This, unfortunately, shows how dumb the Astartes are. The UNQUESTIONABLE successes of this unsupported, deep penetration, covert operations SMU - the War Orphans - should've taught the chapters an invaluable lesson. Small units, and even entire chapters, should've been created that were purely fusions of multiple chapters, like this one, dedicated to special operations, and unconventional warfare. I can only hope Nykona Sharrowkyn is still alive, and successfully conducting operations from the Shadows, where he belongs. Great units like the Raven Guard need great heroes, like him, and I can only wonder what kind of oaths of moment this man was involved in. When Corvus Corax returns, these are the kinds of sons he should be greeted by, to show him it was all worth it.
While I do understand that you are referring too the heresy timeframe and not the latter 10'000 years, but they did create the deathwatch during the war of the beast about 1'500 years later, just you know...they only hunt xenos for some reason
Ironically Guilliman himself says the same thing in one of the more recent Indomitus era novels. He actually says its stupid that the legions were more or less one specialization instead of a mix from all the lineages allowing them to be all rounded military units. It would also probably have prevented the heresy from taking route so easily.

Sharrowkyn being in the vague spot of either being Mor Deythan for his marksmanship and shadow walk. Or being a Moritat for being an expert solo commando while showing his distinct cold blooded nature killing Lucius. I agree. The ease at which he shut Lucius down is indicative that the true best of the best turns out not to be one of duelists that everyone attributes with being the best and debate over who it truly is. Nope, the best was too humble to show off. Lucius didn't even know who he was. He even laughed in shock of how good sharrowkyn was and he didnt even know who he was. Sharrowkyn was the only astartes who was trained in melee combat by his primarch. No other primarch ever gave that kind of attention to his astartes. I'd like to believe that he is with Corax, searching for Russ in the Warp.
For a long time I've been looking for a video about Sharrowkyn. You've created a fantastic homage to him. I love how he made Lucious look inept at hand to hand/swordsmanship. It'd have been an amazing story if Sharrowkyn ever met up with and sparred Sigismund (friendly, of course!).

Why was Lucius touted as a good swordsman? He's been beaten by so many others. Yeah, sure, his devotion to Slanessh lets him respawn and all, but isn't Slannesh NOT happy that he losses so often?
Lucius was touted as a good swordsman due to his Legions' desire for perfection, every member of the legion would focus on one thing and hone it constantly. Lucius focused on his swordsmanship to the point where only Fulgrim is his peer. His blessing from Slaanesh is more of a curse if anything on Lucius's opponents; those who feel any positive sensation after killing him, even so much as a grin that they'll become Lucius.
@@sethclark6593 But that just makes it worse. Because if Lucius is second to Fulgrim in skill, and Lucius has been bested by SEVERAL talented swordsman who DIDN'T feel any pride when killing him, then is Fulgrim any good? Last I checked, he got schooled by Dorn, and all he did was bring a shield.
@@magnum32b Lucius is a deluded mf with bigger delusions of being the best swordsman hence a hefty dose of narcissism which is why The Entity of Excess backs hom
Can't believe I missed this. I've always seen most of the Raven guard as consummate professionals. For Nykonna killing Lucius and almost killing Fulgrim I am reminded of the words of the Emperor. "'Some men demand such pomp. They cannot accept the end of one era and the commencement of another without an occasion by which to mark it and give it meaning. Laurels must be given, honours and fair titles invented so that they may be bestowed upon favoured generals. Some men need recognition.' The shadows around the Emperor's throne deepened. But beneath the layers of obfuscation, deep within the myriad guises of that singularly unfathomable being, the Lion felt the Emperor behold His firstborn son. 'Some men,' the Emperor continued, 'do not."
10:30 How many times does something in Warhammer need to "move faster than a mortal man should be able to move" before they accept that mortal men can move that fast lol. Swear to the emperor, the line is in every book at least once
We still have two more volumes coming out for the finale of the Siege of Terra. Perhaps Nykona’s story after hiding away will be addressed? He is still in the Sol system after all.
I like the idea of having an amalgamation of the legions. Each primarch leads a legion but it's gene stock is varied amongst all the brothers. I wonder how corax would have used world eaters or iron warriors and I wonder how fulgrim would have used raven guard. And it would have been harder for a while legion to band together in treachery since all have different stocks. Praise the emperor
Just one small thing Waylon said in that story that "Its my own design" for the storm eagle He altered it himself, so he couldnt have comendeered it. They even commented about hopefully the Mechanicus would pick up Waylons design
The curse only works if the person who kills Lucius takes pride in it. Sharrowkyn looked at killing Lucius like he was putting down a rabid dog feeling no pride in the kill but as granting mercy
@@gagenelson8231 Also Lucius had not gained the curse yet. Until after Fabius revived him and Lucius pledged himself to Slaanesh. Though Slaanesh curse on him seems like a callback to how he died with his opponent taking no glory in his death.
If he killed Lucius doesn't that mean he would become Lucius eventually? Sadly, I think that was Nykona Sharrowkyn's tragic faith unless I have missed something
No brother Sharrowkin is one of few individuals to kill Lucius without inflicted by Slanesh curse. Because he not take pride of killing Lucius, because just like video said Sharrowkin only see Lucius as Rabid dog to be put down. Thus Slanesh curse not inflected to Sharrowkin. So why Lucius can survive after being killed by Sharrowkin ? Because after his death in the hand of Sharrowkin, Lucius was resuracted by Bael the Apothecary of Emperor Children Twice, because Sharrowkin kill Lucius Twice
It would have been so cool if the survivors of istvaan 5 eventually formed a chapter comprised of the 3 legions. Could create some great stories and a very unique and powerful chapter.

