- Its day 2 of our Disney Cruise Line vacation on board the Disney Magic and we are docked at Castaway Cay for our first stop of two! In todays video we attempt the Castaway Cay 5K! 3.1 miles around the island on my training path to eventually run the Walt Disney World Marathon 10k in 2023! We return to the ship and enjoy a wonderful dinner at Rapunzel's Royal Table with a great show during our meal!

I realize I never mentioned the medal lol. The medal in the thumbnail is the medal we get for completing the 5k and is available to pick up at a shack near the start/finish line. There is no sign up needed to run at the time of me making this video. You may get off the ship and run whenever you want along the designated 5k path on the island!

As a CM, my first cruise was on deck 1. The two portholes have metal doors with screws to seal them. Room was still comfy and very easy to get off the ship if they use that tender lobby.

hey Adrian! don't fall into the trap that is exercise= I can eat as much as I want. I think we've all heard the saying weightloss happens in the kitchen. totally no hate I've just been stalled forever and know how much it sucks! they serve a ridiculous amount of food at tourist spots and these disney themed dinners. thousands upon thousands in calories and you easily walk a 5k or more on a single visit to the parks. congrats on the race and the awesome vacation!
So true! I've lost 50 lbs so far and 99 percent of that is in the kitchen.
Enjoyed the video. We were in Castaway Cay in February and it was a warm day so we enjoyed the water, slides, and snorkeling. Looking forward to our upcoming visit this month!!! I'm enjoying seeing what the Magic has to offer! Koda looked great with all the bling!

Amazing video! Also, you are not fat, there is really no “fat” people on earth. So don’t call yourself fat. You may think you are, but trust me, you’re not, and if u truly think you’re fat (again ur not), maybe get some healthier options on a cruise! Relaxing can also help loose weight. Just remember don’t bring ur self down by calling ur self fat

That jewelry was amazing!!! I would have been shaking also. She had one what, half a $1 million worth of jewelry on? That’s a very nice home in most cities in the United States. In fact most people can’t even afford a $500,000 home. In my neck of the woods that would be about almost a 3000 square-foot brand new build home. Amazing sparkle though!!! I would be too afraid to wear something out like that if I even had the money to buy something like that which I don’t, LOL.

As a New Yorker, I am so weary of just leaving my stuff on the beach and going to do the 5K…not necessarily in fear of someone stealing my stuff, but thinking about some Karen moving my stuff to take my hammock or lounge chair for her or himself…I’d be absolutely enraged.

There is no group start since the restart of cruising so it’s all done on your own. At the finish line there is a hut with cast members who will give you your medal :)
Way to go! 🏅The first of many! Did you have to stop at guest services to register? I know when I ran this before, I had to and then meet up with the large group at in a specific spot on the ship to disembark. Just curious, as we cruise again in July and I plan on running it again. Thank you!
As of now you don’t need to register. You get off the ship whenever and you run on your own time. The medals can be collected at the start/finish line

Nice video. My wife and I are thinking of doing a cruise for our 10 year anniversary next year. It’ll be our first vacation so I want to make it memorable. Disney cruises are so expensive though. Can I ask approximately what you spent and/or brought with you for spending cash/tips/etc? I’m trying to get a rough estimate to give to my loan shark of how much we’ll need to have.
How long did it take to finish the 5k. I’m planning on doing this but I’m not a runner. Lol
