60th Birthday Celebration - A Look Back at My Life So Far

- I turn 60 in a few days and decided I would create a little life history recap for posterity, and include photos from the first six decades of my life. And who knows, maybe my sons can use this video at my funeral?! Always planning ahead and trying to be efficient 😉

So many similarities. I also turned 60 this year. We celebrated in London and Edinburgh. My first trip to the UK was in 1982 and also fell in love and hoped one day I could move there. I was married in 1990 and my son was born in 1996. I am the 3rd child with my sister being 12 yrs older and brother 15 yrs older. My dream is also coming true as I am moving to Huntingdon in November. Hope you have a wonderful 60.

Happy Birthday Dara! Wonderful pictures and memories there. The boys won't have to change it much for your funeral. Maybe some pictures from your 100th or something. But otherwise this is a fantastic vignette of a life well lived. Was that a Go-gos tee I saw in there? 😍 I don't have anywhere near the photos from the 80s as you do unfortunately. When Michelle came along in 1991 is when the photography really took off. Yep, we've been together since 1991. But Michelle was younger, 19 I think, so now she is so sure about living with an old man. I am nearing 40 after all. 😁
We were hoping to have my birthday and Christmas in Europe but unfortunately the stars have not aligned thanks to the lack of pet boarding facilities with availability over Christmas - some have been booked out for a year. Damn pets 😂🐶🐱🐱 So we've delayed my birthday trip to March. 😂

Yes, I had a Go-go's T-shirt from the concert tour they did my senior year of high school. They came to Chicago. I wore that T-shirt when I moved in to my dorm room. I don't have that T-shirt anymore, but I do have my MTV T-shirt from 1984, which is just as good . 👍
Ian and I have been together since 1992. And he is younger than me as well! Even though he looks much younger than he really is. Thankfully, no one has asked if he is my son lately. That always makes me quite cross!
When my sons edit this video they will just need to take off the end part where I tell people to subscribe, and then add in pictures of me at their weddings and holding their babies! 🩷
@@MagentaOtterTravels mum and dad used to dog sit so we had it good, cheap, for a long time. Now we have to pay like the rest of the suckers. Pet boarding was the single biggest expense of our last holiday - more than flights or accommodation. In fact the dog and cat cost more per night than nearly every place we stayed at in Vietnam. 😂
The Go-gos reminded me of hanging out in our year 12 (senior high school year) common room with the stereo blaring and slumped in bean bags. 😂
I've always thought Ian looked supernaturally young. 😂

Awe Dara Happy Birthday. I am 55, but my siblings were a lot older than me too and I was the baby. I felt more like an only child at times since they were in college when I was just still in the lower grades. My mom and dad are gone now too and were wonderful parents. As you know I am a Midwesterner like you too. BTW, I am back on UA-cam after a break for a year.

I did like Ian's enormous black bow tie and ruffled shirt! The 80's weren't a good fashion era, my fashion crime was the spiral perms I tortured myself getting, spending hours at the hairdresser inhaling chemicals which I'm sure have rotted my brain!

How are you 60? That's like an old person's age? I don't know anybody that is 60. Me, I was born in 1964 and that is like 40 years ago. Anyway, denial is a river in Egypt. Funnily enough people ask me what I will be doing for my 60th and seem a bit shocked when I say nuthin'. It would be nice if we're in Europe or somewhere in December though. But a party or something? Forget about it. I did enough partying in my 20s and 30s for a lifetime.😁
On a slightly more serious yet humorous note, my Aunty recently sent me a bunch of photos so I can make her a funeral video, as she said, "like the one's you make for UA-cam". At least I will get in some practice for mine. 😁
August baby eh. My dad's 86th birthday is next week - the 28th. Coincidentally the same day as my grandfather's (mum's dad). This would have been number 123. He did get to see 102 of those birthdays though. As we say here, he had a good innings.
