I have just now learned of this truck camper. First of all, I didn't see a ring, so I have got to say that that man is a BABE. All right, back to the camper. That is so clean, bravo! @Outpost Campers
We were able to see the Outpost 6.5 in-person. This rig is IMPRESSIVE. We've seen many, many truck campers--this is by far our favorite. We just bought a different Total Composites rig from this same builder.... had the Outpost 6.5 existed when we ordered our rig, the Outpost would have been our choice. Everything is just so well-thought-out. They tried out different cabinet manufacturers, they tried different floors, they tried different plumbing options, etc etc.... since they're enthusiasts themselves, they were able to actually test out the components, and it really shows. You might think I'm just a fan boy. That's only because I AM.
@@josephpuchel6497 We bought a camper from this company and love it. We've been all over in the US in it. We bought ours before they were officially selling the "Outpost" model. We have an 8' slide-in from them, and we pretty much bought it bare-bones and are finishing it out ourselves. Again, if we could have gotten an Outpost, it would have been the clear no-brainer buy. They're so nice. I don't work for them, I don't have any affiliation. I'm just super impressed with my rig, the Outpost model I saw at their shop, and with the guys at the shop.
This is great! It's so compact and has everyone anyone would really need. I'd probably modify this to put a shower right where the entry is, put a little basin where that storage area is, a shower curtain and boom! Or simply just use it outside, but I'm shy and you know lol. Great little unit!
Met Eric and Taylor at the CO Springs RV show today - nice dudes and very knowledgeable! These campers are very solid and well thought-out! They definitely have an upscale/overland feel to the fit/finish, design, execution. Great camper! ⛰🌲
Best looking interior I have seen. Minimalist and robust, super clean. The thermostat is a little too close to the heater vent (HVAC Guy Here). I would option for higher wattage solar array on the roof. I am aware the new Panels are generating near 700 watts each. A few of those and you could be off-grid without worries. I would also option a Through-the wall "window type" A/C unit. Many of these are 500+ btu and only use 450 watts.
a 700W solar panel will be around 94" x 51". The roof dimensions for a typical Total Composites 6.5" shell are approximately 100" L x 81" W. So, the panel could only be mounted East to West (width wise) and this would require the center-of-the-roof position of the MaxxAir Fan to be relocated to a less efficient placement at the front or back of the roof. The standard 250W panel can be optioned with a 2nd 250W panel for a total of 500W and they could be mounted 1 in front and 1 in back of the centrally-mounted fan.
Very interested in a future larger model with a wet bath. At last a clean modern interior 🙌 Been following Total Composites, like their construction and energy efficiency. This is a sweet camper! Total composites is the only way to go, only downside would be the all white hospital room feeling. But the beautiful cabinets and furniture in this camper really break up that feel. 35k is a big chunk of change but when you consider what Bidenflation has done to the cost of everything this is actually a very reasonable price. I know everyone has their 2 cents to throw in and it's impossible to please everyone but it would be very cool if there was a pass thru window for trucks that have a rear sliding window.
Overall a very impressive camper. My favorite feature are the storage units. Very nice, I really like having plenty of storage units. My concern though is weight. I recently bought a 2024 GMC 1500 with the Turbomax 4 cyl. engine. Truck has a 6' 7" bed. Payload rating is 1850 lbs. I know air bags and bigger leaf springs will prevent sag. My concern is engine performance. If your team ever puts this camper on a Chevy/GMC with the Turbomax four banger please post something. Thanks.
Absolutely love the design and camper great job. One concern i have is if for some reason there was an electrical fire from the power hub while someone was lying in the bed it may be very hard to get out. There is no dedicated egress point from the bed area.
Thanks for the feedback! The Outpost 6.5 does come standard with a cassette toilet and a shower sprayer for outdoor showers. Since this first video we have also added an portable interior shower option. Check out our Optional Add-Ons Guide to learn more about this option! outpost-campers.com/optional-add-ons-guide/
Great video, looks like an awesome camper! I was initially torn between the Kimbo and Scout and then saw a video suggestion for these from another channel and had to check this out. I am adding this to the contender/consideration list for when I get a truck camper. I am guessing this would work for a Toyota Tundra with a 6.5 bed?! Also, sounds like this would be a much closer location to check out and tour as I am only one state away, in Utah. I want something that is truly a 4 season camper and very durable/reliable. Looks high quality! Is any of it customizable or is this pretty much standard? (Ex. Blue cabinets/trim, without the cassette toilet if someone already has another one, etc.? Would be nice if there was a place to store an extra propane tank on the back for other uses outside since this is fully electric, but I suppose there could be some sort of after market configuration).
Hey Taylor! Absolutely amazing truck camper!! Esthetically AND functionally beautiful! Quick questions please: 1. If you have a standard F150 truck, can it carry the weight? Or do I need leaf springs, upgraded shocks, etc? 2. Are the lowest cabinet functional? The ones on the kitchen side? No one has opened them yet in video 3. Does your grey water spill over onto the ground? No probs if it does. 4. And finally, what do you think is the perfect truck/ add-ons are for weight and agility? Thanking you in advance 😊
Having the tailgate on makes for another way to secure the camper and gear on the sides when the tailgate it up. When your at camp having the tailgate makes for an awesome back porch to stand, sit, store muddy shoes, etc. Another advantage is more and more trucks have integrated steps in the tailgate.
I figure this campers is just for 1 person because if you want to go number 1 or 2 there’s no way you’re taking a leak or dump in front of each other with the cassette toilet. A bathroom(shower/toilet combo)should be standard on campers because it’s a necessity, considering with this price range.
Love the looks of this set up. Seems like a quality build. I am impressed with so many of its features. What is the grey tank capacity and where is the discharge for it? Can’t decide how important an air conditioner is. I love the max air fans. I like the composite and R value of this camper. This is definitely on my radar as a contender. I just hope this is something I can handle by myself as an older woman. Since there is no dealer close by to help.
Thank you for the interest! No internal grey water tank on the Outpost 6.5. The only internal tank is the 20 gallons of fresh water. There is a grey water discharge port on the drivers side of the camper that you can hook a standard hose to and run it to a bucket. Take a look at our Truck Fitment & Install Guide video to get an idea of the process of taking on and off. It is pretty easy and becomes a breeze after a few times of doing it.

