Excellent narration... reliving my School Days when 'Great Expectations " was prescribed for my Senior Cambridge examination. A great novel and has been in my sub-conscious ever since. Thanks so much.
Martin Jarvis... my absolute favorite narrator, especially reading Charles Dickens. His wonderful character voices really bring the stories to life. Thank you so much. Made my day. 😊
If you've not already heard them, here's two wistful HE Bates stories on my channel, read by Mr Jarvis: ua-cam.com/video/ZZwivnYBgeA/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/WcSTNsNlS9k/v-deo.html
Well, that's a coincidence! A few days ago I finished listening to a radio play of The Honourable Schoolboy with Martin Jarvis brilliantly taking the main role of Jerry Westerby. On the strength of that I went looking for other audio books Martin Jarvis had done but then got waylaid by other things, the way you do on the internet. Yesterday I watched an interview with Robert Harris in which he said Great Expectations was one of his favourite novels. I therefore went in search of a free audio book. I tried two or three but quickly gave up as I couldn't get on with the narrator. I then came across this one, thought the narrator was terrific and settled down to listen. I have only now realised, when reading a comment by another listener, that this IS indeed Martin Jarvis again! He really is a wonderful voice actor.
Too true! I love his Just William readings. You might want to listen to these stories read by Martin. "The Lighthouse" - H.E Bates ua-cam.com/video/ZZwivnYBgeA/v-deo.html "The Kimono" - H.E. Bates ua-cam.com/video/WcSTNsNlS9k/v-deo.html
