8 year old kids ride dirt bikes without gear indicators, its just something you get used to. If you've never had a gear indicator, you wont miss it. I sure am curious how quick the 500 is. If I am at a light, will I be able to out accelerate the car that wants in front of me or get out of the way of some turd tailgating me on the highway. Maybe the 750 would be a better fit for me. From what I understand, the 750 and 500 have same dimensions, so for very little money you can get a bigger engine that you can grow into as long as you are a level headed person. I must admit, for a 500 the engine sounds pretty good. Thanks for the video.
I have the xg-750 and it will pretty easily out run normal cars, more performance cars it will struggle. Now Idk about others but I was able to top it out around 115-117mph. I suggest the 750 for a your first bike it has good power and it's fun to ride. Hope this helped
I like the riding position, it's just a standard motorcycle. I grew up riding small displacement bikes, and while I now have a Goldwing for the wife and I, I still ride my 1970 Honda CB350 quite a lot. I like this Harley and will be buying one soon.
It's certainly capable, whether it is suitable or not depends more on the rider than the bike. It sounds like a bit of a cop out but take it from us after doing numerous tours throughout Vietnam on 150cc cruisers of a similar size and weight for two weeks at a time. Are there more suitable bikes out there for long distances? Yep, but it will still get the job done.
This bike is HD trying to get people to get into there line of American HD's. But it is made in India which makes it a better bike any way. Some people just need a bike that is light and fun to ride and is modern in every way.
I have the roadking. Nit bought a street 500 for mu daughter and wife to learn on. Perfect for that. And I have fun running short aerraround town. It's a fun toy for me to blast around on Have the load pipe. It sounds bad ass fora little bike. They need to start making them again
Fun little fact if you guys didn't know. This was the same style of bike used in Avengers age of ultron movie by Captain America, course they used the 750 version. I recently just bought this bike for a steal. got for $4,000 at harley davidson Chandler Arizona USA.
Hi.. I wish I could know your name. I'm from India. I desire to purchase the Street 750. And the bike is quite exciting to see and hear about. I guess in the 2016 models, the braking is much better. In India, the street 500 is still unavailable. But there is some insider news that it will be released in September of this year. Until then, we have the Street 750 for order. For my question to you, I'd like to know if the foot pegs really grind across the road when you bank (too much) on turns ?
Ahhh. Thank you very much. Yes. I'm an Indian and currently reside in India. But born and raised in a different country. I guess that helps ;-P Thank you very much for your appreciative compliment!!!
Richard Clark I do love it because it's my first bike but honestly, if I could do it again I would of bought a nice bike from victory because since the street 500 is so new, it doesn't have many accessories eg saddlebags. The only saddlebags I can get from Harley are small and only fits folders. And I have to get another brand and fiddle around heaps.its a really nice bike but it doesn't offer too much. Cheap though
JohnnyRebKy The base Sportster 883 is $3,000 USD more. That is about 45% more than this already costs. The Sportster is also still $2,500 USD more than the 750 version of this bike as well and only makes 8 more ft-lbs of torque.
better gas mileage, better for really young beginners (14-18) who don't need all that torque... there are advantages to the Street 500 over the 883. Besides, the bike is really aimed at urban riders who want a shorter wheelbase and more tossable bike than the 883 to avoid potholes. Go watch the Revzilla review of the Street 750, its pretty much the same bike but this one is better for the younger riders I mentioned.
im not from there but i guess you have the ninja 300 there...im not a beginner and i wish i had one...this is really a neat little machine. in my opinion it take all the features of classic bikes of the 60's but put on it all that modern thecnology have to offer. put a 1962 triumph into a time machine to 2017 and what would come out would be a 300 ninja of course its not an 'unlimited power' bike...all the fun is to whip it to get it going
Cycle Torque honestly Vulcan S is easy to handle, feels light and I love it uses the same engine as the ninja. The street and Vulcan S are both styled nice
@@cycletorquedotcom Fair enough. I more or less knew where it would be in the ballpark of. I guess I was looking for numbers. I did like your video. We don't see many of these in the midwestern USA, where HD is from. Its usually all big ones. I was curious about this one. Thanks.
Haha yes your knees would bang on the bars on a Grom! Nigel is a similar height at about 6'2". Best way to find out is to take one for a ride and see how it feels.
Most of the American Harley community don't understand the intention of this bike or the 750. They all bitch about it being small under 883. I've been in so many arguments over why the street series was a good idea.
The Street series is to attract new buyers - people who like the Sportsters are already well catered for. In many markets around the world the 883 is too big for learners to legally ride. Here in Australia the Street 500 has been a big seller.
should have been changed the design of the bike I don't like this one 750 Street also same looks stupid in Harley-Davidson bikes... HD bikes r my fav this model I hate in India its going to launch at how much will b the price
Had to turn the horrid noise off. These bikes are nice but there are.many better ones for same price or less, I would luv this bike if it was a 1000cc, twin disk front, better suspension and a passenger seat.

I have a 500 and it feels pushed when you get to about 70 mph. I feel take off is nice! Great starter bike!
@@tam3519 what year is ur model

I actually like the look of this bike, despite not being a Harley fan. And that kids prancing about in the background is a crack up.
yooo hows it going mate!