I am wondering how this camper can be loaded and unloaded. Also how will get through -40°, -50° Farenheit winters. Can be conected to a gas generator? I am just doing my research, wanna start full time truck camp life. Thank you guys.

The same shell technology has actually been used at the North Pole! It is one of the best on the market when it comes to extreme weather performance. I must ask where are you getting -40° temps?? It can be hooked up to a gas generator via the shore power plug on the rear drivers side of the camper. Great job on the design and execution! I have a couple of concerns - lack of a gray tank and a hot water heater. I can probably hack not having hot water but inevitably we are going to have to pull into a full-service campground and I don't think the folks would like to see gray water draining on the ground. Do you see any mods that would allow a small gray tank for those situations?
Thanks for this question! The cabinet that the fridge sits in has vents built into it. You called it, right next to the control panel in the kitchen space
Wow this is the WAY that all campers should be built....Not crappy, compressed wood, ill-fitting, poorly assembled junk that is being put out these days with non-existent "inspection" and driving off the lot means a list of 10 immediate grievances that must be resolved by leaving your camper over a month at the dealership while they resolve for parts. The so called new "boutique" camper builders, Scout, Kimbo and the likes of Outpost which uses this type of shell, are where it is at, and growing, except for Arctic Fox, Alaskan and Northern Lite, which have always been of higher quality (and of course price). Question is, will there be an 8 footer version? With a shower/toilet on one side and a closet/storage on the other to fill in the size and extend stays? $39,995? Cause there is nothing, after a long day hike or fishing in no man's land, like coming back to your camper in the middle of the cold wilderness to take a shower, cook a meal and lay down early for the evening while staying warm.
Thank you! We agree that the composite construction is superior for it's durability and performance over more traditional style construction methods. We are on a mission to build the world's most capable truck camper at a great value and the Outpost 6.5 is the result of this. We are hoping to launch an 8' version in the future with a full bath and more storage high on the design considerations. Run time is going to vary based on a lot of variables to do with outside conditions and the settings of the A/C unit. In general the A/C unit draws anywhere between 500w-1000w depending on the settings. This means you could have a constant run time of 4 to 8 hours with all charging inputs off.
The Outpost 6.5 will work well on 5.5' beds with the tailgate down due to it's forward center of gravity (23.5" from the front wall). At this time we don't have plans to add a 5.5' model. The next model we have in the works is an 8' model that is probably 12-14 months out from sharing.
@@Outpost_Campers It would be good if there was a small (lockable) opening in the main rear camper door where you could stick your hand out and open the tailgate (in case someone closes the tailgate on the person inside the camper)

