  • THIS TUTORIAL SHOWS HOW TO EXPORT COMPLEX MODELS FROM 3DSMAX TO REVIT SOLVING THE PROBLEM OF VIEWING TRIANGLES EDGES. THIS IS VERY USEFULL FOR LAYOUT, RENDERING AND ENTOURAGE IN REVIT. THIS IS GREAT ALSO FOR PLANIFICATIONS AND FOR PROJECTING COMPLEX STRUCTURES CREATED IN OTHERS SOFTWARES, LIKE 3DSMAX AND AUTOCAD

I am using revit 2024 I've been trying to search for this kind of tutorial only to find in a 12 year old video. Amazing!

Clear and easy to follow. I had never opened 3dmax before and was able to move the object into revit. Thank you!

    Thanks a lot! It's a great method!
I achive ability to make shorter operations!
If we klick to object properties in 3ds max and push "by layer", we can avoid autocad stage in this method!

Thank you Pedro for this precious trick! I was trying to do this before but, when 3dsMax asked me which DXF version to export, I was hitting Ok automatically and it wasn't working. The DXF version must be 2007 in order to be successful in exporting whithout edges!

This video is uploaded in 2011, I found this in 2020.
You're a very advanced architect in Brazil, sir.
I'm in Thailand, praticing 3D design as an architect as well.
As I'm learning to link multiple design 3D modelling together, this video shows.
It'd be very very advanced content if you can explain about the format used best between these programmes - 3DS Max, AutoCAD 3D, and Revit.
I searched some tutorial and see that .FBX format can be used between Revit and 3DS Max.
    Thanks for sharing

This seems to have stopped working with autodesk 2018 onwards... Edit: I figured it out played with the export settings and on the geometry options the convert instances to blocks must be unticked

Great tutorial! However I have been having some problems - mainly the polygons in Autocad are not smooth. You can only see facets, and these facetes transfer to Revit. In line display these are not a problem, but it is annoying to see the facetes in the renders. Can anyone please tell me what to do about these visible facets?

    • @YDwithTVXQ
      @YDwithTVXQ 8 років тому

OK finally I figured it out, the material shows in "Object Styles"is not the exact material attached to the mesh, you should go to "material" and look for the true one.

Hi! Can you explain this further... I am having the same issue. All of the models have converted beautifully as per the video tutorial, but when I set the material in object styles nothing happens its al grey. I have a LARGE amount of models I have converted using this tutorial for my thesis project. PLEASE can you help me? I dont know what you mean by looking for the true one. I need exact steps. PLEASE, I defend in 3 weeks and I need to figure this out before then,
      THANK YOU

It seems that Revit can only recognize each part of one model by the color of the wireframe, for example, if the color of the wings' wireframe is red, then after you importing the plane model into Revit, go to the "manage" menu, find the "material"(next to the "Object Styles"), then look for the red one, it may be the true wings(you can change the color in the right area to see if it is the right part you are looking for).
