I really enjoyed this video. I always laugh when people are hard on this keyboard because it’s not analogue (with something along the lines of big fat low end) and then those same people will choke the song with compression and reverb and delays layer upon layer and then kill the low end on the eq to fit it into their song - so the analogue greatness goes out the window. You stacked four sounds and it sounded absolutely huge! If making a true analogue poly was the be all and end all the korg prologue would be the best selling keyboard year upon year

Hi Mr. Tuna ! Was wondering : is there any difference between the Jupiter-X and the Juno-X looking at the keybed or are they exactly the same ? I know the keybed of the Jupiter-X feels premium, but what about the Juno ? Thanks for the feedback. Great channel by the way !
HI @mr tuna music. Thanks for this demo. It really helps solidify my pre-order. 😀 I'm still just getting my ducks in a. row. I'm a performing (and original) musician, and this will be replacing my Nord Stage 3. So what I'm curious to better understand are a few things (if you want my questions your upcoming demos, as you mentioned.) I haven't owned a Roland Synth since my ORIGINAL Juno 106...bought summer of '84, was stolen out of my car. I still hurt to this day ha. My question (or questions): Does the Roland cloud, or the zencore library allow me to source very traditional sounds and load them into the Juno X? The reason is some of my songs contain say an old Vox organ sound or an old wurli, , a glockenspiel, brass section, sounds that I developed on my current (and quite possibly soon to be sold) Nord. The initial and pressing issue for me will be re-imagining/translating/converting my current sounds onto the new synth, and hopefully getting as close to many of them as possible. Given that I don't know much about this environment (zencore/roland cloud)...do you foresee me struggling to translate my current sounds within the Juno? Or will it be pretty (optimistically) seamless? I don't mind taking the time to work and design the sound. Just wanting to know if there are base tones that I can start with that help me get there. I did a quick review of the Juno X's sound list, and well, it's just words at this point but I feel like I have a good shot. just wondering how it's done (for example, someone below mentioned importing Jupiter sounds into the Juno). So that sort of thing; do libraries exist that might have more classic tones? I look at this as an evolution, so I understand this thing will be undoubtedly different than the Nord. I just hope I don't lose entirely the sounds I have and can emulate and get at least most of the way there sonically. Thanks for your help!
The roland cloud has all the original factory presets from the original synths in their legendary series, so you should have lots to choose from there! the juno has a very very straightforward interface so any sounds you have to tweak or recreate on your own should be very easy too ill do some more videos on the sounds!
Hi, I have a question: When choosing a Model/ Engine, besides Juno-x, Juno-106, XV5080, etc. you can choose PR-A/ PR-B ... PR-X, and Common. What are those and what is the difference? Also, the waveforms are divided into ID-A, ID-B, etc. Is there any particular reason for that? I can not see any logic behind those groups and that gives me sleepless nights...😝

Hi, could you make a video about Vocoder of Juno X ? Any difference with jupiter x’s vocoder? Because in Juno-X they announce vocoder like a model expansion. So my expactation is increased. Last question jupiter x/xm doesnt support condenser mic if remember correctly. You told in this video , juno-x gives Phantom power, can i use Shure sm-35 xlr condenser headset mic with Juno-X ??? Thank you great video as well.
I will see if i can make something up but it is literally the same as the vocoder from the JPX... exact same presets and everything.... you can download the roland vocal-designer which comes with many many more variations and sounds but thats an extra add on for both the JPX and the JunoX
Thank you for this demo. The sound is killer! Can you share the internal memory size? I’d like to know if I will be able to buy and install various model expansions without deleting and sacrificing too much space. In that respect, the Fantom 0 is quite limited, and I’m still hesitating between the two. Thanks for your help!
Great demo on the Juno X, Sounds real close to me, and those layer features are killer! Does the after touch require a lot of pressure? My XP-30 just has a real expressive light after touch and the Fantoms require a lot of pressure.
Youre not the first person to ask me that--- As a comparison I always use my JP80 which I feel has the best aftertouch response in my studio..... This seems very similar, but it also seems similiar to the JPX (I mean its probably the same keybed) and people have been saying they find the repsonse to be heavy on the JPX. I found it to be good.
Not a very good one it comes down to-- it’s just a yorkville 2 tier stand…. I’ve got a nice Hercules z stand that my prophets are on that I should really be using
Its the second layer with a much slower attack setting, so you hear the 1st synth come in and then the 2nd takes a lot longer and slower and it feels like that cool echo effect!
Will the new upgraded Jupiter-x model and juno-x model be available for Fantom. Or also can the juno-x grab the new jupiter-x enhanced version 3 and vice versa?
