"Delivery" - Sci-Fi Thriller Short Film
Вставка
- Опубліковано 1 жов 2024
- This short sci-fi thriller, inspired by media like Black Mirror, tackles questions of AI and data collection in a not-so-distant and frighteningly plausible future. Grace, an unemployed college graduate and loyal customer of the Z-Box subscription service, is lured into the depths of a system that she quickly discovers is far over her head. How can you escape something that you've already given permission to track your every move?
Film made by Ryan Mayhan for his thesis in Digital Art and Media Production at Hamilton College.
Are we to assume that she is delivering organs ?
That's an half an hour I'll never get back.
Still trying to figure that one out. Glad I'm not the only one.
Same
I think you are right
Yep.
It was kinda vague, but the leaky package was a clue...
Hello filmmaker neighbor, saw your video on the suggested list on my short sci-fi film and thought I take a look at your film. I thought the was pretty cool. The music and the mood is fantastic and I think you really did and get job creating this future world with the simple but effective production design. Really did feel like Black Mirror, great job!
Her car's trunk is air conditioned to 62 degrees?
This has the Hallmarks of a really good thriller and the Actors, were Brilliant. Thank you All for a great film.
Good story! The lady with the wavy brown hair looks like a young Susan Sarandon. Very striking!
Should have gone to _'Specsavers'._
Smh.
very well done - that's where we're headed unless we stop them soon
I get really frustrated with having a large flat screen, with high quality , high resolution viewing and then half of every single show is filmed in near darkness and difficult to see! Might as well be using a 1950s B&W tv to view.
This is almost exactly how spies get their “assets” to do their work for them.
Great work! This would make an outstanding Black Mirror episode.
Here we go again! Half darkness, unnecessary swearing, and a person who is reluctant to do something but does it anyway because they’re so account dependent. She should’ve said no.
Swearing is a sign of intelligence. It's no wonder some are opposed to it. 😉
@@TheWanderingFinnegan Overswearing isn’t a sign of intelligence. It’s a lack of vocabulary. There’s a serious problem when swearing is called a sign of intelligence. It’s like saying school shootings are normal. It’s not. Just because you can do it doesn’t make it right.
Delivering only at night. Doesn’t feel kosher to me.
Weak. Editing needed to be tightened WAY up. Story needed a much stronger ending. Acting was mediocre unfortunately. The vast majority of shorts here on YT are close.. but no cigars yet.
It needs to be at 62 degrees in the car but not while it's outside waiting for her to pick it up or on their porch steps? Lol probably blood drinkers or children's body parts lol
Sure, screenwriters don't think about basic logic, they only think about suspense
I'm willing to wager these actors are Canadian........
Creepy stuff right there! Great short film. I could see this developing into a larger project quite easily. Thanks for sharing!
LOL... Using a guitar effects pedal with red tape is bloody hilarious.
I had better read over my Amazon Prime contract . . .
I get the feeling if she were told to jump off a 10 story building she would?
This feeds into the paranoia of privacy invasion by entities we have given our uninformed consent to via an unread EULA, a good plot for a horror film, however the voice of the AI was loud and raucous, and it was unpleasant to listen to and distracting. The acting was a bit stiff and seemed forced, and the profanity felt like it had been used to crowbar emotional content.
That's why I dont use a number of services, Facebook, Twitter ect..
*etc.
Short for _et cetera_

So what to do about the pkg on my steps that I did not order from Amaz-o-n ???/........it's been sitting there for 2days [post my watching dis'SHoRT] just not sure wht to do with it now !>!.>??
oH, also last month I got this pkg of SEEDS in the mail from C H I N A hmmmmmm............../;^)
Great story-line, over all really enjoyed.......this works !!
Thank you !
#AlwaysForward #Godspeed
This is a great short film. I really enjoyed it. I was hooked from the beginning and couldn't stop watching. I feel this film is pointe, given how convenient everything has become nowadays. Bravo to the cast and crew. They did a great job with this
I was thinking organs but even lungs to be viable for transplant needs to be atleast 50 degrees Fahrenheit not 60 🤷♀️ than Im guessing she was the one who delivered to her friend at the end
What a wasted 29 minutes of my life. Acting was mediocre. Sorry, but this was a sorry film.
Very original movie, starts from the familiar and leads to the unexpected. The dialog was simple enough for the autocaptioning to do a good job.
I don't get it. What was she delivering! What was in the box she opened that disgusted/frightened her?
It scared the heck OUTTA us! GOOD JOB!
Yes, a video of cannibalism. Many people have it.
Well done 👍🏻
I had this job from Z Box a couple years ago. Boring. There were fresh raw chicken carcasses inside. Sometimes also human body parts
That was better than most of the dust vids I watched and on par with the best ones! Amazing work ty I look forward to more and your growths aha
First of all its not scifi, but some paranormal thriller . Secondly, the plot is unfortunately not convincing and theres no clarity as to whats going on. It raised some curiosity but failed to provide any answers. And therefore all that development was too long, unnecessary. And that "we can see all" , "we control all your devices" and "we are everywhere" was just ridiculous. And no sane person would have agreed for such a job. Well, a big letdown. I expected scifi, but instead got a paranormal horror mystery with plotholes. Sorry, didnt like at all.
Ryan Mayhan…I’ll remember that name so as not to bother even opening his videos. Disappointingly a disgusting waste of time 👎🏽10x .
Zbox not only collected consumer based data; it also had access to the extent of her (limited) social engagement and to the fact that she needed a job, and possibly, if the last customer was her friend Brook, her precise social circle. Excellent acting. Foreboding content. Great job!
As soon as she started to open that case, I'm done I'm out of here. You know nothing good is gonna happen.
