Timaya is a total vibe , I love , love him . So he is an OG Nigerian musician , many of us in our 20s grew up on his music & more than two decades later he is still delivering. He is one very brave lad, he came into limelight after winning a talent show by the legendary Hilda Dokubo ( if you’ve seen old Nigerian movies she’s on some) to find talents amongst the people on the streets and all that in my city & he won & was discovered & his first album ( I don’t remember it being an EP, fellow Nigerians correct me if I’m wrong) was shining light on the genocide of his people ( the Odi people of Bayelsa State ) by the Nigerian government . Infact , In his Dem Mama video there are actual clips of the incident as reported by Nigerian media & now if you hear the song , you know what happened, it’d never be forgotten & history is preserved without it being jaundiced or tinted by biased people . He had a little rough patch in recent times, the nature of which many of us are not privy to but it’s been gathered that he was abandoned by many other celebrities & some of these people he put in the spotlight ( he mentioned this in the song as well ) so he went under for a bit , so I’m just so glad he is back , on feet , giving us grooves & being grateful. Random fact : he is such a big deal in the Caribbean ( even before this craze of the world with Afro music ) & we are here for it . Timaya , you’d totally rock his music .
I'm going to look into more of his musical journey after having read this comment. Thank you for the information 🙏🏽 It doesn't surprise me that he's loved in the Caribbean. Powerful messages and good vibes to groove to. Can't not like that! 🙌🏽
Wau, I love the way you put things right, you bring strong feelings and inspiration on music. Rogue, I followed you from the time I saw you through the song ( running to you) by chike and simi. I tell you , you are great.
Nigerians are more than ready for any artists from anywhere all over the world. Too many raw and untapped talents scattered all over this country called Nigeria. Moreover, the more surprising thing is that these talents are not only found in musical world, just name it, footballs, movies etc. just to mention few.
@@appleboxtv2263 while I didn't know that Dada mean boss in English, I have never come across it. I feel Dada is a yoruba word. Only your shot up word makes u look primif.
Did you know we have our Version of Eminem in Nigeria?? Lol... If you didn't I'm here to tell you, you need to get on some Oyibo Rebel. He is a white boy, raised in Lagos Nigeria and sings afrobeats. He has two bangers right now, Ojumi bloody , and Rosa featuring Skales.
Timaya is one of our old but gold artist. His songs are always about motivation and hardwork. Nice reaction.
He's rich...and one of the OG's in Afrobeats.
