this game has such a good idea for a sequel, first game you focus on a single colony and survival, now in the second one you already survived and estabilished a functional city so now it's time to expand further beyond.
The idea is good, but I think the execution was not what I expected. They replaced all the mechanics that made the original FP fun with this scaled version that doesn't look immersive or challenging. With games such as Manor Lords where you have to micro manage and battle to survive I don't think I will be playing FP2. It's a shame it had a great potential.
I hope they add war missions in the new game. It be interesting to see many more cities. And some you as the player have to fight. Maybe make them into an outpost, or for resources. Or just to add more cities to make an empire. So many ideas this can go with.
The larger scale management makes sense, since in the original while it was cool to watch individual people going about their business, at the end of the day they were still just numbers to slot somewhere
I miss the individual people, the large scale of this hasn’t been enjoyable to play. I hope they can improve it but so far the beta hasn’t impressed me.
@@czwhat328I actually like this formula, but I guess this is not for everyone. For me all that maters is that the game is fun, the rest I am realy not picky.
Looks promising, but I don't like how the UI looks. = snow + white UI is not a good combination = too much white. + those glowing lines, I don't like them, otherwise a very interesting game. the first game is one of my favorite games. Great Video !
A lot of new features and reworks of old ones to improve them, Frostpunk 2 is looking better already, thank you Nivarias for the video and hope you keep shwing more of this game
Hi. interesting how they came up with it this time. somehow it's all fast and I miss the comfort like in the first part. I will definitely watch until the end, I just have to get the hang of it....
This was a surprise!! Game looks great and I'm sure so many are ready to see it come out of Beta and be fully ready to play. Very interesting how they do districts now. I think I like that! Great surprise for us this afternoon with you sneaking this video in 🤩
In the trees you have two options because you have two factions to start. Each want it done their way so to speak. Doing it for one will not make the other happy.
sincerely hoping that at least they change Art Direction till release... We go from Finest SteamPunkish Apocalypse to something mutated from the baby that CitySkyles and Assassins Creed gave birth....
I was hoping 11bit wasn't drinking their own kool-aid but man was I wrong. Is building placement and designing a city not an extremely satisfying core element to this genre? Now I get to mouse paint a giant snow circle with little versions of the flash buzzing around it. Don't reinvent the wheel after success stick to what made you successful. I want more Froat Punk 1 dlc please!
I'm not entirely sure, but Frostpunk 2 doesn't seem to have the same level of engagement as its predecessor. There's something about the tile buildings and animations that feels off, and it seems like there are no longer any of those small encounters or animations that made the first game so memorable. As a result, it may end up feeling like just another building game rather than a true sequel to Frostpunk. Feeling a bit sad
I believe that thats an oxydized copper (not paint). Which would be fitting for the time period. Then again I do agree that it can look somewhat weird in the contrast.
24:12 yeah the Icebloods may sound like a hardy people and they say they support tradionalist way or smth. I mean look man, i dunno what traditionalist is in Frostpunk world, but i sure as hell not wearing a clothes in Endless winter is not a traditional way at all. The Icebloods may sound like Conservative 'Traditionalist'. But if i have to bet if you go full Authoritarian and picked Icebloods as your main party when the gamebis fully came out. I bet the city gonna gone full Darwinist mode.
Love the new graphics, new interactions, new objectives, new mechanics. Do not like that roads automatically appear when building district, do not like the tile structure, people running like the flash even in normal speed. Overall game feels modern, but soulless... Buildings appears to be modern - but generic compaired to Frostpunk 1. I understand that the player is now managing a whole city, and not a small society, but it feels like the connection between the player and the game is lost.
don't love it that i can't build most buildings outside of districts. like depot what if resources run out and i need to dismantle the district. food resources expired just as the beta ended after 5-6 years of play. you also don't have alot of option to bring resources from out side and i invested heavily into exploration
Am I the only one feeling like FP2 is looking more of a political strategy game rather than being a survival focused game. It gave me civilization vibes and I can't say i like the political aspect of it. With this preview I can definitely say it is not a day 1 purchase for me.