Loved it! 😍🎬 Your film is a masterpiece! 🌟 What was your favorite scene to shoot?
So very awesome 😎
I could talk about this 4 hours
Thank you for creating such a masterpiece.
Finally, Amazon took over. Algorithm rules. Who is afraid of SkyNet anymore?
There were simply NOT enough giantic red flags for here to hang up and say "fuck that"
😅
Well done all around film. Still wondering what it was she was delivering. Looked like blood oozing out of the case she damaged. Might want to read the terms of use before accepting. But who does that? Also, don't get careless when making deliveries.
Read once a user agreement which had, in the middle, a line saying the first person to call in with a password would receive a hundred dollars. They had something like twenty thousand agreements before someone got the money.
@@thomasmazanec9704 nice. I want a short movie about it, but with more significant money prize
Really had promise to it...collab w/someone and get bk to us on the remake!
Make a sequel
Nah….Deactivate my Z account, I’m good.
This make me want to read all those agreements I never read! Lol
More please
Black Mirror would have made a good one from this ….
What was in the boxs that made her freak on stairs it looked like a sock when she drove off in a panic
Why didn't the ZBox crowd just deliver those packages by drone as well. Can't see why they needed the girl to do it.
Delivery of the packages is not the point. ZBox was testing the population in order to find the individuals who are stupid/programmable. The GOP does this daily.
@@lostcat9lives322haha. What politics do to terminally online person
Had she possessed just half a brain she'd have figured out that failing to deliver the packages, then claiming she gets easily confused/distracted, would have resulted in her not being given the job again, plus she'd still maintain her account.
I take it, due to budgetary constraints, that the lighting bills could only be sporadically paid?
And why adjust the vehicle temperature, only to put the attache case in the boot?
Even weirder?
Calls her friend in the middle of the night, they have a snack and beers, while watching a movie, yet her friend doesn't think to ask why she had to get out of bed and come over, she has to watch a movie first?
The friend, being her replacement, was all too predictable.
I'd have prefered her friend had been in on it, maybe even being the one to have suggested her as a candidate.
Overall, not too shabby, however, poor lighting and stilted acting, at times, detracted from it.
This is why women need men.
Gotta agree with every word here, mate
STOP TRYING TO BE LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. DO WHAT FEELS RIGHT.
Anyone could just throw the f-ng thing out the door.
👍👍 that's original
Bloody Excellent. ... Wow ...
What a great concept
In my other post I mentioned→ "a pkg of seeds I found in my mail box from C H I N A " .....could be an excellent real-life creep-o-reality gone wrong.......very very WaY WRoNG sequel !!!
lmao
No charge /;^)
I made better films in high school
I'm disappointed in you z box
So, they cut off / mutilated her face?
This movie is awesome, 10 out of 10
deactivate and GOOD BYE!
Still loving Amazon?????????
China have been doing it for a long time
New name " Green Doors".
Well done, you. All boxes ticked in 19 minutes. Hollywood should be so fat-free. Thank you.
PS/ I thought I recognized Jeff Bezos in there.
Well done Sir, it had me glued to the screen. Very daunting that it is probably where we are heading not too far from now. People think that all this technology makes life easy, no, its giving them control. Great atmosphere and photography.
The Kafka question to God - Why are you doing this to me? --- of course we have no way of understanding even if there was ever a response because our understanding is baked into the inability to understand at this point in this existence in this state of consciousness. ------ you love a puppy - you hold the puppy - and you explain to the puppy that there are things in this universe called black holes - you share what you know in a loving caring way for hours and at the end of all that - the puppy poops on your rug when you put him down. The woman asked too many questions and paid the price - much like humans who die from too many questions - instead of just living a nontoxic life of compassion kindness and patience. Centered in a loving state so they eat right - do not get cancers and do not develop heart problems and become the picture of what you see when you look up Use less Eater in the dictionary. Mostly lost to the pursuit of capitalistic parasitical cannibalism.
I liked the way the movie was filmed - the lighting and the pace even if the script blew chunks. thank you.
Amazon is getting suggestions
Awesome! I’d love to see more of this story! 🖤
Always read the small print 🙃 but really, most scary or creepy thing is that it's not far fetched if ppl wont wake the heck up
that sucked
E un film destul de reușit.
So creepy
New subscriber here. I wanted to let you know that this video was in my suggested list and I really enjoyed it. Loved the drone shots!
Loved the concept, but it's the second time I see a guitar pedal being used as a prop in a sci-fi short. The other one was a tuner that was playing the role of a time machine lol. Anyway, great story and acting, and very entertaining. Congrats!
Awful...
Bit longer than I am used to on DUST but UA-cam suggested this. Love how they know what I like…I really am living in the future!
Three minutes in and looks like WEF commercial,,,,🤮
definitely feels like an episode of black mirror, and I mean that respectfully.
This was great
It git weirder when they were watching their movie and the background music was from the UA-cam Grenfeld Tower fire
I don’t hear any car thingy that tells directions. She must know the neighborhood real good to know where to go.
Surprisingly good actors for a what seems to be a student film. It was very interesting, and it does leave one wanting to know more about that world. Good job!
So it was exactly 62° outside 🤔
Are we to presume the deliveries are to vampires?
The real horror here is the "EULA". We all just tick them automatically to save time.
Love this 🔥 I thought they were organs
... come over... I'm in bed...I just need you to come over.
Then next scene is watching movie and didn't tell friend why she really needed friend to come over. 🤔
Odd transition and not the direction I expected it to go. i guess that was to help keep it a movie short. Otherwise, a decent bit to watch. 😉
Haven't you ever had a friend like that? I am that friend. Someone needs me, I'm there. I don't ask and sometimes they don't tell.
That's straight up some Mike Myers shit right there.
