      If there was a toilet in my shower/tub at home, I'd do the same thing. Granted, people who aren't taking shower don't want to sit on a wet seat.

    Nice truck however 2 problems 1. Weight. I bet that thing full of fuel and ready to go is 33-34000 lbs that's without trailer. Even if you get aluminum flatbed that's 12000 lbs even with 44 k loads you'll have to watch how much fuel you put in it due to weight. 2. Length. As shipper and receivers get more docks it gets tough to turn this big boy around

    • @DirtShy
      @DirtShy 7 років тому +1

      BoostedDeere I was thinking 22k when I was watching video, so I was thinking with a dry can, no loads over 35k. that said, with that wheel base, it's got to be something to back into tight spaces. also it won't fit in a truck stop parking spot, too long!
      I can see this truck hauling hazmat and explosives when you can't leave load till delivered.

    • @garypollard9770

      You guys are looking at this all wrong! First you don’t bump a dock with this rig second you don’t haul freight. This is a specialized hauler. Aviation, high end automobiles and household goods. Things of this nature!

  • @LeonAllanDavis

    Looks like the bed was an afterthought.
    "Hey! We forgot to include the bed!"
    "Just stick it on top of the dinette!"
    "But then half the table can't be used! Customers won't like that!"
    "Fuck the customers! We're smarter than they are!"

  • @wizardmix
    @wizardmix 8 років тому +13

    So if a driver going to spend more than a house or a Bentley on a rig like this, why is there this assumption that 25+ year old yellow oak and an afterthought interior layout (as noted in some of the comments below) is going to be appealing? It doesn't have to be all the way to the build quality of a Prevost custom motorcoah but c'mon now, can we at least emerge from 1989?

    Personally, I do not like the "wood surface" cabinets/doors. In a tight space like that I would not want to be surrounded by wood. I would prefer polished-looking surfaces, kind of like those you see in high-end RVs. Some of the drawers, especially the one for satellite receiver and DVD player, look cheap as hell, albeit unintentionally.

    • @hydrazombie
      @hydrazombie 8 років тому +1

      a fully loaded trailer hook to him would have weigh less than 26,000 .lbs with full tanks of fuel to be just under 80,000 .lbs and the average empty trailer weighs 14 to 15 thousand .lbs empty, so the freight and fuel can't be more than 12,000 .lbs, a hole lot of small loads.

    • @AdriaanVerburg
      @AdriaanVerburg 6 років тому

      hydrazombie figure that again. 26000 for truck. 10000 for trailer. That's 36000. So you can load 44000 lbs. 22 tons.

They are being manufactured because there is a demand for them. The manufacturer does not have to be a truck driver in order to understand what certain drivers want. There are lots of driving jobs that don't require docking ever at all.

      Does the one you drive have a "regen" instead of a catalytic converter? People blow their horn and point "Your trucks on fire!!!" And the Volvo "soft" suspension must be something that some people get used to -- but it still bothers me.

    • @jerrybushman
      @jerrybushman 8 років тому +2

      rprimbs Everything has the burner now. Soft suspension? Air ride? Air ride is air ride no matter what the truck. Volvo Trucks have the highest survival rate in accidents. 99% of all Volvo wrecks the cab door will still open. Ever since the VN came out, I, as a body shop manager have come across a Volvo wreck that the door did no open.....never. In a head on collision most trucks the engine enters the cab with the drive. Only in a Volvo does the engine go to the ground under the cab, always. On and on and on. www.volvotrucks.us/powertrain/emissions-technology/

    Sure it's got more amenities than the Volvo VNL but boy does it looking ugly, clunky & very early 80's given it's 2015. No streamlined cabinets or bed. They didn't tailor make anything for this. It was all bought designed for a home and just chucked in a truck. American design.

    And European drivers need to feel comfortable sleeping around the same time as their American counterparts in a 70x200 "couch". Ridiculous!!!!

    What a bunch of negative comments on here. Do you all copy each others comments?
    New price of these trucks is around $260000 depending on what you want. The cabinets are built according to what the buyer wants. No need to shoot the builder. A lot of buyers of these trucks are married co-drivers.They usually stay out on the road for extended periods. In general they pull light loads like furniture, air freight and jet engines. And the loads are always expedited loads. None of this kind of freight comes close to 80000 lbs gross. These trucks don't go in tight places. They go to airports and other such places.

    Consider filming the inside of the cabin again, but this time, with one continuous (un-cut), 360 degree view of the entire living space. The edits are choppy, disorientating and don't give a sense of what the living space is really like. Your video gives focused close ups of certain areas before cutting to other area. Was that the intent? Consider eliminating the music and the text. Instead, have someone narrate all of the features of the truck from a script so that none of the features are missed. I stopped watching at 7:30. This video could have been half as long and far more effective. Nice truck but the video doesn't make me want to buy one. Things buyers might want to know: wheel base, weight, tow capacity, fuel capacity, servicing requirements, potable water tank capacity, driver's instrument cluster, visibility, new technology, etc. None of that is in this video.

    In the clip it says 525 HP, here in the description only 485 HP. Hmm... and by the way: The Interior need to be done by someone who is not willing to oversee some craftsmanship mistakes ;-) If this is custom built, good luck to that one who designed it. A wide bunk bed with need to crawl above the first one is really a poor solution for such a big dog house. Just my 2 cents for this.

    Great for a retired truck driver who is used to this kind of lifestyle, is single, and wants to just cruise the country without a care. Take off the fifth wheel, add a storage box and you've got a truckers' RV. I was very close to doing this until I checked into insurance......not worth the effort and cost.

    One of these is not bought to pull loads from the board. These are bought for a specific job, mostly hauling moving vans, where the loads pay good, and aren't too heavy. Forget about going OTR with a dryvan with one of these

    electric cook top? you better have good batteries and charging system. gas is so much easier for cooking applications like this, and it really isn't that expensive. 1 propane take could power a stove forever. back in phoenix most appliance are electric, except for our stove which was the only thing that ran on gas. we had 2 tall propane tanks out in the yard, and they would go bad before we ran them empty, they lasted insanely long!

    the layout definitely not designed by a Long Haul Trucker. the captains chairs should rotate to face rear. the driver compartment opening should be as seamless as motor home. The shower should be at rear for easy cleaning near door. should be a small side door with a window. those white plastic walls are sickening.

    Shame on Kenworth. They bring a whole new meaning to trailer trash....not the people who reside in them but the quality of work and design. Someone was clearly "asleep at the wheel" when they signed off on this one.

    I bet turning and weight is pain in the ass with that truck, you'll get pulled over right away because in the looks of it that thing is heavy asf even with few payloads of a trailer.Shorcut road won't be a thing for that truck, and not only you're getting rip off due the Tolls but that thing will eat alot of gas.
