane and the chisel will serve you well. Go looking for old fashioned tools that don't need power. Axe, splitters, saws, drills. Just takes time.
Great video loving it !! Please be careful with power tools near water…good you had rubber boots on 👍. I really want to see you complete your dream…you’re a true Aussie girl.
String up a tarp down at the pond. It'll give you a dry workspace without having to pack up everything and waste time and energy hauling everything back up to the containers. Everywhere that you put a screw into the gate railings, you need at least two. Great job, looking for the next video.
the first thing I learned watching this is like 500 things al togheter. this is an entire school hahaha. I learned that you don't need any type of comfort or high end instalations or tools to achieve solid work and speed doesn't matter, you see to alway take your time to do things, it seems slow, then I think... yeah... slow and stesady is.... fast. Thank you for sharing your efforts.
The house plans sounds amazing, especially the bath onsuite in your bedroom and balcony. Excited to see your progress and see the drawings of finished building designs. And what cladding of house will be.
Awesome job and commitment i am going to be building one of these soon. So much awesome info and you not hide mistakes so we can learn from them too ..nice gates .❤
The angle pieces on the gate are backward of how they should be. Should be top from the post to the bottom of where they connect. That is how it supports the weight.
What an awesome video mate , the gates were a brilliant idea and you do need privacy because technically by law if your property has no gate then they can say they made a mistake and thought it was a track but with gates they would have to actually open them or climb over the fence and that's trespassing ... that jetty will look great a brilliant idea , can't wait to see the work on the containers , we'll done, looks better and better each video🙏
You could try the old 'stick gate'. 3 strands of barbed wire attached to the post on one side and a star picket on the other. Put a circle of wire on the bottom and the top of the other post. The star picket sits inside the bottom ring and then you tension the 'gate' by putting the top ring over the top of the star picket. Add a couple of droppers or 'sticks' in the centre to hold it together
Thanks soo much for the general plan ideas for your home. Looking forwards to seeing your vision come to life. Even if you make changes as you go it will be soo good. Glad you got a gate in. It's nice to feel a little more safe with a gate.
That’s my absolute pleasure I was so worried I carried on for too long haha but the full video was 15 minutes of rambling 😂 I can’t wait to see the vision come to life and yes definitely pleasured with my gate 🙏

Awesome video! I always look forward to these when they pop up. Tips for chainys and tree felling. Have atleast two chains, get a stihl two-in-one sharpener for the rakes/teeth, chuck your gators on, and you can use canola oil for bar/chain oil in a pinch (but it will go rancid if not used up). Also, if you like pool then tree felling comes easy. Just a bit of geometry. Cheers 😁
I’m so glad you are enjoying the videos, I’ve been having so much fun learning everything ! And thank you so much for the tips I’m going to need to clean mine up real good as well , great tip about the canola oil! 🙏
Its hard to keep people out. I live on a major highway leading to wine country, we get heavy traffic in the summer from people from Toronto. I get people all the time pull in and take pics of themselves in front of my new ridding arena. Gates and signs will help. Still working on my pond lol
Oh what!! I can’t believe that! So it happens everywhere then! Haha, thank you I definitely need a sign! Yeah the pond is a bloody big job! Hope it’s going well!
Well done Girl!! My partner was watching your video and I loved what you’re doing so subscribed too! We’re cheering you on from NZ! Glad you’ve got those gates done.
Amazing how your doing it all yourself. Bet you just feel so excited after each completed bits 😊. Can't wait to see your container house completed. 😁. Lovely smile as well. 😊 Girl power ☺️ x
You are quite entertaining... learning as you go is the best education you can get. I built my home from the ground up as well - took a long time but so worth it. Looking forward to the end result.
awersome seeing you shape your home dream. ive found with using pallet wood its easier to chop the nails off with bolt cutters or a angle grinder and either leave the nails in or you now you have less work to get nails out.
I’m honestly loving it at the moment, see how I feel in a few months 😂 as long as I keep it new and exciting I think I could entertain myself forever doing all this 😂 thank you!
Great job with what you've done so far. An observation I've made with spiral staircases and that is it is ridiculously difficult to get furniture up the staircase. Best of luck.
Love watching your content. Just one point about your gates though, the diagonal brace should go from the top of the post side stile to the bottom of the middle side stile. Otherwise they will sag and drop very quickly. You could also just put a second diagnal brace in the correct location so they form a cross.
Love every episode all your ideas and ways of doing everything you work so bloody hard May I suggest Your diagonal braces for the gate both braces meet up the top in a up side down V back to the posts on the opening so the help transfer the weight back to posts and stop the gates dropping
I do tree felling and wood cutting on my friends farm in winter couple of chainsaws a ute and a high sided trailer and we go around the property cutting up Mainly the trees pushed over by the wind but also some that are dead standing the standing ones I just cut a "V" in the base as low as I can go safely and on the side you want it to fall naturally sometimes the angle of the tree will dictate that cut the tree into manageable lengths in the trailer then up to the hydraulic wood splitter where we split them into fireplace sized chunks we usually leave these next to the splitter for a year or two which is at the top of the mountain on a huge rock (his farm is located on basically a rocky mountain) to dry out a bit
Re opening and closing your container, you need to do both handles on the one side together and one will be either a little ahead or behind the other one depending on opening or closing. Hope that makes sense.
