Storing items is HUGE, i don't think people understand just how game changing this is.
For the first time in history we have a way to mitigate RNG reliance without causing balance issues in relation to items themselves. Faust has always had the fundamental issue of having to build his gameplan on the fly, the reason he's been so good until strive is because he was already a strong character without items, they just added onto his strength.
But in strive he isn't anywhere near the strength of other characters, he almost always requires items to space for neutral and get himself out of the corner.
What this special move does is allow Faust to play far more aggressively or passively, as a free extra burst (meteor, mini Faust, weight) can be stored for when trapped in a corner or losing neutral.
It's not exactly a buff, as you can still just lose to rng, or win to it. But it is definitely a healthy change for Faust as a whole and I'm hyped to see the new combos people pull off with stored hammers and trumpets
Indeed, storing a randomized item and being able to play knowing what exactly you have sounds huge.
I'm hoping for Millia and I-No to get something just as big though.

I'd imagine the ability to withhold yourself from throwing out a trumpet at your enemy is game changing in itself.

Johnny is cool and that's the only reason we need to play him.
Faust getting to still be random but having a little more control is going to be potentially really cool, because now a Faust player can do some maniacal levels of planning with what they get
I'm glad to see that Johnny is finally back, but I'm more excited that "Liquor Bar and Drunkard" and "Original Bet" are also gonna be coming back! Johnny's theme songs absolutely slap, and I can't wait to hear his full Strive theme.
Johnny was high tier but he really deserved it because his combos while awesome and powerful really required precision and alot of knowledge of how some of the characters would 'react' to getting hit during the combo. Here is hoping soem of the old Johnny Bros can take HC down a notch.

May is the closest I got to having a main in GG, and her getting dirty jump cancel mix off dolphin is simply fantastic. She didn't need it, though. She was good right at launch.
I’ve seen a lot of people theorizing that she’s getting a nerf to dolphin along with the new move, so it’s more of a mix-up but less spammable
She's my main in strive but I'm kind of bored of her. She's extremely good and very easy but doesn't have much interesting stuff. I would take a dolphin nerf that gives us something more complex.
She definitely needs it. Not for balance but because they took away a lot of her tools and fun. Nerf her damage and whatever else but give us back tools to compensate. It makes for a more fun character.
She's too linear, so if they are adding a move hopefully they are getting a slight rework on dolphin in general

I personally feel like Anji’s new move will be some sort of follow-up after Spin connects with a move to allow Anji a more consistent way to punish people, and probably let him punish moves he couldn’t before.
I’m all for a new overhead I can throw out in neutral however, very happy my boy is getting some love.
Funny thing is, potemkin is getting the orange wild assault, so I dont think we can reasonably guess who is getting what color based on their character type. Also Gio has the orange one.

the fact that the update drops the day before my birthday makes me extremely happy, not only because it looks great but because its also the day before it turns 1 year since i started playing strive (i played it pirated before), cant wait for it to drop

Edit: I thought wild assault being in different colours was simply a cosmetic thing for each character and nothing more (White for Nago, Blue for Chaos/Bridget, Red for Testament) e.g. Millia's would be yellow, Potemkin's would be green(?), Baiken's would be pink etc.
I think it's a bit more complex than that since we know there's 3 versions of Wild Assault, so each having their own colors makes sense

I just want Chaos to not be so dominant. He's the best and least interesting character to watch, I also want him to be balanced so people don't have to hate him, his character is so cool but as a fighter so lame.

Season 3 starts off by making every may main (of any gender) sacrifice their loved ones to the guilty gear gods. (May gets a new move and Johnny gets added. I personally know my sis who is a may main changed after playing may and would 100% buy a Johnny body pillow)

I think the wild assault versions are based on when they are used. Like I think white is from neutral, blue is a normal canceled assault, and orange is cancelled from a special? That would be my guess
I want them to add Dizzy. My one buddy just isn't interested in the game cause she isn't in it, and it pisses me off, because the game is so fun. And Strive was my first introduction to the Guilty Gear series

if you look at the footage frame by frame, ensenga actually started on the ground. so... it's a ground special that puts you in the air now, sort of like a way, way cooler foudre arc.

Potemkin should get a new attack where he chugs a bucket of glue giving him a damage, defense, and speed buff
Deflect shield is literally just blitz shield from xrd, but with 50% burst instead 25% meter

They did mention DLC characters eventually getting new specials. So I would really like to see something like badlands from +R for Testament but Ill take anything tbh lol.

all it takes is a cool looking guy with a katana to get my drive to want to actually get good at fighting games back, ggst is the only form of guilt gear content i know of the series so i didn't know who johnny was but he looks awesome and that's all that matter ( if you can't tell i pick mains based of how awesome they look and would i feel like a badass playing them which prob isn't a good habits cause all the cool looking characters in games are hard that's why i tried playing hc cause he brings a freaking gun but then stopped playing him in a week cause i forgot how to play and my brain dunno how to react when i how to do a move backwards cause i switch sides on the screen still fun tho)

ok, may player here and i have to STRONGLY disagree about may not needing a new move, and it's not because I think she needs buffs (she doesn't), but because it's super lame to basically just use totsugeki and no special move aside from that, maybe some beachballs here and there, but that's it, she needs more moves to be more interesting and if that means she gets nerfed in other ways? Do it.
As a not may main, I absolutely agree. In strive, I refuse to touch her much cuz she's just too boring. It's okay to have a more liner, straight forward gameplay but May is that taken to the limits. Nerf her and make her more fun pls

In terms of characters who could use new specials... I honestly feel like most characters are in a pretty good spot right now.
Still though, sticking to the original 15 fighters...
- Ky, while perfectly viable as-is could use a new special move to spice up his currently rather stale gameplan (though do bear in mind that as a Ky main, I am of course biased towards him getting new shit to work with, and if _May and Ram_ can get new specials for some goddamn reason then hey anything's possible). I don't know much about Sol but perhaps he's due for the same treatment; If any Sol mains are reading this, please do let me know whether or not he has a stale gameplan in your eyes.
- Axl and I-no could both do with a little boost right about now; Axl especially is already kind of struggling and the addition of Strive Rush doesn't bode particularly well for him
Sol main here (not very good but still a Sol main). I find myself wanting more stuff to work with in the match, so I'd say atleast one interesting move. The problem is, I don't want it to make him broken because I know if you give him *one* wrong buff he could get busted in an OP way.

Okay, as a faust main (mostly xxac+r but also a bit of strive) faust having item storage will allow faust to do some of the most insane looking combos in the game consistently. It also gives faust a new semi reliable anti air in hammer/weight
Also, I was kinda hoping they added some new items to faust's pool of items since faust is just missing something with his item toss (like the poison vial, mind's of other characters, maybe just a ground rolling projectile or something to add to faust's items)
I am also a Faust main and the combos look crazy and this new move is going to help a lot. I wonder if eating food items will just heal you now.
