It is so refreshing to see people like you making videos of buying and paying little money for a car, spent some money to get the car to a decent standard, made some mods to make you want to drive it and now enjoy driving and having fun in it. Well done!
Great video! I had one of these in dark grey but with the K series 1.8VVCi engine. It really shifted (0-60 in 7.8sec) but of course suffered from the inevitable head gasket failure! Mine was a ‘98 so it had a slightly face lifted interior. The half leather seats were the most comfortable seats of any car I have owned. One of best looking cars on the road at the time. Happy motoring!
You may know that this T bar roof is little bit sensitive to settle. Pretty lovely but honestly I did not open so much. But still love this kind of very exciting roof. For me the Honda crx delsol was very shocking in those decades, but now we have any kind of very easy automatic open air models like Micra cc and so on. Might be too early to buy one.
Had a R reg 1997 Red 1.6, wish I had kept it now, becoming a rare sight on the roads. Had mine upto 2010, 82K when I sold it. Shame cant link photos here.
Never driven the nasp. Only the 2.0ltr t series turbo and 1.8 vvc k series variant. Gorgeous cars and great fun to drive when looked after. I miss mine and would have another in a heartbeat if I had spare cash.
Nightfire1 it’s a nice engine, not got the manic torque of the turbo but still quite grunty and pulls nice and steady through the rev range. I keep thinking I’ll sell it, then take a drive and don’t want to!
Nightfire1 I just rented a garage for it so it doesn’t go rusty, and it’s so nice to be Im with the new Alpine speakers and Dynamat sound deadening, it’s becoming a keeper!
Had 2 in the mid 90's Had an ex demo polynesian blue which was turquoise colour.... 1st half of the registration plate was K220... as in rover 220 :) Loved that car.. then I had the metallic purple one as a company car.... can't remember the actual name of the colour. Loved my 1st one!
Excellent choice! Have you found the owners club yet - look for the 'Rover Coupe Owners Club' on Facebook, friendly, helpful and supportive keeping these on the road
I went to test drive a 1 owner, 38,000 mile Rover 220 GSI 3 door (not coupe) the other day. Great, other than some rot at the bottom of the arches where they meet the sills. I have a Mk1 200 as well, although I am wondering what do whether to purchase this Mk2, they are as you say looking better now with age.
So did you buy the GSI? If you haven't you should, they are as cheeps they'll ever be and it sounds like you'll save it. Fairly common rust spots and shouldn't be too hard to sort.
@@furiousdriving I haven't yet, I'm in the 200&400 OC, they've recommended I purchase it. It's not publicly up for sale, I contacted the local owner months ago, it has been owned by an old lady from new and always garaged. Which is even more of a shame about the rust, front wings are going to and bubbling on the sills. Like you say it can be sorted - she hasn't named a price on it, I would make an offer probably around £450-600. I have 4 cars already, but the 3 doors are rare, as are the 220s, it would be nice to preserve it long term. And it matches my Mk1 in British Racing Green, although that one would likely have to be moved on next year. Decisions, decisions! If not, I will definitely make sure it ends up in enthusiasts hands and not some boy racer.
Ah, so you have 'the disease' too! That sounds a fair price for one that needs work, 3 doors are worth saving as there are so few left. Id like one but don't know where I'd put it. Did you see the 200 400 stand at the NEC?
@@furiousdriving Really I was infected by the disease and will never get over it! One of the cars I have I've known all my life, an Austin 1300GT, which has been off the road longer than I've been alive! How can I possibly sell that? Agreed about the 3 doors, why did they disappear quicker? I did see the stand, I was on it too, with my BRG Mk1 200!
@@robdixon3953 Only about 75 of these non-turbo 2 litres taxed last I looked, a few more turbos than that and a couple of hundred 1.6 and 1.8s. I need to find somewhere dry for it over winter!

Man my uncle had a murdered out one when I was younger, I loved it. Enjoy just looking at the car again. Good times 🤧

furiousdriving yeah don't sell it lol I've regretted selling mine every day since. It's becoming a British icon now. Defo a car worth keeping.

Very good car
Had an L reg Tahiti blue turbo back in the day .... wish I still had it
I think about selling this on and off, but Id struggle to find another when I inevitably regret it and change my mind!

Nice !
Where you get the exhaust from
how is the handling is it going to kill me or not
When is a car not a car? I.e how many parts can you replace before it stops being 'your old car'

The don't make Rover's like they used to.
