Brah, I'm coming down when it warms up. I moved from the Big Island (Hawaii) and miss beach camping, bad. Now I know to head south. It's a long drive from Harker Heights but looks worth it. Great video. Hopefully you'll see me and my Frontier some day
My wife and I are headed down there this February. It will be our first time there. We have a tent trailer and a 4x4 truck. Where are the best places on the beach to camp for a few days.
We usually hit the mountains in New Mexico and Colorado so beach camping will be a change for sure. Just wanted to do it before spring break and summer hit.
Hey we live right on the island most of the time we stay in Isla Blanca Park and do a lot of shark fishing if you guys need more people to just go pick up trash let me know we look for a lot of sea turtles that are wrapped up in fishing nets and release them back but if you go into beach access 5 it’s 12 dollars to get in but the price is going to be going up to 14 but it’s really helpful for people who don’t have 4wd but they usually flatten out beach access 6 but it’s not often
I’m not too far from you guys. I bounce back and forth between Corpus and Falfurrias. I’ll keep an eye for more content. Maybe I can link up at some point. I don’t have too many buddies that are into this sort of thing but I got several rigs. I enjoyed this video. 👍🏽👍🏽
I just stumbled across your channel a few days ago. I really enjoy your videos. I’m from the RGV as well and a huge Toyota fan. I’m running a 2015 tundra on 33.5 nittos. I’ve been wanting to take her out to the east cut but haven’t had a chance.
Great video... I've been out to the cut several times and didn't think it was even an option to go West. Did you make it all the way across to the laguna? Also how far in was that "alleged sign" that you found broke? 😂
OverlandNomad thanks bro! I saw you guys filming and I literally told my girlfriend “just watch imma find that video on UA-cam later” 😂 but great video by the way! Keep it up!
My favorite months are nov-Feb. Avoid spring break and know that summer there will be alot of people but if you drive further north, you’ll get away from them
Well, you did need a 4wd at the entrance though, so it's better to be in a 4wd vehicle or like you mentioned be with someone that has a 4wd. Do you guys have some undercoating done to y'all trucks to help with preventing rust damages?
Awesome job. Thank you so much for the video and the clean up efforts. New subscriber and fellow UA-camr here. I hope to meet up with you guys on one of your adventures and maybe we can do a collaboration video. Kudos from McAllen.
I happy to see people clean up the Island. I grow up going to the Island and camping and 4 wheeling in my CJ-7. Always brought bags of trash back with us. We now live in Colorado and miss the Island. It great to see the your videos. It bring back many happy memories.
Stumbled across your video and really enjoyed it, originally from McAllen but know in Odessa TX. Keep up the great work. Currently putting my little rig together and hopefully attend one of your get together soon. Be blessed
that looks like a killer fishing spot. I'm heading down to padre next weekend, is this accessible in a 2wd tacoma? never mind, you explained this in the video, thanks!
Great work cleaning the beaches. I always make my kids clean our immediate area wherever we go, always leave it cleaner than when you came is my motto.
I've never been down there so I gotta ask. Could a guy make it to the rio grande with a 32ft camper and 3/4 ton 4x4 truck to camp at the mouth of the rio grande? I'd love to walk into Mexico cuz I've never been and think it would be cool to camp there in my camper
The only place you can do that I would think is Boca Chica State Park. I’m not sure if they still allow camping on the beachside anymore but you can check. I don’t know how comfortable I would feel camping feet away from the border, that would be up to you😬
At 22.11 you can see my white Tacoma on the natl seashore side! I just started following you 3 days ago and then this video popped up and it looked familiar haha! We’ll have to go wheelin together sometime!
Its john from san benito love what you guys did keeping the east cut clean . thats just super from you guys . love all 4x4 that went out there will do the same . hopefully in a weak ot two will be out there doing the same clean up came and fish. Tumps up . and love your videos.
Man I would love to camp out there. Wish i had buddies with 4wd trucks to go overlanding with shit i wish my 4th gen was 4wd so i wouldn’t be afraid to go alone lol
Hey buddy great video looks like a lot of fun out there! So where do you post about the meet ups? On Facebook? I’m in Austin TX I have a Toyota Tundra and would love to go to one of these with you guys.