The devs had made it very clear frost punk two was going to be much more about politics and laws than the winter as that’s the direction they wanted to take the story as frost punk one was about learning to survive the winter.
I really love the larger sense of scale the game has aswell as the political system compared to the first frostpunk you arent just trying to survive in frostpunk 2 but thrive and rebuild society which also comes with politics but they do seem easily manipulates in the players favor (its also just a early acess beta/preview of a part of the sandbox and things might still change by the time the game gets released)
I dont know... Frostpunk 2 seems interesting and on the other hand its way too different from the first one. Also I feel like theres a missed opportunity here. Remember how in Frostpunk you had the choice between faith and order? Its a shame there isnt something like "choose your origin" in two that gives you the choice between the two. It would make sense. Oh well.
Very disappointed with the people changes. Seeing "trails" as people move around the district at super-speed isn't helping suspend my disbelief.. at all. It's actually really silly and a deal-breaker for me personally. Manor Lords will be the way forward and I'll play the original FP during the winter months.
I'm not a big fan of the UI, it looks way too modern. Don't like the zooming people in 1x speed, I understand that it skips days not hours anymore, but still. Like the District system, it feels like a huge wow factor. The Political system, I'm not so sure. Boiling down the game to pleasing 2-8 factions at the same time is frustrating. Because if the writing stay similar to the Frostpunk 1 they will be the most ungrateful sacks of frost shit known to man, without any huge benefit other than game over won't happen, all that bitching and moaning about every decision is like opening a Reddit and asking an opinion. Also like that, resource management is more predictable
First impressions review. 6/10. The original game was dark and edgy. What I expected was to be dropped off in an ice cave with a box of matches in FP2. What we seem to be getting is a paint by the numbers city builder with a steampunk theme that has thrown out all the design choices that made you feel like you were actually going to die if your city failed. This has nice artwork, but its way too bright. The demo should have been something dark and grim imo and hard to see through a blizzard. There are tonnes of city builders on the market, so why would you play this? I think I'll pass until I see something epic.
A lot of people who play this have said that this is a lot harder than frost punk 1. Now yes it does not have the feeling of a small community huddling together anymore but honestly I’m ok with that. That’s what frost punk 1 needed to be, frost punk 2 is much more focused on a different idea a different threat. Human disagreement. And not just a small scale one like the londoners but large scale fighting against thousands of people wants over other people’s wants. The game isn’t just more frost punk 1 and honestly, I’m ok with that. It wants to be something different, to tell a different story.
As much as the bigger scale is cool I miss the ability to see the individual going about their day through out the city. And the white ui is too bright
Idk, frostpunk 2......feels off. I cant put my finger on it, but its just not hitting me like the first game. It just feels like a completely different game and worse off for it.
Personally I’m a fan of where they are taking this. Don’t get me wrong I love the first game. But this one just seems a lot more like what they originally envisioned frost punk to be. A game about fighting against the winter and internal turmoil in the city and making the best decisions that you can. What I like about this is that the game is much less in your control. Your laws, decisions, promises, all having much greater costs. This game is not frost punk 2 I would say though. This is a game that is trying to expand on the central ideas of frost punk and be something different. Which is why I think there is the weariness of it. I’m excited for this game but it isn’t what frost punk 1 was. And I’m ok with that, in fact I’m excited for it.
I didn't like the direction this game went at all. They replaced everything that worked and made the first game fun with a scaled non-immersive version of it. It's a hard pass for me specially having something like Manor Lords to compete with
I think the UI sucks. Spread out everywhere, no timers on things with cool downs, no notifications or sounds when explorations are done. Nothing close to as good as OG Frostpunk.
Played the beta, this is not a good game and certainly doesn't have any of the elements that made the first one so unique and engaging. Such a shame...
