- In today's episode, we'll be taking a look at FIVE forgotten MTV shows from the 2000s. Including Celebrity Rap Superstar, You've Got a Friend, Trick It Out, Yo Momma, and Doggy Fizzle Televizzle.
Celebrity Rap Superstar was a show that paired up celebrities with established rappers, who would become their mentor in the world of hip-hop. The contestants were Kendra Wilkinson, Shar Jackson, Sebastian Bach from Skid Row, Perez Hilton, Countess Vaughn, Jason Wahler, Efren Ramirez, and Jamal Anderson. Their mentors were Redman, Bizarre, Bubba Sparxxx, Warren G, Tone Loc, Kurupt, Too Short, and MC Lyte. The show was hosted by Kevin Hart and Liz Hernandez, and judges included DMC, Da Brat, and Big Boy. "You've Got a Friend" was created by Ashton Kutcher after Punk'd made a big splash on MTV, and involved a contestant who would be paired up with an actor (Crista Flanagan from MadTV and Mad Men, Joe Hursley from Accepted, Terminator Sarah Connor Chronicles, Resident Evil: Extinction, Fast & Furious, CSI, and more) who pretended to be their best friend. The actor would torment the contestant, but if they made it for 48 hours they'd win $15000. "Trick It Out" aired during the peak of MTV's "Pimp My Ride", and revolved around two auto shops who were given the same vehicle and went up against eachother in an upgrade competition. The show was narrated by Sway Calloway in season one, and hosted by RJ De Vera (The Fast and the Furious) and Becky O'Donohue from American Idol. MTV's Yo Momma was created and hosted by Wilmer Valderrama from That 70s Show. The show revolved around trash talkers who competed against one another for a $1000 cash prize. Doggy Fizzle Televizzle was a sketch comedy show created by Vernon Chatman (South Park, Wonder Showzen, Renegade Angel) and John Lee (The Heart, She Holler). It was a variety show that was very similar to Chappelle's Show, but released a few years earlier. Snoop Dogg was the host and often performed in a concert at the end with Tha Snoopadelics. The series had several guest stars, including Jackass stars Steve-O and Wee-Man.

Thank you for watching 🫡
I have a list of about 20 other MTV shows that I want to cover, and I’m a big fan of these multi-topic videos so I’ll definitely make another entry in this series soon.
Shout out to all of the maniacs who upload old MTV shows to the internet. I listed all of my clip sources in the description 📼
Doggyfizzle didnt continue cus snoop sign a contract for $15,000 till season 3 and his team behind him got more than him so MTV finesse him while they made millions off the show
One thing you can say about MTV was that it tried literally everything. Not everything was good, but it was… different.
😂
Doggy Fizzle Televizzle while being probably too long of a name was classic
God damn I miss Doggy Fizzle Televizzle.
The transition into "somebody kill me please..." so good
The second I saw that clip, I knew it had to be done. Thank you 🙏
I love the nostalgia this channel brings 😍 and the music to boot 💯
I never missed an episode of Doggy Fizzle. MTV undoubtedly let a whale go by.
Some of the sketches are a bit dated but that’s understandable, otherwise it’s absolutely hilarious.
Yo Momma feels like a fever dream to me 😂. I used to like this show, but MY GOD did it get tiring while watching it though 💀
I feel the same exact way. I loved it when it first aired (but I was also 13 or 14 years old), but having to sit through a few episodes while putting this video together was exhausting.
You are 100% correct, “Yo Mama” was only funny in about 10% of the Jokes. However my mother who is older found about 40% of them funny and it was nice to watch it with her. Also their was one joke that actually made me laugh, like real laugh. The contestant said, “Your mom got 3 tongues and the talk like this, like this, like this” 😂🤣😂. I don’t know why that is so funny to me.
That Eric Andre edit with the dudes face and cutting him off saying "Chinese" might be the funniest thing i have seen in a long time.
Genius. Chef kiss.
I remember Yo Momma being a bigger deal than it was apparently.
I felt the same way, even though I sort of ragged on it. The energy of the show felt so big when it was on TV, but rewatching it as an adult was a totally different vibe.
it was pretty big I think your down playing it
Despite the lack of… well… quality that some of these shows had, it still sucks that so much of this is pretty much lost media.
Also, holy shit, your best friend is Snoop Dogg?? 😳😳
The only show in this video that you can still buy episodes of is “Yo Momma”, which is absolutely insane. And yes, I just had to give him some oregano and he agreed to contribute to the vid!
loved the video!
MTV had decent 2000s show .unlike teen mom and 16 and pregnant
I was shaped by Viva La Bam, Andy Milonakis, and Pimp My Ride - which explains my lack of intelligence 🥴
@@MediaPastimes pimp my ride was fake. I like dismissed next room raiders parental control exposed the blame game. I hate date my mom!
I subscribed because of the wedding singer edit over Kendra 😂😂
I remember this one mtv show that I've been wanting to see again but I can't think of the name. It was a sketch show and the only sketch I can recall was about a house party and they were all rapping about it. They kept going "party people in the house, what you gonna do?" And then a random party goer would reply. The main replies I remember are "clean out the refrigerator," "play with your moms vibrator," and "pee in the sink." If anyone could tell me the name of this, you'd be my best friend.
Doggy fizzle was hilarious
2:28 this made my day
Will you be doing a video about Bully Beatdown? I loved that show as well ha man these bring back good memories.