How many times does something in Warhammer need to "move faster than a mortal man should be able to move" before they accept that mortal men can move that fast lol.
Swear to the emperor, the line is in every book at least once
i would love the alternative story where Nykona ended up on terra and founds the assasinarium. teaching humans the art of stealth and shadowwalk.
We still have two more volumes coming out for the finale of the Siege of Terra. Perhaps Nykona’s story after hiding away will be addressed? He is still in the Sol system after all.
I absolutely loved the book angel exterminatus I might read it again
Now that's a Chad right there
What a Chad. Fabius stole him the almost impossible task to complete, a SM killing a Primarch.
Beating Lucius 1v1 is a monumental feat
A Beast. a Legend
Fabius Bile, Cypher and some frw others are priority targets to be not simply killed but obliterated.
Imagine a Damned that can move and have all his skill set terrorize a warband of Chaos
Wow now I need to read the book
Just one small thing
Waylon said in that story that "Its my own design" for the storm eagle
He altered it himself, so he couldnt have comendeered it.
They even commented about hopefully the Mechanicus would pick up Waylons design
Finnaly my request lol
Lucius get skill issue'd by Nykona
The War Orpahns badass order
Is Aeonid theil on your list by any chance? He doesn't get enough love
Love it
absolute goat
And why doesn’t this fella have a model at least? Must be because he’s not an Ultramarine or Space Wolf or Blood Angel.
Hope he gets a model in heresy

WHAT IS THE NAME OF THAT SONG
Space Marine - Hero's Legacy.
Since he killed Lucius - doesn't that mean he got cursed as well and eventually turned into him?
The curse only works if the person who kills Lucius takes pride in it. Sharrowkyn looked at killing Lucius like he was putting down a rabid dog feeling no pride in the kill but as granting mercy
@@gagenelson8231 Also Lucius had not gained the curse yet. Until after Fabius revived him and Lucius pledged himself to Slaanesh.
Though Slaanesh curse on him seems like a callback to how he died with his opponent taking no glory in his death.
More raven guard!
🔥🖤🔥
Sooo, why did not Sharrowkyn become lucious?
Edit: ah he didnt take pride in the killing.
Is sharrowkyn still Mia as of this time ?
So could he possible still be alive in the warp?
Or... Cawl put him in ice likemost of the Primaris.
And has a sign on his pod saying "in case of emergency break glass"
Man, I love Raven Guard.
If he killed Lucius doesn't that mean he would become Lucius eventually? Sadly, I think that was Nykona Sharrowkyn's tragic faith unless I have missed something
He did not perish, for he felt no satisfaction in the kill.
Without a doubt my favorite Raven Guard
Boop the toad
He took no pleasure in Lucius' death. Lucky for him eh? lol
he shot fulgrim into his temple, not the eye. nonetheless neat little vid again.
4:35 "breath air" weylan tate
Shouldn't he have been possessed by Lucius?
No brother Sharrowkin is one of few individuals to kill Lucius without inflicted by Slanesh curse. Because he not take pride of killing Lucius, because just like video said Sharrowkin only see Lucius as Rabid dog to be put down. Thus Slanesh curse not inflected to Sharrowkin. So why Lucius can survive after being killed by Sharrowkin ? Because after his death in the hand of Sharrowkin, Lucius was resuracted by Bael the Apothecary of Emperor Children Twice, because Sharrowkin kill Lucius Twice
interesting recap of the 40k wiki
It would have been so cool if the survivors of istvaan 5 eventually formed a chapter comprised of the 3 legions. Could create some great stories and a very unique and powerful chapter.