That is one question I dont know! I understand all the vintage models will definitely be available, but they might keep the proprietary 'X' models to their own synths respectively.
Can you do a feature comparison to the Jupiter-x? I’m really confused because it seems everything the Jupiter can do, this can do too. But it’s cheaper and lighter…
Hi Mr Tuna and thanks so much for this brilliant demo ! You suggested to ask if we have questions ... I have !!! Should I consider selling my vintage and trusty Supersaw JP-8080, my Korg Krome (great master KB/workstation), my Mininova (so cute in analog emulation) to make some money and afford the buying of this beast ? Thanks for you your reply in advance
The Juno-X covers those sound bases for sure---- but what it doesnt do fantastically is act as a master controller for other keyboards. In that sense it can really only control 4 and a half synths via midi at any given point, where my Jupiter-80 is an *awesome* awesome master controller and spilts and layers and keeps all 16 channels at my fingers. If you can keep a great master controller around for your other gear that might be best!
If you want to upgrade from the Mininova, maybe a Virus. Upgrade from the JP8080? Again, Virus, lol. Some EDM producers would tell you to _never ever_ sell the JP8080. Upgrade from the Krome as a master keyboard? Maybe the Kronos 2 V3, but I would recommend keeping the Krome instead, it is lighter weight and a little simpler to use, plus its sound engine is plenty good. If you are super tempted by the Juno-X, get the Fantom-0 instead, much more capable Zen-Core keyboard than the Juno-X and it is cheaper. But if you just want Zen-Core sounds, consider the Zenology plugin instead or MC-707.
Nobody has actually told me hahaha-- I think it’s 32 but depending on the number of patches it might be more than that. I definitely haven’t reached the limit yet
@@MRTUNA While researching, I was told 256 voices by Roland presales/support (spoke to him on the phone). (and I was as shocked sounding as you might be...just passing along what he told me :) )
and now that I'm seeing other specs, I wonder if he thought I meant presets (I asked him how many voices). Because that makes a hell of a lot more sense. So caveat emptor on my information. I'll email him again and ask
@@MRTUNA Roland got back to me. It is officially 256 voices. But he added: "but the product team always add the caveat that some tones use more than one voice of polyphony, and as you layer more sounds this eats up the voices also. The Juno-X has the 4 'parts' that can each be a different tone / model, etc. and many of the factory scenes have 2 or more of these layered. Makes for a bigger, more interesting sound, but goes through polyphony fast also." He also noted that most don't complain about cribbed voices unless they have a piano sound that is layered and using the sustain pedal a lot.
Somehow I’m intrigued with this over the Jupiter X but what does the Juno x bring that the Jupiter x doesn’t . Are the Juno models the same in the putter x vs the Juno x?
the JunoX and juno60 models arent available for the X, but the 60 probably will be eventually. Its just a medium sized version of the Jupiter-X platform with some specific models. but ultimately exactly the same sound-wise and keyboardwise and (mostly) feature wise
I’m curious how it compares with the system 8 sound wise and whether the Apregiator is useful or if the I arpeggiator detracts. I was really turned off by the Jupiter X personally. It seems like they’ve learned some lessons there interface wise, but fundamentally it’s another zen core machine. It sure looks beautiful though and I hope you enjoy it.
so far so good--- the iArp is definitely a novel features, but they have some classic arpeggiator options in there that sound really good. The only thing I havent figured out yet is how to disable it on certain parts like I can on the JPX. System-8 might sound more "true" to the originals (even then I did a comparison that ill share in a day or so and I was blown away by how close the JunoX was to my original 106) but honestly this synth just sounds GOOD. I dont really care if it sounds exactly like a Jupiter or a Juno.... I just want to enjoy the sound and the experience and this nails it.
Should be available very very quickly- it has the exact same engine and capabilities as the JPX and Xm but in a medium sized package-- should sound the same but with a more specific user interface… you can even load the Jupiter model in here from Roland cloud and have *exactly* the same thing if you wanted
@@MRTUNA Well, thanks for the demonstration. Looks like you've sold me one of these also. I ended up buying the Jupiter X because of your demo's! You were the only youtuber patiently exploring its depths at the time.
I’m excited to hear your comparison to the System 8’s Juno. Correct me if I’m wrong but I heard that the Juno emulation is different in the Zencore than in the system 8. I own a System 8 and love it but just preordered the Juno - X because of all the stacking and features it offers.