Thanks for your question! The standard build does come fully loaded with all the systems needed for camping adventures on day 1. Does Outpost have plans for any Western Canada dealers in the near future? It is my understanding that the diesel heaters on the Scout Campers can be quite loud on the outside. Outpost's heaters must also be fairly loud? Thanks
There is actually four ways to charge the Ecoflow system, I was told. The fourth is the ecoflow smart generator. Im just waiting on the model with the indoor shower, and im in.
You're correct! We don't mention the generator option as much as we try to make this completely generator and grid power independent, but it is an additional way to charge!
Thanks for your question! There are a lot of camper and RV options out there. We love the slide-in truck camper platform for the ability to detach the camper from the truck, the fact that you can put it on a 4x4 truck, and in the case of the Outpost 6.5 - incredible insulation value with a virtually condensation free construction method.
Really innovative design...I like the idea of the aluminum cabinets and the diesel heater. From my personal experience with truck campers for the past 20 years I think the inclusion of a larger water tank would be my first ask. Power could be easily augmented with a small honda generator if needed. I think this camper on a Ford SuperDuty Shortbed (6'9") would be idea whereby you could utilize the Ford's "old man step" for entry into the camper and still close up the tailgate. I'm assuming there is an electronic jack option to load and unload the camper?

Seeking a camper to you use deep into winter/ski season. Does this need to be winterized, or would the water tank be able to use year round when in use?
All plumbing and fittings are located within the heated and insulated space, so yes! You can absolutely use your plumbing during below freezing conditions, as long as you keep the interior space of the camper above freezing (which you'd likely be doing if you're camping in it!).
Check out our Truck Fitment and Install Guide to learn what you need to consider to determine whether or not the Outpost 6.5 will fit on your truck. Would be nice if there was a place to store an extra propane tank on the back for other uses outside since this is fully electric, but I suppose there could be some sort of after market configuration).
Hey Taylor! Absolutely amazing truck camper!! Esthetically AND functionally beautiful!
Quick questions please:
1. If you have a standard F150 truck, can it carry the weight? Or do I need leaf springs, upgraded shocks, etc?
2. Are the lowest cabinet functional? The ones on the kitchen side? No one has opened them yet in video
3. Does your grey water spill over onto the ground? No probs if it does.
4. And finally, what do you think is the perfect truck/ add-ons are for weight and agility?
Thanking you in advance 😊
Why would you want the tailgate up or on the truck at all?
Having the tailgate on makes for another way to secure the camper and gear on the sides when the tailgate it up. When your at camp having the tailgate makes for an awesome back porch to stand, sit, store muddy shoes, etc. Another advantage is more and more trucks have integrated steps in the tailgate.
I figure this campers is just for 1 person because if you want to go number 1 or 2 there’s no way you’re taking a leak or dump in front of each other with the cassette toilet. A bathroom(shower/toilet combo)should be standard on campers because it’s a necessity, considering with this price range.
Just make your girl go sit in the truck 😂
Looks really high quality and very well thought out. Way out of my budget though. But if you got the bread go for it!
Great camper, I especially like that there is no gas tank. Can a microwave be added? Is there hot water for outdoor showers?
Great looking camper. Well thought out. Is white the only exterior color option?
Thanks! We put a lot of time and thought into designing the Outpost 6.5! White is the only exterior option at the moment. Sign up for our newsletters to stay up to date with any product updates, we will continue to make improvements to the Outpost 6.5!

