    This image reinforces my thoughts that Highway 3 should be a viable alternative to Coquihalla. Highway 3 is the best route between Interior and the West Coast. And yet, highway 3 has been neglected. They could have widened highway 3 to 4 lanes with no problem as the terrain is much easier and the weather along highway 3 is much better in the winter.

    • @dylanboll8000
      @dylanboll8000 2 роки тому +3

      It wont be neglected anymore, atleast for another year or two.

      This is no different then Alberta sinking money into failing pipelines...some infrastructure can't be based entirely on cost, scientific planning and extra spending is required for some infrastructure to be sustained.

      After traveling to Peachland several times in 2 years, and enduring the unpredictable weather, as well as the horrific weather in fall and winter, I finally insisted on returning via Hwy 3 one winter. My husband made a big fuss ("It's longer! It takes more time!" Etc) However, I was so relieved to be driving on a road that wasn't like being in Death race 2000 that I didn't care how annoyed he was. It was a lovely change. I've never liked the Coquihalla, ever. On the scale of the highways from best to least, for preference, I liked Hwy 3 most. I always wondered zephyr they didn't just fix it up. I mean, they put how much money into building the Coquihalla?

      Death race 2000?! It’s so interesting how people can have completely different experiences. I have driven the Coqahalla probably 50 times, in all season weather in the last 10 years. Is it a mountainous pass? Yes, so of course your going to get a wide variety of weather of which I have experienced it all. Is it a major highway? Yes- newsflash, people drive fast on major highways. Just pull on over to the right lane and let them fly by.. Same in bad weather, gear down and take her slow.. in 10’ years I have found the highway well maintained and never encountered a problem.
      As far as the hope Princeton- it’s a way curvier road, no meridian down the middle of the highway and I have encountered trucks in the 3’s and 4’s jackknifed on that highway + yes it is a longer commute.
      So for me.. I would take the Coqahalla any day, all day over the other choices.
      Again- many experiences shared out there about BC Highways- this is just mine.

      Yes it is. And the sober truth is that was completely predicted in the Bible as the signs of the end are now upon the world - the judgement has set. Because the world has turned against God, have given Him the bird, and has become evil in so many areas that it is beyond belief. Jesus, Peter, Paul, John all speak of the events prior to HIs return and floods (world wide), famine (massive droughts), pestilence (Covid that keeps getting worse), sexual immorality (it is everywhere from porn to the LBGT movement), massive heat waves (this summer i was in 2 of them), wars, earthquakes (more now than anytime in recorded history), love of money (no kidding), scoffers and those mocking the righteous, the earth groaning like a woman giving childbirth are all going to happen at once. It is there. Read it.
      Sadly, my country and province are not exempt from this. It is upon us. The winds of strife are here. Sobering. And it will get worse. Much worse. The warning signs are all out. One should be asking - now what do we do?

    Extreme weather events are increasing in frequency all over the world, from floods, feet deep hail, drought, and extended cold/snow. None of this is surprising to those who follow solar cycles, the driver of climate on this planet. We just ended one of the lowest periods of sunspot activity in modern times, our magnetic fields are acting up, and jet streams are oscillating in north/south waves rather than their normal latitudinal flow, all impacting the weather across the globe! The Pacific northwest and BC are in the crosshairs currently, but as these patterns shift, who knows who will be next!

    This is what happens when you clear cut all your forests. Now you will attract more kayakers however! Go Canada!

      What makes you think that this is the result of clear-cutting? We've gotten a shit-ton more rain the past couple weeks than we usually get all season. It has to GO somewhere.

      @@BlackEpyon do a little research. It's a fact. Decades of unregulated clearcutting coupled with a couple years of extreme forest fires and you have a huge problem.

    It is a good thing BC came to Alberta's aid when we were struggling with our oil patch melt down. Oh wait, that never happened.

      this is the coastal range. and this is nothing compared to the 1948 floods. this is not climate change. what is being washed away is gravel that was placed there by previous events much bigger then this little event

      Or is it due to not continuing the controlled burns, which of course control forest fires, due to Canada's very far left leaders and latest agendas? That's why California won't stop burning; we stopped the control burns due to far left politicians not bothering to do the research before passing laws, and now it's forest fire after forest fire with each lasting for months.
      For the record, politically I lean left (this wasn't a political attack, just an observation).