Hi new to your channel, this may have already been suggested, I thought maybe you could take a tarp to the waterhole to chuck over your stuff when it rains instead running back and forth. :)
you should clear some of the trees around your living area, given the fire risk in the Australian outback. either that or get a really good water pump to put out fires using the water in your reservoir.

Thank you so much I appreciate it! Yeah I was trying my hardest 🙏
Battery powered tools unlikely to be shock hazard but if 240v powered by generator or inverter on car battery then yes can be unsafe.
You really are an amazing woman and your energy/zest for life is infectious. I know you will definitely achieve your dreams.
Wow thank you so much that’s such a lovely thing to say 🙏
String up a tarp down at the pond. It'll give you a dry workspace without having to pack up everything and waste time and energy hauling everything back up to the containers. Everywhere that you put a screw into the gate railings, you need at least two. Great job, looking for the next video.
Great idea! Thank you so much for the advice! 🙏
The gate looks fantastic and your pond is going to be fantastic when it fills up. God Bless from your Canadian Friend.
Thank you so very much! I’m loving my gate and wow you should see how much the water has risen in the pond now 😍🙏
the first thing I learned watching this is like 500 things al togheter. this is an entire school hahaha. I learned that you don't need any type of comfort or high end instalations or tools to achieve solid work and speed doesn't matter, you see to alway take your time to do things, it seems slow, then I think... yeah... slow and stesady is.... fast. Thank you for sharing your efforts.
Aw thank you so much I’m so glad it was of value to you and you enjoyed it, only up from here ☺️🙏
The house plans sounds amazing, especially the bath onsuite in your bedroom and balcony. Excited to see your progress and see the drawings of finished building designs. And what cladding of house will be.
Thank you so much I’m so excited for it all I hope it turns out amazing 🙏☺️
wow girl you are a powerhouse!!!
i’m so inspired , so happy for you, and so envious, as you’re living my dream. ❤
Thank you much it’s been such a rewarding journey so far ☺️
Love your channel- your one amazing woman ❤So hard working and absolutely stunning!
Thank you so much ☺️🙏
Should have this all finished in a couple of weeks! Really enjoying this build.
Thank you so much ☺️
Awesome job and commitment i am going to be building one of these soon. So much awesome info and you not hide mistakes so we can learn from them too ..nice gates .❤
Thank you so much I’m trying to show as much as possible for that exact reason so I really appreciate that ☺️🙏
The angle pieces on the gate are backward of how they should be. Should be top from the post to the bottom of where they connect. That is how it supports the weight.
Thank you! 🙏
With a shorter jetty you could add on a floating section and join them together 🏴🏴🏴
Good idea!
Gotta make sure they have the right gear on for the site. Like safety Uggs and pajamas! 😬
Yeah dam I’ll get them next time 😂🙏
The Ytube algorithm took a while to pull you up but very glad it did. Very motivating, thanks!
My absolute pleasure! And welcome to the journey ☺️
Same!
Thank you so much! Yeah I’m so happy I got the gates up and the jetty posts being in is so exciting too 🙌
Really starting to come together now, well done looking forward to seeing what’s next 😊😊😊😊
Thank you so much and it really is it’s very exciting !
Get some ducks and chickens or the bugs gonna go crazy at the pond. Clever cookie, good luck. Looking forward to seeing your journey.
The ducks have come naturally thank you ☺️🙏
You could try the old 'stick gate'.
That’s an interesting gate I’ve never heard of that! Thank you so much for sharing !
Quick tip with the storage containers, apply some oil at the top and bottom of the latch. This will make it super easy to open the door.
Perfect! Thank you so much
Thanks soo much for the general plan ideas for your home. Looking forwards to seeing your vision come to life. Even if you make changes as you go it will be soo good. Glad you got a gate in. It's nice to feel a little more safe with a gate.
That’s my absolute pleasure I was so worried I carried on for too long haha but the full video was 15 minutes of rambling 😂 I can’t wait to see the vision come to life and yes definitely pleasured with my gate 🙏
i really enjoy watching you be happy when talking about your house plans! keep up the good work!
Thank you so much I get pretty excited thinking about the possibilities 😍
@@Building.a.Dream-Barefoot_Jas also i really can't wait till its all done and finished! knowing you, youll be done by the end of the year haha youre a bloody hard worker!
Can't say you're not a hard worker, nice job
Thank you I appreciate it! I honestly really enjoy the hard work 🙌
Great stuff,, the clay is crazy cool i have never seen so many colors well digging a hole.
Thank you! And yeah I’m so excited to try make something with the clay ☺️
You are so cute and have such a good energy going, im hooked to follow your dream.
Thank you so much! I honestly get so excited with all these new jobs I get to do! There’s so much opportunity to create things here !