VERY NICE! definitely considering outpost over competitors. i personally don’t love how the refrigerator opens to/touchs the couch. would it be possible to have the back cushion extend only to the power hub instead of towards the water tank?
Thanks! With the Outpost 6.5 being a production model we can't make one-off changes such as this. However, what you are describing would be an easy modification after your get the camper. Out of curiosity what don't you like about the refrigerator opening all the way to the back cushion?
Also, we have made slight enhancements to the back cushion since filming this video - see it for yourself in our updated tour video.

Would it be possible to mount some sort of racks on the roof to carry kayaks?
This is damn nice
I am wondering how this camper can be loaded and unloaded. Also how will get through -40°, -50° Farenheit winters.
Can be conected to a gas generator?
I am just doing my research, wanna start full time truck camp life.
Thank you guys.
The Outpost 6.5 comes standard with 4 mechanical jacks to unload and load it to your truck! Check out our Truck Fitment & Install Guide on our website for a demonstration of this process.
The same shell technology has actually been used at the North Pole! It is one of the best on the market when it comes to extreme weather performance. I must ask where are you getting -40° temps??
It can be hooked up to a gas generator via the shore power plug on the rear drivers side of the camper. The Outpost 6.5 comes standard with 3 modes of charging, solar (with 250w solar panel standard), shore, and dc to dc.
@Outpost_Campers thank you for your answear. I am getting even -50°C in North Canada.

No bathroom? No toilet? No shower? If this is ur route - better and more inexpensive way is just get a camper shell.
Thanks for your comment! A toilet does come standard in every Outpost 6.5. Taylor shows it in this video at 13:20.

@@sharonbraselton3135 There is a vent. I noticed it on an updated picture. Vent is next to the ECO FLOW command center.
Sign up for our newsletters over on our website to get notified about future product updates!
Just as a correction, don’t leave the windows cracked open when driving. They will rip off the camper. It is in the manual.

Whats the runtime for the AC unit with the expanded battery system?
Run time is going to vary based on a lot of variables to do with outside conditions and the settings of the A/C unit. In general the A/C unit draws anywhere between 500w-1000w depending on the settings. This means you could have a constant run time of 4 to 8 hours with all charging inputs off.
Will you make a 5.5 bed option??
The Outpost 6.5 will work well on 5.5' beds with the tailgate down due to it's forward center of gravity (23.5" from the front wall). At this time we don't have plans to add a 5.5' model. The next model we have in the works is an 8' model that is probably 12-14 months out from sharing.
What brand of induction cooktop do you use?
I would want a microwave
The power system that comes standard on the Outpost 6.5 will be more than powerful enough to power a microwave!
What do you have for flatbed trucks
How does one get out of the camper when the tailgate is locked?
The passenger window above the dinette serves as an emergency exit!
@@Outpost_Campers It would be good if there was a small (lockable) opening in the main rear camper door where you could stick your hand out and open the tailgate (in case someone closes the tailgate on the person inside the camper)
How do you get in it if your truck doesn't have a step built into the Tailgate?
There are several aftermarket ladders available for trucks without built in steps.
What the set you back?
Very nice, subtle colors, functional! How does one reach and tighten/loosen the front internal strap tie downs?

Thanks for your question! The standard build does come fully loaded with all the systems needed for camping adventures on day 1. This includes a robust 48v electrical system with a 2kw lithium battery and 250w of roof top solar, powder coated aluminum cabinets, Lagun table, Maxxair fan, 86l fridge, induction cook top, deep stainless steel sink, 2 in-floor storage hatches, 4 jack stands, etc. The options enhance the already loaded standard build and are intended for those who want to push their adventures even further and longer. Help me out. I'm having a hard time seeing how this is ever better than a class b camper van
Thanks for the nice words! Rieco Titan electric jacks could be retrofitted to this camper.

Will the tailgate close on Dodge’s with the 6’ 4” bed?
The floor footprint of the Outpost 6.5 is exactly 76.5", so unfortunately on the Ram 6'4" bed you have to remove the tailgate.