Their not telling you that this synth is digital! But it sounds great! So forget the purest nonsense and really think about buying this like I did! You won't be sorry.
as far as I can tell (and ive got them stacked on the same stand) it has the exact same keybed as the Jupiter-X. aftertouch has gotta be the same or at least I havent noticed any change but I always felt the keyboard/aftertouch was great on my JPX
System-8 is a sound designer's dream. its 1/1 controls all the way around with 0 menu diving. its nuanced and detailed in a way that the Juno-X is not........ i loooooove my system-8, but the Juno-X is a very different beast.... it sounds GREAT. it might not sound as dead-close-to-the-originals as the System-8 does (although my upcoming comparison with the real Juno-106 will prove that pretty moot), but it has a really *big* sound with much more polyphony and huge 4 synth stacks. To my ears, it sounds just as 'good' as the System-8, but its got a much more playable keyboard with 61 keys and aftertouch, and a much better build quality. The system-8 sequencer is so cool if you ever use it (I dont) and I love the cv control on the system-8 and the user interface as a whole......... so the answer is...... i have no idea :)
got excited and then realized its ZenCore, I've already turn my back on that BS, its not enough of a match to the Juno series to replace it and I have lots of digital synths that don't require annoying check ins. super disappointing its not analog. RIP Roland, Just make a new Juno that is analog! please Roland if your watching, just do it! not ACB not Zen anything
@@MRTUNA I did watch it and I will admit... that video did change my thinking on these and now am considering if possibly I do want one. 🤔 good videos!
Like the X, it's a superb bag of tricks, and it possesses a killer chorus. But .... and you know what's coming .... the System 8 still sounds better. The sooner Roland swallows its pride and brings out a 61 key, 16 voice System 8, the better. It will be the best synth on the planet.

I'm still just getting my ducks in a. row. I'm a performing (and original) musician, and this will be replacing my Nord Stage 3. So what I'm curious to better understand are a few things (if you want my questions your upcoming demos, as you mentioned.)
I haven't owned a Roland Synth since my ORIGINAL Juno 106...bought summer of '84, was stolen out of my car. I still hurt to this day ha.
My question (or questions):
Does the Roland cloud, or the zencore library allow me to source very traditional sounds and load them into the Juno X?
The roland cloud has all the original factory presets from the original synths in their legendary series, so you should have lots to choose from there!
the juno has a very very straightforward interface so any sounds you have to tweak or recreate on your own should be very easy too
ill do some more videos on the sounds!
Hi, I have a question:
When choosing a Model/ Engine, besides Juno-x, Juno-106, XV5080, etc. you can choose PR-A/ PR-B ...
Did they add the Alpha Juno PWM Saw wave from the Zencore / Zenology as well in the Juno X engine ?
I havent actually checked that out yet--- ill try to keep that in mind next time im in the studio
@@MRTUNA Awesome I’d love to know .
@@MRTUNA Thanks for your reply..I'll wait to go and check it out when they are available, for that instrument AT response would be a biggy for me.
Could you load the Juno into the Jupiter x and basically have the same thing as the Juno X?
yes you can! and you can load the Jupiter into the Juno and have the same thing as the Jupiter (although mayb e with a lot more menu diving)
Awesome! What stand are you using for the Jupiter-X and Juno-X?
Not a very good one it comes down to-- it’s just a yorkville 2 tier stand…. I’ve got a nice Hercules z stand that my prophets are on that I should really be using
Haha and lose the hilarious wobble effect? No way!
:O What added those reverse tones at 19:01? Some kind of effect on one of the parts? :)
Its the second layer with a much slower attack setting, so you hear the 1st synth come in and then the 2nd takes a lot longer and slower and it feels like that cool echo effect!
@@MRTUNA thanks! :)
@@MRTUNA that is also my prediction and fear 😂 have to purchase each to get all the updated versions. This could go on forever
Can you do a feature comparison to the Jupiter-x? I’m really confused because it seems everything the Jupiter can do, this can do too. But it’s cheaper and lighter…
I'll try to do one very soon! They are amazingly close... the Juno is just like a medium sized version with a few less controls
How many voices in the Juno x engine? I assume with the Juno 106 emulation it’s probably 6, but wondering what the limitations on the new engine are.
I believe its "up to 256" but in reality its closer to 32 when using mutliple layers or models
How many voices does the Juno X have?
Depends on how many layers- minimum 16 I think with all 4 layers being modelled synths.
Makes for a bigger, more interesting sound, but goes through polyphony fast also."
He also noted that most don't complain about cribbed voices unless they have a piano sound that is layered and using the sustain pedal a lot.
Does it has seamless transition feature when changing the sound (like Fantom has) ?
yes it does!
