My First Walk with Forearm Crutches

- I was so excited to be able to go for a walk that I got a little carried away and went too far! Mobility aids can mean freedom for so many people. Forearm crutches make it possible for me to explore the outdoors, as well as providing stability, improving endurance, and reducing pain.
i just ordered a set because of you. I have trekking pole. A cane. A drive nitro rollator. Why? Options. All about location. But I will have bling them up a little. I will let you know.
Ger- that is so awesome! Thank you so much for telling me. Agreed, options are important for different days and places. Definitely let me know how you like the forearm crutches!
Everything will be fine sister. Courage ✊
Very good
What assisting devices have you tried? Which do you like best?
Hi Joe! I have used a cane, wheelchair, and the crutches. The wheelchair was great when I had general weakness/fatigue/instability, and the cane worked well for me when the issue was my right leg randomly giving in/weakness on the one side. But once it progressed and I lost even more control/function in the right side, and my left leg couldn't handle compensating for the right, the forearm crutches were a huge relief. 5 years later, the crutches still help so much with pain and fatiguing weakness.
So the forearm crutches have been the most helpful for me, but of course, each person's assistance needs will be different. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have more questions.
Good job
I really like the arm cruches

Curious, what disability you have? I have MS and walk pretty much the same as you. I use a cane sometimes, but arm crutches may be better.
I have an illness very similar to MS. Leg symptom wise, I have fatiguing weakness, struggle with control in my right leg, and have chronic nerve/muscle pain in both legs. I started out with a cane as well, then realized I needed more support as my legs grew progressively worse. The crutches help a lot with reducing pain and increasing endurance, stability, normalcy of movement, speed, and confidence. If you're interested, I have a video on forearm crutches, as well as a couple short blog posts on using mobility aids.
Hope that helps! Happy to answer more questions if you have any.
Hello, what is your disability - back, hip, knee, foot or other? best regards
Hi Harald! I have mobility issues in the right leg and chronic pain in both legs from a neurological disorder. If you're interested, I have shared more details on my blog www.disabledinthewild.com. Thanks for watching!