Christian Pringle yeah David usually posts the events on his overlandnomad page on Facebook or Instagram. His Instagram is linked to his Facebook page so keep an eye out for the next event 👀
OverlandNomad lol cool thanks guys I’ll definitely keep an eye out for the next one. You guys planning a trip to the lone star Toyota jamboree this year at all?
awesome work brother, we're moving to SPI within the year and this is the type of attitude that has drawn us to the area...hope to get to meet everyone at some point and help with a clean-up...again, good on you for a positive video!
You are really good citizens and keepers of the SPI magnificent natural resource Thanks for your care and vid Tom S St. Louis MO Maybe SPI EC next Feb for a week!
Will be doing this on saturday with my 06 tj rubicon never been out there . I'm a little nervous but excited to go. Been offloading for a while now but never solo like I'm gonna be attempting this weekend. I hope all goes well.
You've got me hooked on the idea of a truck bed trailer for my jeep. I've looked some stuff up and people comment about how they may tow strange due to suspension or they are too heavy due to the axle. I'm looking at one similar to yours, it's an old toyota bed so I don't think the weight is bad. Is yours original axle? any feedback on the towing? I've seen you comment on the suspension on other videos when you tow your camper but I'd just be pulling the trailer with camping gear.
Hey man, glad yall cleaned up so much. I go to Matagorda often and always try to leave with a contractor bag of trash. There is just so much that washes up.
Is the Island on Shutdown? Are the beach accesses still open to go practice some “social distancing?” Just started following the channel all the way from ATX. Can’t wait to go back home to the RGV and stretch out the 4 wheel drive.
Great video and thank you and everyone for helping clean up that's AWESOME!!! Great job, wish I had seen this video before the wife and I could have gone to help out, hopefully next time we have the chance to do so. If I had 4 hands you would get 4 thumbs up!!!
That's a LOT of Toyotas ! Was that a burnt out Ford found on the side of the.... trail, stripped out ? Padre Island is definitely on my bucket list of places to visit, especially camping on the beach, fishing and cruising up and down the beach. Only drawback is I have a full-size Yukon and am considering trading that in for a smaller, more off-roading vehicle like those 4runners or a Jeep. Thanks for picking up all those trash , and I really love this kind of videos. Keep them coming.
Do you have a guide on how and where to go offroading/beach camping in S. Padre? Is there a good website for this? (I have a 100 series and want to camp overland style)
So on South Padre Island there isn’t much, just camping Access 5 and north. Like in this video, East Cut provides these little trails. But I highly recommend joining Texas Overland Facebook group. All the maps and info is right there
Awesome vid. I’m hoping to make my first trip out to the east cut in the next few days to spend a whole day of fishing out there. I usually make a trip to big bend 4 times a year, im not a very big beach person, but this area looks great! So maybe this will change my mind.
like your video I'm in Australia your beaches look a lot like our beaches in south Australia you should check out some of our UA-cam stuff we do a lot similar here
*I know I know, the audio was a bit messy with all the wind. Sorry about that everyone, getting a mic just for the GoPro!

Don't know if you have ever tried but....melted butter with soy sauce on corn is BOMB!! I discovered this when I was living in Japan.
Will try!!
Awesome stuff, great example to set. Just getting into overlanding. You just earned a subscriber!
Looks like a good time
The corn is a power move

Looks like a fun group
Dang,looks like fun...need to get me a 4×4
awesome! i'm down here near Harlingen, I've been wanting to find an overlanding club or something similar! great work in cleaning up the beach!
this is crazy, my friend is actually the owner of that white suv, he got stuck a long time ago!
Lol what?! He couldn’t get any help or what?
OverlandNomad i’m not sure, he just told me his engine didn’t start so he left it there, he says it’s full of bullet holes now

Anywhere along the side the beach. The further north away from tourists, the better
We usually hit the mountains in New Mexico and Colorado so beach camping will be a change for sure. Just wanted to do it before spring break and summer hit.

Great video! I recently bought a truck bed trailer, any recommendations as to what size rims and tires to bring it into the east cut?
Match it to the same size tire, rim, and bolt pattern as the vehicle pulling it so y’all can use each other’s tires.
Great service guys
Hell ya I see my truck there at the jetties!
Which one?
OverlandNomad the red truck with the shark rack with the yellow kayak !
