You can also fly to Thailand (Phuket when i did it) from Australia. From there I flew to Vladivostok on the Russian carrier Aeroflot. Really nice flight and Vladivostok was an awesome city! The people of Russia are great.
Especially good if you don't mind a short trip in Thailand :) However you could miss the second flight on separate tickets if the flight from Aus is delayed/cancelled.
@@JourneyOfAzz Indeed you are right mate. The flight to Russia was cancelled due to bad weather. Aeroflot booked us on a flight out the next day, very efficient and hassle free.

About the language. In cities such as Moscow or St. Petersburg, more people speak English than, for example, in Siberian cities. So no need to worry about the language if you're going to travel to Moscow. It is enough to know basic phrases like hello, thank you and please. I hope that after this video more people will want to travel to Russia. Peace and health to all❤️
Foreign language is mandatory in russian schools and in most cases it's english so almost everyone around knows it at least a little. Actually it's something like 80% learning english, 15% deutch and 5% french. In some schools several languages in the same time but it's more foreign languages learning oriented schools. So as english speaker you it shouldn't be hard to find people around who could help you of understand you if needed. Or just use any translation app which could translate and voicing any phrase - they are common now and subscription costs not too much for a short travel.
Personally I've found the registration thing hard unless I stay in a big hotel. A lot of apartment owners seem not to care about it and don't want to make the effort to do it. I also once had an issue where the host tried to go to register me at the migration office, but they were told it was impossible since even though it's an apartment it wasn't classified as "residential". At least staying in a large hotel you know they do it for you.
Yeah that's something to keep in mind. Hotels are just fine. But places equivalent to like an Airbnb style, may expect Russian tourists from other cities and not even be aware they have to register foreigners.Or, perhaps do know and may not want to go through the effort to register.
Flights from Havana, Beijing, Tashkent, Baku, Yerevan, Tbilisi, Istanbul and Dubai. And if I'm not mistaken, you can cross the land border near Pskov, Smolensk and other cities
Hi Azz, I am from Australia and about to travel to Russia in February with my boyfriend to meet his family 😁 On my visa application I did not list a city that I now want to spend a few nights in… you said that this change of plans doesn’t matter. Could you please explain exactly what I have to do to make an itinerary change? Would I just simply go to that city, and register with my migration card at the hotel I will be staying at? Thank you so much for making these videos, I wish I found them before I had to figure out the visa application by myself! 😂

G'day mate, fellowAussie here..Will be travelling to Russia end of december. Flying from Thessaloniki-Greece to Turkey then on to St. Petersburg. Ive watched numerous videos on currency exchange in Russia, and am worried about the hassle of having bank notes that have to be in "good clean condition", was planning on taking Euro's but someone suggested taking Chinese Yuan, as the Russians and Chinese only do business now using their own currencies, supposedly the Yuan would be exchanged much more easier in any condition?, would you have any thoughts on this ans what currency do yo bring into Russia? Cheers.
It's still very easy to exchange US dollars. the condition of the note is a fair point. Most of the larger currency exchange places in Australian cities will give you the newer USD notes. Almost every note I got was in good condition or brand new condition (serial numbers still in sequence). Don't worry too much about it, when buying USD notes in AUS, reject the following notes: - Notes with a clear fold in them - Notes that have been drawn on (e.g. with pen) - Notes that are clearly in dirty condition - Notes of the old US design They do this with many currencies, even to my Australian notes (and yes, Yuan too). In worst case, what I noticed is, the few nites that are rejected, another exchange with a slightly lower rate is happy to take them. I would keep that in mind. Hope that helps. Send me a direct message if you get stuck! Good luck 👍🏻
Answer to the first question in the title. No, at the moment I don’t want to travel to Russia too much potential trouble because of the current political situation. I need to plan ahead because I need to get vacation approved to get paid PTO days. Getting a visa adds to the logistics. I working on renewing my USA passport without passport no foreign travel. So maybe in the middle or far future. Answer to the second question: it is possible but pretty complicated. No direct flights you have to over China or Dubai. Meaning you have overlays and expansive. You can go over bordering Eastern European countries or the Tans but that means slow travel by car or train. You need a visa even for just one day visit which includes a pretty intrusive health screening. A lot of questions and possible suspicions on both Russian and USA ends. You cannot used your debit/credit cards. You need cash or crypto. Cash can easily be stolen crypto scammed and high fees.