You still overpaid. This India made moped should be $3299.
Good review by a down to earth Australian man well done...
Much appreciated!
thanks...went and bought 750 added what i like. now i have a minnie cruiser with balls
Robert Gwinn, where exactly do you put the balls?
Can you turn off the super loud horrible music in the background? I just want to hear him and the bike.

Jabez Judson I would just like to say that your English is excellent and that it is far better than many native-speakers.
Ahhh. Thank you very much. Yes. I'm an Indian and currently reside in India. But born and raised in a different country. I guess that helps ;-P Thank you very much for your appreciative compliment!!!
Jabez Judson Where are you from?
I was born in Muscat, "the sultanate of Oman". But I permanently reside in Chennai, India now.
Don't ever call a Harley the perfect bike for a 'hipster'.
+TheWrangler48 Why not? Hipsters are a commodity.
True. Hipsters much prefer clapped out XSs and butchered airhead BMWs...
Crocodile Dundee have you seen who's buying new Harley Davidsons? A lot of hipsters.
Thanks for the video real insightful, I bought the 2016 model today. Well paying it off that is
+David Borgen Enjoy it!

I'd take a 883 all day long over one of these. 883 was my first bike and no issue at all to learn on
JohnnyRebKy The base Sportster 883 is $3,000 USD more. That is about 45% more than this already costs. The Sportster is also still $2,500 USD more than the 750 version of this bike as well and only makes 8 more ft-lbs of torque.
JohnnyRebKy us Aussies can only ride up to 660cc on our learners licence
and the street harleys dont vibrate like hell either.

Not me. I'll take the Street 500 all day long over an 883.
Made in India????
In Your opinion what is the best cruiser motorcycle for a beginner for an Aussie

I like this bike !
Awesome video, very informative greetings from Nagaland India.
How is the maintenance on this bike?
how is this compared to a Triumph Street Twin for a first motorcycle ?
what do you get for ten thousand dollars?, not self cancelling indicators it seems
Sure, it's a nice feature (new riders who are used to driving cars, for example) - but it's not a hard habit to break. It's the least of our worries.
It's a habit that can get you killed though, ya gotta turn those flashers off or some cager WILL get you..
All the more reason why you should learn to break the habit then ;)
your indicator is on
Gear indicator?
need shots of the instrument panel and some sound of the exhaust wihtout background music
Would you guys recommend this for your first motorcycle ?
Yep!
Yes all the way
These are 6k brand new in the States.
I want one ! Lord hear my request
I wanted this at first but I wanted a bigger engine so I bought the VULCAN S instead
MR PERFECT I rode a Vulcan S not too long ago. We should have a video up soon.. What are your thoughts on the Vulcan S so far? Ryan
Cycle Torque honestly Vulcan S is easy to handle, feels light and I love it uses the same engine as the ninja. The street and Vulcan S are both styled nice
hmm gear indicator should be needed.
WhyNotEveryThing 2017 has the neutral indicator
What about power, braking and handling?
Your kidding right?
Elite

It's called "English"...
***** did you think I wrote it in Spanish?
The Harley-Davidson Street 500 looks like the self operating motorbike from the movie Terminator 3 or 4 . lol , funny.
no it doesnt.
What do you get for $10,000? A less reliable $5000 Honda.
Those are not the stock wheels, at least on the US models.
U didn't watch the video did u
Missed it. Mentions wheels at about 4:15. Thanks.
You didn't mention engine performance at all.
Really? It's adequate.

nice bike dude
how tall is the reviewer in the vid? I'm about 6'3" and I don't wanna feel like a goon riding a grom

Russell, why don't you get the bike you want, not what other's think what you would look like?
Fun fact: greasers used to ride Harleys
Are you really tall or is that bike really low.
Tall-ish and the bike is pretty low.
My mate rides one, lowest seat height I have ever sat on. Its a small bike compared to our SVs
well, your seat height is higher than mine, mines 780 I think
28" height
harleys are just to comon now they are every where
Not push Rod. Valve clearance sucks
La 750 es una buena moto de paseo no consume mucho y es fiable

+Nigel Paterson that's why I'm getting a street 750 I'm not ready for a bigger one yet . But I love Harley
the point of the Street 500 and 750 is to get those Harley fans from day one instead of having them go learn to ride on a Rebel 250 or Boulevard S40
i wanted this bike until i heard india....
Well for America , Canada , and Mexico , those harley are made in the usa ( Kansas), but for the rest of the
world most are made in india
Basically Harley’s for 18 year olds
Steel chassis? Really? Wow!!

Nup, not a cruiser, has to be forward
Don’t go with the brand not worth it. Very disappointed with mine one. Making one typical sound and they can’t fix it
His legs are way to long for this bike.
That rim is ugly.
Tommy Fletcher They are option wheels - the standard items aren't as radical.
Will this end up on youtube stripped in a thousand pieces like the rest of the murican iron crap.
Its a pile of CRAP I think china could make a better clone for less DONT waste your money