Do I hear voice stealing at 18:15?
3:25
That “P” could be sampled into a kick, fuck
hahahah what a weird way for me to say that
Strooth, is that a yamaha SY85 behind on the floor. If so Great synth. Juno x sounds amazing. 😃
That ones actually a Yamaha Montage but good eye!
System-8’s ACB is far more accurate than zen core.
@@SPAZZOID100 yes it is
Does it have 3 separate envelopes?
Depending on the model- but they are selectable on one ADSR
Great video! Do we know the price yet?
I believe it’s 2000 usd!
@@MRTUNA 😬
Lovely. Question is when can we buy it :)? I have a Jupiter xm and I wonder how it overlaps with the Juno x and how does it differ. Thanks
Should be available very very quickly- it has the exact same engine and capabilities as the JPX and Xm but in a medium sized package-- should sound the same but with a more specific user interface… you can even load the Jupiter model in here from Roland cloud and have *exactly* the same thing if you wanted
@@MRTUNA gotcha, I will then sell jupiter xm and get this one! thank you
Why does the Juno X sound more Juno than the Juno model on a Jupiter X?
I think they revamped the chorus a bit??? i might be wrong on that one
I own a System 8 and love it but just preordered the Juno - X because of all the stacking and features it offers.
definitely a different machine! more nuanced and detailed on the system-8 but theres a lot of advantages to either!
Next thing Roland is going to do is create a synth similar to the Jupiter 6.
or maybe like a small 1-model SH type synth??
Their not telling you that this synth is digital! But it sounds great! So forget the purest nonsense and really think about buying this like I did! You won't be sorry.
I’d trade my jupiter X for this without thinking too much, it’s a lot more beautiful and with the screen in center 😂
I should have made a bigger deal about that in the video but the screen in the center is so soooo much better than on the JPX.
Same keybed as Jupiter X? Is aftertouch improved?
as far as I can tell (and ive got them stacked on the same stand) it has the exact same keybed as the Jupiter-X. aftertouch has gotta be the same or at least I havent noticed any change but I always felt the keyboard/aftertouch was great on my JPX
@@MRTUNA , thanks! I always feel that you really have to press hard on the JP-X keys to activate aftertouch
PWM menu diving on a Juno is a crime!
I love lfo pwm on my 106 am I bad person? :(
@@MRTUNA *EDIT PWM menu diving bahahaha oops!
What part of the video is not scripted?
The sad part is I don’t script anything at all I just keep talking and hope I don’t say the same word like “capable” too many times 👍👍
Cool

which package is cheaper? Jupiter-X is cheaper than Juno!
No I Think JunoX is cheaper by about 1000ish
@@MRTUNA ок! juno-x ~~2000 $
Do I sell my system 8???
Roland is listening???
Oof, just gorgeous.
Man, your fingerwork can get crazy good, when you just let go. :D Love it.
@@CaidicusProductions it’s got a great keyboard and that makes all the difference for my playing!
@@MRTUNA Well, your skill with the keys is blindingly apparent.
This thing is definitely not a slouch. It sounds huge!!!
That Juno chorus makes it for me!
@@MRTUNA I have an original 106 and this makes me want the Juno X for all of its extra capabilities.
Nice, X envy here haha My Xm feels sad. Still sounds cracking though!
I know it would be absolutely insane but i would love to have an Xm too, just to take with me places and enjoy on the go.
@@MRTUNA Yeah it's crazy you can carry this amount of synth power to the pub :)
got excited and then realized its ZenCore, I've already turn my back on that BS, its not enough of a match to the Juno series to replace it and I have lots of digital synths that don't require annoying check ins. super disappointing its not analog. RIP Roland, Just make a new Juno that is analog! please Roland if your watching, just do it! not ACB not Zen anything
you might be impressed by the comparsion to my original Juno-106 that ill release tomorrow morning!
Just get the real deal… these VST toys are laughable at best.
106 is the weakest and most thin sounding out of all of these from that era…
@@MRTUNA I did watch it and I will admit... that video did change my thinking on these and now am considering if possibly I do want one. 🤔 good videos!
🎹😎👍🇨🇦

Great job Truman 🎹🔵🔴
Like the X, it's a superb bag of tricks, and it possesses a killer chorus. But .... and you know what's coming .... the System 8 still sounds better. The sooner Roland swallows its pride and brings out a 61 key, 16 voice System 8, the better. It will be the best synth on the planet.
Good video...dont like the sound of that Juno X at all though.
Fair enough! I appreciate the sentiments!
LOL