I have a massive list of shows I want to cover and that's absolutely one of them. Other than "Fantasy Factory", bully beatdown was one of the last shows I actively tuned in to MTV to watch. Stupid but fun.
@@MediaPastimes awesome I’ll be watching whatever you put out. Good luck on all your work.
Doggie fizzle was my show
1:48 that’s so fun lol imagine that but with a modern beat and face tats
4:27 This show has lived rent free in my head for like 20 years. I distinctly remember one episode that had two honda civics. One was bright orange and had a chess board pattern roof (that they pieces for), the other was silver and had a mercedes benz swapped front end. I sometimes wonder where those cars are now, if there's some dude in california that has a civic with a merc front from some tv show no one remembers.
There was a Honda Civic that had its front end swapped with that of a Nissan Silvia which was sold on an auction site back in like, 2013? But other than that I didn’t see any of the other cars from the show during my research. It actually looked pretty cool from the front, but the interior was horrible.
@@MediaPastimes Is that the yellow hatch? Because even by mid 2000s that interior is a bit out there. Puts 2Wyked to shame.
I never realised Snoop was so tall!! 🤯
Used to love Yo Momma
I hope a contestant on You've Got a Friend became friends with one of the actors 😂
100% only watched yo momma cause I was too lazy to grab the remote 😂😂😂
are you suicidal? most of those "reality tv shows" were crap. Dogg's was quite entertaining
The 80s and 90s will NEVER be topped. It all started in the 50s and culture just got more and more diverse, crazy and there was somethig new and fun every week on tv, in the charts and on screen.
Now its all the same, safe and politically charged
I am so happy i was born in 82.
Gen X had to make room for the millenials in the creative seats and in the audience, and the outlandish, obnoxious and the sometimes crude attitude had to make way for a more toned down approach.
Remember MTV fear that was a good show
Vernon Chapman is also a producer for southpark
So, I did watch Yo Mamma when it had episodes. The thing is I feel like the gimmick isnt strong enough for the length of an episode.
1000%. That's why they had to include the "digging up dirt" segment to pad out some time, but it fell so flat.
The show that comes to mind from this era is room 401
It’s on my list and will appear in a future installment 🫡
Plz talk about Final Fu next time
ASHTON KOOSHEER
7:38 Tahir Moore 😂😂
Yep! A lot of the contestants on "Yo Momma" were either stand-up comedians who auditioned during a casting call, or regular people responding to a casting call that went on to become stand-up comedians later.
I'm sure we've talked about this before, but do you remember Flava of love with Flava Flav? There's an episode where one of the female contestants pooped on his floor?
I caught a few episodes of it back in the day, but I don’t remember that scene 😅
@@MediaPastimes There it is lol ua-cam.com/video/WeOMwXquzIQ/v-deo.html
God, I forgot how brilliantly horrendous this show was 😂
I remember that. She even touched it and sniffed. Then ran upstairs to take a shower 🤣🤣🤣.
Yo Momma was pretty dam good...
Damn bro, you got a cameo from Snoop?! I hope you don't forget the little guys now that you've hit the mainstream 🙏
Wondershowzen was pretty funny!
Hi..anybody know where I can watch/download Yo momma show???...
I had to buy a few episodes of the show just to put clips of it in this video. They’re like $1.99 each on prime video or iTunes.
Was pants off dance off a fever dream or was it just me
That was on FUSE, and I totally didn’t watch it late at night as a teenager 👀
Didn't mention Snoop Dogg's "FatherHood" show! Guess that one's REAL forgotten 😅
That was on the E! channel so I felt it was unnecessary. If I were to mention every single project the man has worked on, this video would have been six hours long 😅
@@MediaPastimes Seriously? That was on E!? Damn. My Bad😅😅😅😅
Doggyfizzle didnt continue cus snoop sign a contract for $15,000 till season 3 and his team behind him got more than him so MTV finesse him while they made millions off the show
Lmao was that Snoop clip at the end AI or a cameo? I was shocked you didn’t include that show Battle for Ozzfest
He provided his voice for a text-to-speech site called "Speechify" which I used for that section, although I'd love to have Snoop on the channel for real. But that one is on my list if I ever make another entry for this series.
snoop dog asking a million per episode is just greedy. he should have done it for free considering he'd make way more than a million for each ep episode from royalties and sales and such
You've Got A Friend has not aged well, just yeahhh. Mental health is very important and having someone just walk into your life who is mentally unwell would not fly today
The contestant agrees to be on the show, they know what they’re in for.
@@MediaPastimes Point taken, that is facts
Here
Thank you for appeasing the algorithm overlord 🙏🏻
THIS! This is why MTV has gotten so assy. How the hell can you not afford to pay Snoop a million an episode. He's SNOOP GAHT-DAMN D-O-GIZZLE, and you're a cable network owned by a billion-dollar multimedia conglomerate! Stop frontin' and break that bread!
Couldn't agree more. Yet shows like Ridiculousness get 30 seasons and air for 20 hours a day...
Hey media would rather have a marathon of 16 and pregnant or a marathon of ridiculousness ?
What’s in it for me? If I were guaranteed $1 million I’d marathon them both over a 48 hour period with no breaks.
I agree with the similarities, but Snoop's show will never come close to the Chappelle show. Chappelle made the show what it is with his acting and comedy, and Snoop could never match that.
Oh yeah, Chappelle's Show is considered one of the best shows of the 2000s for a reason.
