When I run out of firewood mid winter I start burning my backyard fence. Puppo: I've heard that this exact video was already up on one of the Ukrainian war Telegram channels last week. Water supply is considered to be a staple ingredient of industry and industrial development policy (as opposed to use for drinking consumption, in places such as Ireland in spite of abundance of water 'from the sky', the absence or lack of a robust utility water infrastructure is often cited as a vulnerability from a point of view of further economic development and industry growth). In short, wealth development. It's not always just the drinking consumption side, and then building of water infrastructure in advance of demand relates back to one's local taxation policies on the ground and so forth. I.e. I Ireland the financial underpinning to support infrastructure had been absent for a century or so. You speak of 'Trout Run' (was listening to Slide Inn, a trout guiding business way out west, their local metropolis they explained was called Ennis, population eight hundred people and fourteen million trout). Again, chicken and egg, there are reservoir infrastructure lakes way up there on headwaters of giant Missouri river system, but it sure wasn't the tax base of eight hundred that made it happen (that's when one gets into local, State, Federal etc). Ditto, California. Real estate residential land prices, insurance cover (or lack of), lumber industries and forest management (a lot of Federal monies just to make dense, overgrown brush wood and undergrowth disappear laboriously by hand). And then things like a water infrastructure build-up program that might be half a century behind. Not easy to balance it all, with environment, habitat protection. And still have safe homes, good infrastructure, sustainable taxation, strong real estate markets and indigenous local enterprise such as lumber. What do you do when Silicon Valley gets built next door, and suddenly a lot of low margin indigenous industry goes by wayside. It's all shiny new enterprise and corporate office parks, a 'knowledge economy'. And wild fires burn straight through neighborhoods. Environments are tough things to fathom. In Ireland, the vulnerability of those highlands and hill countries like you see in PA's landscape, is over a few generations it gets blanketed with conifer, dense plantation to make pulp timber for the paper and boxing industry. There goes that little creek where you were swimming in, as the dense conifer plantations on those highlands just soak up everything. Like I said, no easy. Scottish highlands, same.
You have a mountain of slab wood from the mill and customers complain if you sell it to them as firewood. It just doesn't look as pretty as logs by the fireplace. I've heard it all by before.