Well done Girl!! My partner was watching your video and I loved what you’re doing so subscribed too! We’re cheering you on from NZ! Glad you’ve got those gates done.
Thank you so much for the support guys! So happy you could both join me for the journey! And so stoked about the gates 😍🙏
Amazing how your doing it all yourself. Bet you just feel so excited after each completed bits 😊.
Can't wait to see your container house completed. 😁. Lovely smile as well. 😊
Girl power ☺️ x
Yeah each new thing is honestly so exciting! I can’t wait for it either! Thank you 🙏
You are quite entertaining... learning as you go is the best education you can get. I built my home from the ground up as well - took a long time but so worth it. Looking forward to the end result.
Thank you so much and wow that’s amazing it must be a great feeling now though? I can’t wait for that day!
I would put signs up saying NO TRESSPASSING that would bug the hell out of me remember stranger danger.cool vid
Thank you so much! My gate is filled with signs now 😂🙏
awersome seeing you shape your home dream. ive found with using pallet wood its easier to chop the nails off with bolt cutters or a angle grinder and either leave the nails in or you now you have less work to get nails out.
Thank you so much and that’s a great idea!
Hey mate. I really enjoy your videos. Your belief in yourself to learn what ever you have to to get the job done Is excellent.
Thank you so much , always got to back yourself 🙌
You are amazing! You just keep getting it done.
Thank you for sharing your journey!
I’m honestly loving it at the moment, see how I feel in a few months 😂 as long as I keep it new and exciting I think I could entertain myself forever doing all this 😂 thank you!
You are so clever, love watching your world come to life ❤❤
Thank you so much it’s been so rewarding every step of the way ☺️
Great job with what you've done so far. An observation I've made with spiral staircases and that is it is ridiculously difficult to get furniture up the staircase. Best of luck.
😂😂😂 shit literally didn’t think of that
Love watching your content. Just one point about your gates though, the diagonal brace should go from the top of the post side stile to the bottom of the middle side stile. Otherwise they will sag and drop very quickly. You could also just put a second diagnal brace in the correct location so they form a cross.
Thank you 🙌🙌
Amazing ❤ follow your dreams and accomplish your goals. You are definitely in paradise. Love it. ❤️
Thank you so much I really appreciate that ☺️🙏
Awesome job. Your energy and enthusiasm is infectious.....Keep it up Gal. Also cant wait to see it.
Thank you so much I’m so glad you’re enjoying the videos ☺️🙏
Looking forward to following this journey. Good Luck!!
Thank you so much so excited to share it with you 🙏
What’s up dream builder, looks great you’ve come a long way, I’ll keep checking in on your progress, keep up the great work
Thank you so much for the kind words and saying hey I really appreciate it ☺️
Little tip, find a hollow pipe that fits over handle of shipping containers, about 2 feet and you find it much easier to open door.
Great advice! Thank you 🙏
You look so good being on your own.
I remember the days when every comment was about camera work. Your project is a worthy one.
Wow thank you for being here for the journey I really appreciate it ☺️🙏
Im so invested. I cant wait to see you lounging on that upper deck 😊
Thank you so much I can’t wait for that moment 😍
Love every episode all your ideas and ways of doing everything you work so bloody hard
May I suggest
Your diagonal braces for the gate both braces meet up the top in a up side down V back to the posts on the opening so the help transfer the weight back to posts and stop the gates dropping
That’s such great advice I had no idea thank you so much 🙏
I do tree felling and wood cutting on my friends farm in winter couple of chainsaws a ute and a high sided trailer and we go around the property cutting up Mainly the trees pushed over by the wind but also some that are dead standing the standing ones I just cut a "V" in the base as low as I can go safely and on the side you want it to fall naturally sometimes the angle of the tree will dictate that cut the tree into manageable lengths in the trailer then up to the hydraulic wood splitter where we split them into fireplace sized chunks we usually leave these next to the splitter for a year or two which is at the top of the mountain on a huge rock (his farm is located on basically a rocky mountain) to dry out a bit
Oh awesome! Thank you!
this is so cool we have a lady in town in WA (330 Pop) who is building a Container house its really interesting and cool
That’s awesome ! How far along is she?
Re opening and closing your container, you need to do both handles on the one side together and one will be either a little ahead or behind the other one depending on opening or closing. Hope that makes sense.
Ooh yes it does thank you so much ☺️
Hi new to your channel, this may have already been suggested, I thought maybe you could take a tarp to the waterhole to chuck over your stuff when it rains instead running back and forth. :)
The dogs must be living their best life there. Best place for dogs.
They really are 😍
Just subbed to you for how sweet and nice you are and bailey and I are so excited to see what you do with the place ❤❤
Aww thank you so very much and big hello to you and Bailey ☺️❤️
@@Building.a.Dream-Barefoot_Jas thank you so much we hope you have an awesome day 😊♥️
you should clear some of the trees around your living area, given the fire risk in the Australian outback. either that or get a really good water pump to put out fires using the water in your reservoir.
I got this place for the trees they aren’t going anywhere 🙌
