Nick, So nice to see a lefty doing what you do. I'm lefty too. Going on 58 years of playing the guitar. I remember Jimmy James and the Blue Flames at the Cafe Wha? in the Village. His imagination was wonderful, whimsical, at times childlike. Like so many, his flame went out way too soon. Job well done, Nick.
Very well done! If you haven't been told this before, you are both an excellent teacher and someone who keeps it light. If Sweetwater doesn't take up all your time, you'd be quite welcome to become a UA-cam teacher where I am sure you'd gain traction and students quickly.
I was looking for a better way to mute that g bend after releasing the b string than using my right hand as this is not very efficient I thought. Most people just teach us the notes to play but not how to make it musical. These details are much appreciated!
Te escribo con un gusto enorme porque este video está muy bien hecho. Felicitaciones por tomarte el tiempo para explicar muy claramente esta súper canción
Great job Nick! Your little lessons are greatly improving my playing. Please keep them coming. I’m so happy you’re at Sweetwater doing these instructionals. I’m into this one 90 minutes.
Hendrix didn’t play the E7#9 chord in the verse up the neck at the 6, 7 & 8 frets on this song, he played an E chord down near the nut and barred the B and high E strings on the 3rd fret with his pinkie. You can see this in many live videos of Hendrix playing Purple Haze (e.g., Jimi Plays Berkeley).
Thanks for bringing back my teenage memories-"Just another old player", my 10 year old grand nephew has taught himself to play this but he's missing bits so I thought If I'm going to show him the proper way,I'd better go back and re-learn it properly myself. Its funny how I never learnt it note for note way back then but I seem to want him to play it properly...double standards!! idk but thanks all the same
Thanks, Nick!! It's nice to know there's a LEFTY at SWEETWATER. Thinking of getting a Fender Player Series in Tidpool, and maybe having David Gilmour Emus put on it, by your Guitar Tech, with the his FLOATING TREMOLO SET-UP, and I'd want you to TEST DRIVE IT, Making Sure the Action, INTONATION etc., is GOOD. Bob Furlong is my Sales Engineer.
If you happen to have a boost pedal, you can put that before the blues driver to get more gain and make it do more “fuzzy” things. If not, you really can’t get very similar sounds. Just learn to make it sound as good as it can with what you’ve got!
@@janrandles8683 if you ever have technical questions, I’m always on UA-cam. You can comment on one of my videos or you’ll see me around sweetwater and some other music channels. The electronic side of playing the guitar is really big and scary at first, but it’s a big rush the whole way through.

You even learned to play it left-handed. That is dedication.
Joking aside it's an excellent presentation and playing. Thanks
@@somedaygibson6894 it's a big help to us righties to have lefties show us how to play these songs.
@@MikeKeller I learned the basics from a guy who was left handed and that made stuff much easier
😂😂. Well played.

Great instruction on the more nuanced parts of the intro. You can really tell he loves this song. Also, great Dime decal and necklace!

I absolutely love your lessons. The bite size chunks make it so easy to understand and pick up on.

Loya of congratulations for this awesome video. You really know how to make one gets more into guitar playing. 🙏👍
Awesome song
Awesome job my man! Been playing it wrong for years and this cleared up a couple phrases for me
Glad it helped!

Great tutorial! Cheers!
Definitely the best tutorial of this…

Great Job, Thank You - Sweetwater
Excellent!!! (Coming from a lowly beginner) 😉🙌👍👍
Appreciate the clear explanation and demonstration of the opening solo. Is the middle solo available?

I keep watching these videos so I can perfect my purple haze playing
Cool song👍
Love it!!!
Standard tuning or Eb? Thanks
Close enough to perfect for my money. Just wish I could get that sound from an lt25 amp.
Nice lesson. What brand of fuzz is Nick using?
Your sound is killer!!!!!!
damn cool👍
Just received my Boss Blues Driver pedal from Sweetwater. Great lesson. Can I get the fuzz sound with this pedal? No fuzz pedal. Yet!

@@graxjpg Thanks! New to pedals and adding a little each time I have a chance.
@ Thanks Nikki. Will check it out. Having fun checking out the few I have acquired but I am a 60's music fan. So next on my list.

@ I sort of cheated. I built my own Dallas Arbiter fuzz face germanium schematic inside a 60's Guyatone round case fuzz pedal.

Its friendly i guess he said hit that b flat but that is just straight ear doo doo if your pitch sensitive.
Why do you delete that guys negative experience with sweetwater?
This isn’t the place for that, they have a specific place for that haha
👍👍
Slow down buddy. Gettin a little ahead of the groove
Great instruction Mr. Bowcott thank you. Ok move back everyone, move the chairs and the pool table ..ok? ok, see you in Hell!!!!!!!!!!! \m/
Great lesson! But if you keep breaking windows by hurling Jimi Hendrix albums, Chuck Surack is going to take it out of your paycheck!
🤣👍
?@0:49 A Jimi diss? Noooooooo!!!!
puhrpuhl hize
Sorry it’s all backwards to me
I can't be friends with anyone who doesn't at least play this with a backing track.
